"Historic George Town Take a walking tour of historic George Town, the capital of Grand Cayman since the 18th century, when the local harbor was deemed the island’s best commercial anchorage. One of the oldest sites is Fort George, and though you’ll find only small vestiges of this 1790 construction, it continued to serve as a strategic lookout point as recently as World War II (German submarines were active off the coast). Other neighborhood stops include the 18th-century well on view through a pane at the Bayshore Mall; the 1919 Peace Memorial, among other sites in Heroes Square; and the Cayman Islands National Museum, the longest-standing Caymanian public building (home to the island's first post office, courthouse, and jail, just for starters)."
It’s a small museum but the building itself has a lot of history and there’s some pretty cool historical significance. you can tell that The people that work on the museum have a lot of care and pride in our country. Lovely efforts have been made to preserve our history in this museum is an example of that. from the ecology to the history of the island it gives information.

An excellent place to learn about the history and culture of the Cayman Islands.
The place is set in the middle of Georgetown in the oldest building on the island.
If you are come ng in through Cruise ship, you cannot miss it. I mean, you can if you want but I would highly recommend this.
You will need about 45mins to tour this place, obviously you can spend more time if you want.

Very nice little museum! We've been to the Caymans twice and I really enjoyed getting to know more about the islands' history and people. It focuses on Grand Cayman, briefly touching on the other two islands.
There's a new animatronic in one upstairs room that is impressive. One room has rotating local art. The maps say there's a children's room, but it was a rotating feature on an important local figure when we visited. Still, we had children ranging in age from 7-18, and they all enjoyed it and were able to learn a lot. Don't skip the movie at the beginning!

This was a really neat little museum showing the history of Georgetown and it's people. There's a neat little theater style show in the beginning and then you get to explore the museum freely it's not very big which is good it doesn't take all day to get through it was only eight dollars a person to get in so as well worth doing I recommend that you stop here just to get an idea of the place that you're visiting.

This was an amazing experience. The exhibits were great, the staff was so friendly, and we learned a great deal about the history of the island. The museum also happens to be in a great place for food and further exploring. Its a must visit.

I was in Cayman, my hometown, and took my girlfriend to Cayman’s wonderful historical museum.
We watched a short film on the history of the island, and then toured the amazing interactive museum. This is a must to see when you come to Grand Cayman! My ❤️! My people!

The Cayman islands national museum is a wonderful place to spend about an hour. You learn all about the history of the islands. Plenty to see and plenty of history to share. The video is great. Make sure you stay to the end to hear the kids singing. Clean restroom. I would strongly recommend if you have an interest in the island besides just warm weather and drinks.
