I really, really, *really* didn't want to like CB2. It threatens all that is "cool" and "underground" in my design aesthetic. I mean, we all know Ikea -- we all get that it's mass-produced, inexpensive, and relatively inoffensive in appearance. And we all know EQ3, Inform, et al -- we understand that the products found there will be of a higher quality, better design, and will therefore be more expensive. Both have their place in my world, it's just that one appeals to my elitest design-loving tendencies a bit more than the other.
And then there's this: CB2, a mashup of mass-produced, well-designed products that bring the product prices down *just* enough for the average person to comprehend spending, but still high enough that the design itself won't be sacrificed. And yes, I like it. I like it a lot. Unfortunately though, the products themselves aren't what I'd classify as "investment pieces," if you're pickin' up what I'm throwin' down. It's kinda like that $15 bottle of wine: why not just spend the extra $5 and get a the one you *actually* want?
As it stands right now, the design is there, the products are there, but the quality doesn't really warrant the price-tag.
... but really, who am I kidding? Y'all know I'm a be there errr'day.
