If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to sleep inside an old Vegas casino that lost its luck, this is the place for you! 😂 The building has that “vintage” smell that hits you the second you walk in, and the rooms are… let’s just say cozy (a.k.a. super tiny). The bed was so hard I’m pretty sure it was training me for a camping trip. Breakfast? Let’s just say it was emotionally challenging. The orange juice clearly went to boarding school with water, the bread was old enough to have stories, and boiled eggs for breakfast — not exactly my thing. Didn’t see much of the staff (except the lovely cleaning lady — she’s the real MVP). On the bright side, the location was great! Super close to the train station and just a short walk to Monastiraki and the Acropolis. So, 10/10 for location… but maybe bring your own breakfast and a pillow. 😅

Super nice hotel in an old beautiful building very central. The room was so comfy and spacious for the price, great bed. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The old lift is one of a few left, I loved it but admit I was a bit scared of using it! I can’t think of anything negative about this hotel.

Great location with a nice atmosphere, within walking distance of major attractions and rooftops with amazing Acropolis views. For the price, it’s quite good, and breakfast was ok. I only stayed a couple of nights

We just returned from Athens, where we stayed 2 nights in the Hotel Cecil. 2 nights were enough to be eaten up by BED BUGS!!! Yes, BED BUGS! Although we booked the Hotel through BOOKING there is apparently no guarantee for minimal sanitary standard, which should be expectable even at a rating of 7.9. Unfortunately, after the facts we found out that this problem is not new to this hotel. We hope that others will read and view our photos in time. Personally, I see no hope that the Hotel Cecil will change to the better. The breakfast was most banal the ladies working in the breakfast areas walked around with the full bucket collected dirty dishes while guests were eating and conducted themselves loud, so that the only things to hear were dishes slapped into the bucket. Wonderful, a place to avoid!!!

One of the most uncomfortable mattresses I’ve slept on in 28 years as an adult. A mattress upgrade would go a LONG way towards making this a VERY quality stay. Otherwise, a decent hotel for the price, in a fantastic location.

You get what you pay for, the shower is tiny and the hose couldn’t be hung so I had to hold it, the breakfast isn’t worth it. You do however get a clean bed and a working A/C, and you’re close to everything, also the water pressure in the shower is great.
