Caye Caulker Plaza Hotel

Air conditioning, great location, and friendly staff. It’s across from a big grocery store and the bakery. The 10-bed dorm had two bathrooms in the room and a mini fridge—great value for the price.

I’ve been traveling to Caye Caulker for 15 years and have stayed at the Plaza many times. I have to assume there is a new owner b/c its gone way down hill. Checking out and moving locations today and will not stay a second night. The beds used to be luxurious with nice new linens. No longer. The towels are old and frayed. The toilet doesn’t work because they don’t maintain your property. There is now a bar right next door w/LOUD music from noon to 1:30AM. I am not exaggerating when I say our windows shook until 1:30AM last night. They started again at noon today. Never staying here again.

Clean and quiet, purified water and morning coffee in the lobby. Provided a beach towel. Bed was comfortable, a/c worked well. Good shower. Had chairs and table on the balcony overlooking the street which was a nice place to drink coffee before starting the day.

Sheets are really thin but you can get extra blankets if you need. Staff is really nice and location is great. The dorms do not have AC during the day and only on for a short amount of time at night. So if you need AC, book a private room.

I stayed a couple of nights here. It is centrally located but the bunk beds are dangerous (no rail to stop you falling out), the service is terrible, and it all feels dirty (attracting lots of mosquitoes). Also there is a poor common area. Do not recommend.

Given price, central location, cleanliness, friendly staff and keeping your expectations in check this was a good stay for our week on the island. If you’re looking for a serene, quiet location with resort type accommodations this isn’t your place. Given that, you can’t really go wrong here. Fresh coffee in the morning and drinking water in the lobby was nice. Staff was friendly and although they appeared to provide recommended dining locations based on who they wanted to support versus quality it was good to get their input on places to see and do. Rooms are large, bed comfortable, AC worked great when needed and cleaning staff did a good job. Water eventually got warm but you have to run it for a bit. I didn’t mind early cooler water temps. Never drank the tap water but I don’t think anybody does here. I wouldn’t have any hesitation staying here again keeping all mentioned in mind.

Our group stayed here as part of our Intrepid Guatemala and Belize tour. The hotel was nice enough, although Intrepid will be using a different one next year. It was a bit of a walk to the split, but this meant it was quieter than it would've been if it was closer.|Everything was walkable though and it was a pleasant stay.

Good location of building. Staff was accommodating.|Hotel is in a very bad need of maintenance, fornitura is falling apart, shower head was broken, they cover the walls with hotel regulations and fines signs. They don’t have a place to have breakfast. A cleaning person just open the door without knocking at the door.|Very bad hotel, I do not recommend.
