Cedar Manor, Windermere, Lake District, England - Explore & Book

"Cedar Manor seems to have found the perfect balance between B&B and hotel. Like the best B&Bs, it's run - with impeccable service and inexhaustible energy - by its owners Jonathan and Caroline. They know the area inside out, greet guests by name, and are helped by excellent staff. And, like all good B&Bs, it serves a great breakfast, be it the 'full Cumbrian' or healthier options like eggs royale. But it also has a dash of boutique hotel about it. The bedrooms - 10 of them - come with vivid designer wallpapers, Egyptian cotton sheets, waffle robes, perhaps a canopied (or four-poster) kingsize bed: not your average B&B. The building, a handsome 1850s greystone house with big arched windows and neatly striped lawns, can fairly be called a manor. Certainly, relaxing by the ancient cedar tree and pink rhododendrons, with a classy cream tea and glass of fizz, you feel like the lords of one. Indoors are 2 guest lounges, a well-stocked bar and delicious snacks (brought to your room if you prefer). The result of all this is a truly spoiling Lake-District hideaway with an intimate and attentive atmosphere; a place where discerning guests mingle happily, and return year after year. Highs An excellent location: 5 mins' walk from the town centre and 5 mins' drive from the lakeside (cruises, watersports)Beautiful leafy gardens make it feel very secluded and specialTruly warm welcome and firsthand advice from Jonathan, Caroline and staff, including great hiking and restaurant tipsEverything is spotlessly clean, and nothing is too much trouble for the staffIf you want more privacy, there's a smart little 1-bedroom cottage with its own living-dining space (and a very snazzy bathroom!) Lows No children under 10: this is a tranquil placeNot pet-friendlyBedrooms vary: some have better views, others bigger bathrooms (but all have their own character)Windermere is one of the Lake District's more touristy towns" - Kate Parsons

Possibly one of the finest hotel/inn experiences we have ever had. Jonathan & Caroline were fantastic hosts. The decor of the Inn was very charming, the grounds were terrific. Could not ask for a better location (ie - easy walk from train station, easy walk to town, easy walk to Bowness, bus stop in front of Inn). Morning breakfast was fun & enjoyable and the afternoon tea was the best we ever had. We highly recommend and would stay again when visiting the Lake District

Yet another truly amazing stay at Cedar Manor. Caroline and Jonathan are excellent hosts/owners. If you want to stay in a beautiful hotel, perfect rooms, delicious breakfasts, with parking and outlook on to a gorgeous garden then you should try Cedar Manor. You can leave your car and freely explore the lakes via the excellent bus service. No hassle no stress. We had the afternoon tea which was absolutely delicious and served to a very high standard. We will definitely return. We can most certainly recommend this hotel. Just try it.

Our stay at Cedar Manor was perfect. Caroline and Jonathan were ideal hosts, and made us feel welcome without ever being intrusive. Their attentiveness during breakfast in particular made every day start in the best way possible. ||Our accommodation was nothing short of outstanding. The Coach House was the perfect honeymoon retreat, as a spacious, relaxing, comfortable place to rest up after a long day exploring the Lake District. Ameneties like the huge bath, luxurious bed, and in-room bluetooth speakers really made it a special place to stay. ||We'd happily come back in an instant, and would recommend Cedar Manor to anyone looking for an idyllic place to stay.

Just wow from start to finish. Owners could not do enough to make your stay feel luxurious from the moment you arrived. Host johnathan helped with the luggage and I have to say our room Claife Heights was gorgeous, the handmade furniture, comfortable bed, local luxuries like handsoap and shampoos, we had fresh milk and water in the fridge, bar of chocolate with Cedar Manor picture on , all the little touches were fabulous. Breakfast every morning was 10/10, the chef was great, one afternoon we booked the afternoon tea and I'm so pleased we did as I dare anyone to say they've tasted better, this was amazing, it was food heaven. Will definitely return. Keep up the great work and banter , Jonathan has a brilliant dry sense of humour.

As all the reviews have said Cedar Manor is First Class from the time you arrive to the time you leave. Caroline and Jonathan are great hosts and nothing is too much trouble. They will tell you anything you need to know about the surrounding area and great places to visit.|The breakfast is absolutely lovely everything you could ever want. We booked afternoon tea for my Birthday and all the extra touches were really appreciated. We will definitely return. Our room was large with the dressing room as an extra room was lovely. The bed was so comfortable. There is water and milk in the fridge which is nice. The view of the old man of Coniston out of the large window was amazing. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Very lovely building, small but warm. Garden in front is tiny and lovely. Location is good, very close to Windermere town, around 10 mins walk away. And if you have a car, there is no any problem going any where. Breakfast is good, many choices you can have. Pity that the room is a bit small but quite cute. The service here is so good! You can always get help if you need! Parking area is a bit tight, you have to watch out when parking.

We had the pleasure of enjoying afternoon tea at Cedar Manor in Windermere for my girlfriend’s birthday, and it was a truly lovely experience. We booked a later slot, which meant the setting was peaceful and quiet — we even had the lounge area to ourselves, which made it feel extra special. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by a gentleman who looked after us throughout. His service was attentive without being intrusive, adding to the relaxed atmosphere. The food was a real highlight. Afternoon tea began with some warming savoury dishes, including a beautifully smooth soup and a delicate fish cake — both a refreshing twist before the traditional treats. The classic tier followed, full of beautifully presented sweet delights that tasted as good as they looked. It was a perfect setting for a celebration, and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer way to spend the afternoon. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a refined, relaxing tea experience in Windermere.

Acid test... would I stay there again? YES, definitely.||We all had a great experience from the moment we walked down the drive! Caroline and Jonathan were wonderful and made our stay a memorable one. Our rooms were lovely, the atmosphere was great, and the food tremendous. They helped us navigate the area and made great suggestions about places to go and how to get there. It will be a great memory for all of us.
