2024 Best Cities for Bakeries

"If you're a fan of chef Cédric Grolet's viral Instagram videos, add his new café in the 2nd arrondissement to your wishlist. There, you'll find his signature trompe l'oeil fruit-inspired desserts and two brand-new delicacies: croissants-beignets and large pizzalike cookies with chocolate and hazelnuts." - Dobrina Zhekova

It’s popular and I m glad that I made a reservation and can go straight to second floor for breakfast. They charged 50euro upon booking. The staff is wonderful and help us take photos on the ground floor with the baked goods. Not that the quality of food is bad, however, it’s hard to eat 3 types of baked goods, 1 savoury dish and 2 drinks in 1.5 hours. Perhaps each piece of bread can be smaller. Thanks for packing the break in paper bag for me.

There was a line, but the line went pretty fast. Don't be shy. I paid 15€ for 3 items . There was no seating at this location. They desserts were amazing. I loved that they weren't too sweet at all, really so tasty.

Cédric Grolet Café feels overrated and is mostly visited by tourists. The croissant was disappointing—too mushy and lacked the flaky texture you'd expect. The raspberry pastry had a sharp acidity that was a bit overwhelming for my taste. While the pizza cookie with pecans tasted good, it was far too heavy for a dessert. Overall, it's a nice spot to try once, but it doesn’t live up to the hype

There was a long line, but it moved quickly, and the staff were very polite and cordial. While it’s not a place to sit and enjoy your order inside, I was disappointed with the takeaway packaging. In such a busy area, carrying a simple paper wrap smaller than the sweet isn’t practical—it’s awkward to walk around without risking the cookie getting smashed or bumped into by passing tourists. Regarding the taste, the cookie was overwhelmingly sweet, leaving a lingering buttery aftertaste that wasn’t entirely pleasant.

We picked up a few treats from Cédric Grolet Café for takeaway and were blown away by the quality. The three croissants—vanilla, blueberry, and apricot—were all incredible, with perfect layers and rich, balanced flavors. We also tried two cookies: hazelnut and pistachio-raspberry. The hazelnut cookie was especially outstanding and quickly became our favorite. The coffee was decent but nothing special compared to the pastries. There was a small line, but it moved quickly and was absolutely worth the wait. If you’re in Paris and love pastries, this café is a must-try.

First, there is a cafe here and they only take reservations. Second the pastries here are only prepared once. So once they are sold out, it is sold out for the day. There are actually 2 outlets here. One is facing the main road, entrance for the cafe and also the outlet selling their famous croissants. At the corner of the road, you will find another Cedric Grolet outlet that sells different pasties and also coffee. So do make your homework properly before queuing at the outlet you wanna buy from. The famous croissants almost sell out within the first 20-30 customers.

The cookies were very good. We tried the ones of chocolate/nuts and macadamia. However, the croissant filled with cream wasn’t the best. I believe that the price does not match the quality of the food. Additionally, having to wait outside to get the food when you already paid isn’t a nice policy.

It's the social media hype. We fell for it too. After lining up for some time, we realised that they had very little available. So you have to pick from what's left. The coffee was not great. The pastries I am sure must be good. But we didn't get to try many.
