My husband and I came to Cecil’s for a date night and we had a DELICIOUS meal with EXCELLENT service. Every staff member had a big smile and made our experience very enjoyable. I believe our server’s name was Robert but have to admit I have terrible memory with names. Nevertheless he made our evening really fun and special with personable conversation. Food came fast and certainly hit the spot! Hope to come back again next time we are in the Bay

Went for lunch and it was really a great place to eat. The building is rustic with brewing equipment visible. We sat on the outside patio. Lots of wasps but it is Aug. My flight and beer was super cold. Found the beer selection limited and light for my taste. The burgers were well presented and fresh. The veggie burger was extremely well built. Great work! Nice place just to chillax Will be back.

The prime rib was excellent. Don’t need to pay extra for condiments. The servers and workers are super friendly. The desert is not really my favourite. It’s something that they could work on. Thanks for a great night people keep up the good work.

Have been back a few times now. Always get excellent service and very tasty and filling meals! Every dessert tried so far is absolutely delicious! You can't go wrong by choosing Cecil's! Bonus for Pokemon Go players there are a number of stops you can spin within reach of any table. As well there are gyms within remote pass reach.

Very impressed food came out steaming hot and fresh. Well presented and staff was friendly. Prices are on the higher end but you get what you pay for. Would highly recommend.

Ordered 3 pounds of wings. Recieved 22 dried out turds. Came to $67. Called to complain as there must be some mistake. Was put on hold for 15 mins till I hund up and called back. Apparently 22 dried out tiny wings is 3 pounds at Cecils.

Sitting here at Cecil’s now and wanted to write a review before I forgot. We are served by a lovely young lady Leila. Amazing fish and chips, green apple pecan salad and the best in house IPA ever. Great food, great service. Thank you Leila.

Yelp
I had the cobb salad with chicken. I wanted the prime rib because I checked the menu prior to ordering take out on skipthedishes and called in so the proceeds went to the restaurant but it wasnt an option. I'm a huge fan of cobb salads in general as I've been in the restaurant industry for years I've seen some fantastic variations however unfortunately in this case It was just ok, but the raw broccoli trees I got were unpleasant - if they were steamed or prepped prior, maybe even pickled it would be different. The quality and the price didn't add up this time but will give it another chance

Yelp
The service is friendly, the atmosphere and ambience is cozy, and the food and drinks were good to. Even though nothing was outstanding, I can't say I agree with the negative reviews here. Just wish they were open a little later.

Yelp
Food could be better, ordered the children's mac and cheese (i wasn't all that hungry so i didn't wanna order a whole big meal off the regular menu) I didn't expect it to be Kraft dinner!! If i wanted kraft dinner i would've made some at home myself, wouldn't have drove an hour with my fussy toddler to have kraft dinner at a restaurant! kids menus should have pictures of the food. I was extremely disappointed, and the kraft dinner wasn't even really good. I digress, my husband and i tried the french onion soup and it was really good! I recommend trying the french onion soup!

Yelp
Had a reservation at another establishment. They were unable to accommodate our large group. We turned to Cecil's. With two-block walk notice they took our group of 13 (7 adults and 6 kids) no problem. Nigel was awesome! He quickly got food started for this gaggle of kids and brought the adults drinks. By the sheer number of people, we were a challenging table and he wrangled ALL of us like a pro. We sincerely apologize to anyone there today for the occasional squeal coming from the rugrats. We will be back, guaranteed.

Yelp
The owner came out to speak with our team about the beer selection and brewing process for their beers. We had appetizers all of which were delicious including spicy rolls, bread with dip, kettle chips and deep fried cauliflower. The patio arrangement complied with current restrictions for physical distancing. Kelli and Nigel provided excellent service throughout our stay.

Yelp
What the hell happened to you Cecil's? You use to serve Gourmet Poutine that was enough to feed two full grown adults, WITH two glasses of pop for around $13 taxes in. Now ... for about the same price, all you give is maybe a handful of the amount of fries and no pop, and you wonder why your reviews and ratings and customer counts are dwindling. Get your shit together and either increase your dish sizes or stop trying to constantly hike up the damn prices to line your greedy pockets. P.S. The picture provided is of the sweet potato fry version of the gourmet poutine with added sauteed mushrooms. But, my husband got the normal gourmet poutine with added sauteed mushrooms and it looked identical in size. Both were in an average sized bowl.

Yelp
Great vibes in this joint. Wasn't the best meal I've ever eaten...but it was good. And the service (I like to sit at the bar) was perfection. Ill definitely come back.

Yelp
Food is definitely above average here. All fresh and delicious. I got the strip steak and my company got the prime rib special. Steak was cooked perfectly (rare. As I asked for) and it was seasoned so well! I recommend ordering a steak from here, over the local "steak house" they really know what they're doing. :) The local brewed beer is also super fresh and delicious. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Not bad but not great either. The wait staff were fine but the food was lacklustre and as for the brew, maybe you like beer that tastes like vinegar, but it's not for us.

Yelp
Had the west coast burger and it was very good. The chips were greasy and more than half was little broken bits. The nipissing lager was very nice. The service was poor and slow even though it was not cery busy. I would not return

Yelp
Came to Cecil's while traveling through North Bay, Ontario. Was looking a dive to watch the 1st NFL Football game of the season and stumbled upon Cecil's. Its a nice place, good amount of seating. Service: They brew I believe 4 or 5 of their own brews. I tried 3 and they were solid. The service was good, wait staff = friendly. They even put the audio on for the game. Food: Ordered chicken fajitas. They were ABSOLUTELY delicious! No way I wouldn't re-order that if I went again. They were the best I can remember eating.

Yelp
Okay I admit it is incredible to be handed the bible of beers when you sit down at this place for a meal but it also makes it extremely difficult to settle on one decision. Cecil's is a good place. But if you keep up with my reviews I'm the type of person who prefers a quieter venue for my social outings and Cecil's is just f'ing loud. That's not to mention the crowd who consist of semi-retarded north bay drop-outs and cougars trying to prey on them. But that's generally the crowd at most of the North Bay bars so theres really no way to escape it. The service has alway been the best I've ever gotten in North Bay. There is one gentleman in particular who is probably the most pleasant waiter I've ever encountered. On another note, they obviously hire bartenders who expect to do nothing more than open a bottle of beer or tap a keg because the mixed drinks they give are the worst I've ever encountered. The surroundings them self are nothing more than your typical pub (which is how I like it, so long as it is clean, which Cecil's passes on my cleanliness acceptability scale). All in all probably one of the best bars in the bay if you want live music and solely beer. Spending time with the crowd might have you feeling dumb by the time you leave but that fun sometimes. My impartial "okay" that I reviewed this place is based on the excessively loud music and the atrocious drinks they mix. Note: there is one guy who frequently plays in this place who is really good. Very mellow acoustic artist that sets an awesome atmosphere.

Yelp
Been there for wings . They were just ok. Second time was for lunch. Terrible service . Our blind and blonde server was Pouty with some kind of an attitude . Our party of 12 sat for 25 minutes . We left . A joke of a place

Yelp
Their ribs are great, beers are pretty good, desserts are awesome, and the atmosphere is pretty good. Service is always good and the food is always super tasty.

Yelp
Came to Cecil's for Sunday brunch. Our waitress was very friendly and took great care of our rather large party (11 of us). The food was excellent and the restaurant was clean and well organized. I would highly recommend stopping by for brunch!

Yelp
Came here for beer and supper last night and it was excellent. Came for brunch today and it was excellent. Came back this evening and had a great supper and wings. Other than obnoxious local white trash it's a fun place

Yelp
For a good local brew or a family night out; this establishment delivers. After a suggestion from my wife to take the family out, we chose this restaurant. After arriving the service was prompt and friendly. The food was delicious--we both had the Asian cashew stir fry, and the little ones had spaghetti and fries. Once we finished our food, the kids got ice cream for their desert and then our waiter brought over a chest (literally) filled with toys. Our children's face lit up with excitement and made the whole experience that much better. If you're looking for a friendly place to eat a meal.or have a drink, make sure you give this place a try.

Yelp
Food is usually good, but today was the exception. Had a mediocre chicken ceaser wrap. The fries were good and the portion was huge, but the chicken was out of the microwave (I think). Atmosphere was good as always, and the wait staff was friendly an attentive. I will be back but I won't get the wrap again!

Yelp
My wife and I went here for dinner on a trip through North Bay. We stumbled on the restaurant through a Google search and thought we'd give it a try. We were very impressed with the food and atmosphere. Pros: good, simple pub food; substantial menu (lots of choice); great drinks at a reasonable price; nice atmosphere; comfortable seating; prompt service Cons: our server was prompt but not overly friendly or enthusiastic; we ordered salads for takeout after our meal (for a snack later in the evening) and no cutlery or napkins were provided If you are looking for a casual, affordable dining experience I would highly recommend.

Yelp
Cecil's has the advantage of being downtown, open late, outdoor terasse, food bands and karaoke... HOWEVER 1) some of the Security guys are more concerned with chatting with the barmaid than doing their job 2) the person running the karaoke machine needs a course in volume control 3) the upper management is how can one say politely, not very impressive so despite the wonderful bar staff, i give this place a huge thumbs down. for karaoke, go to Partners just down the street where you can play pool and watch games... maybe in a couple of years things will get better, but cute pricey bars with nice tablecloths are a dime a dozen. .. The Fox and Fiddle is an excellent pub also... However for historical interest, perhaps you could go for a beer.... other than that I would recommend establishments whose management respects clients and teaches their staff about ... SERVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere here and the spread they have for the brunch is very diverse and delicious. I don't think I have ever seen prime rib roast at a buffet style brunch before!

Yelp
I actually wish they had more beer choices.. The beer bible? Yaa not so much... how about a Crabbies ginger beer? They do make a decent whiskey sour and the live music is a fun change of pace. Super loud but i enjoy that once in a while, food is alright

Yelp
The purpose of our visit was to go and listen to a friend's band, we went early to get some dinner and it could have been any other restaurant that serves almost everything deep fried. The band was awesome, the servers were great, however because it is connected to the Zoo (?) about half way through the night the young ones spilled over from the club and we felt very much out of place, we couldn't get out of there fast enough, gee could it be because I am getting too old for this? LOL nawww

Yelp
This place does not mess up the beer. Having said that, just about everything else is sub-par. The wait staff was surly and went awol.... the food was very mediocre and over-priced, and we worried about getting to our event on time even though we had allowed two hours for dinner, and the event was at the Capital Centre right next door. We will not be back.

Yelp
Service wasn't great. The waitress seemed out of it. Food was meh. My husband got 1/2 rack ribs with 1/2 lb chicken wings. Was surprised when he only got three wings on his plate! I got the chicken quesadilla with sweet potato fries. Sweet potato fries were good but he quesadilla was not my favorite. Based on price and food quality don't think we would go here again.

Yelp
My family is new to the area so we thought we would give this place a go. We ordered the Cecilsized burger, wings, ribs and chicken tenders for my 2 year old. The burger was pretty tasty., a lot of flavour and it is diffidently a dinner and a leftover lunch meal because it lives up to its name in size. The ribs and the wings were fine, pretty average, however the side dish of beans tasted much like they were from a can. The chicken fingers unfortunately were so over fried/baked that they were hard as rocks and my son couldn't chew them.

Yelp
When I was in North Bay this past week I came across Cecil's Eatery and Beer Society and I have to say it was probably one of the better restaurant/pubs that I have come across in the area. I went in for a late supper one night and the service was excellent friendly, fast and delicious. After dinner I decided to stay for a couple of drinks, I was very surprised when I received a beer list with over 100 types of beer. Now when I first got came in it had a restaurant atmosphere which I was expecting but as the evening went on it slowly turned into a bar/pub environment definitely not a lounge environment. Later in the evening there was live entertainment that was a bit too loud when it first started but was fitting when the bar was filled with more people. The crowd was a melting pot of 19-50 year olds who all seemed to be enjoying a night out. Also the Menu changes at 11pm to a pub menu which is good but does not do the full menu justice. Overall It was good, nothing that you would expect from a small city.
