My favorite of all the hotels on our trip. What a fun experience! The creativity put into designing this place, and emphasis on sustainability and repurposing materials was so incredible and inspiring. They emphasize a disconnect from technology (no TVs, Wi-Fi in shared space) which is refreshing when truly trying to spend time surrounded by so much nature. The meals were beyond phenomenal, using local ingredients and a gourmet culinary experience. The owner was present, accommodating, and very humorous, and the staff were truly wonderful. Could not recommended more highly!

A unique property with a personal welcome, excellent cooking and a great French rose wine at a reasonable price . And a great laundry service. If you want air conditioning and Netflix this is the wrong hotel for you. But if you want to open the window and enjoy the location and the atmosphere this is a beautiful place to stay. It’s in the mountains so will not be as warm or dry as in the valleys, but that is all part of the experience. And a great hike from the door.

Young adult Canadians here and we loved the place. Staff were friendly and helpful! Rooms were cool, comfortable and the views amazing. Food yummy and plentiful Very unique lodge to stay for a few days or to make a home base, would recommend to any friends visiting to Costa Rica! It's not your typical place (which we prefer), but makes for a unique experience. Will be back!

This is an oasis in nature. An eco-everything lodge that is comfortable and has incredible food. The food is a fusion of Costa Rican and French cuisine. Breakfast is included but I recommend doing the full board and leave it to the chef to create your 3 course meal. The lodge offers tours as well and has a 2km trail through first growth forest just across the street.

ONE HUGE PROBLEM: This paradisiacal place is so far away from my home! I will miss Chef and his amazing food, Paul and his incredibly warm hospitality, and the charming helpful staff. The location is beautiful and very well maintained. The outdoors come inside with the atrium where you can sit amongst beautiful plants whilst enjoying a great cafe negro. The rooms are quiet, well thought out, and well appointed. Everything is reclaimed wood, natural fibres, and glorious plants. The food is exceptional — everyone comments on it. A fusion cuisine that is based on a deep love for, and respect towards, the local ingredients. One appetizer dish was essentially “jungle sunomono” which was chayote squash lightly pickled and shredded into “noodles” along with garden vegetables. It was delightful. Chef uses manioc and banana in ways both intriguing and accessible. Le Guide Michelin, where are you? This place deserves a visit!

One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. A warm welcome from the owner Joel on arrival began a stay in which we felt every single detail was thought about to maximise ecology, efficiency, beauty, design, function and comfort. The food is incredible. The views are wonderful. I want to move in. Highly recommended.

The hotel is absolutely fabulous. Creative design, beautiful garden, super staff and incredible food. Lots of great birds and animals in the area, the cool red-eyes tree frog and even a sloth in the garden. All our group loved it. We’d come back in a heartbeat!

This is a small boutique eco-friendly hotel high on a hillside with very personal service and useful advice from the owner. The view from rooms is fantastic - we were lucky to be allocated the "honeymooners room" even without them knowing it was our wedding anniversary, though our daughter's room was also very comfortable! We had dinner on two evenings and found the food both good value and excellent, as it largely uses local ingredients, though many items had a French twist, reflecting the chef's nationality.|We also liked the well-lit lounge area (that overlooks and blends into the gardens and trail), both for reading and socialising. |We also opted to go to the recommended Chocolate Tour and found it excellent - our daughter had done one in Colombia and found this more informative and very good value. Sadly we missed going on the recommended Bird Watching tour, only managing to do one in Monte Verde (though many birds are naturally different).|The trek to Rio Celeste and the waterfall in Tenorio National Park is well worth it. We entered shortly after opening time at 8 a.m., when the wildlife (coatees, tapirs, and numerous varieties of birds) had not yet been scared away by tourists!
