On the Grid : Celicioso

"Whether you're fashionably gluten intolerant or a legitimate sufferer of celiac disease, Celicioso is a gluten-free bakery with a mouth-watering range of sweet treats. Actually, scratch that, even if you stuff your face with gluten on a regular basis, you should still go there. Who knows, one bite of their cheesecake and you might be an on-the-spot convert." - Half & Twice

Rude staff, the worst Granizada I’ve ever tasted - lumpy ice, full of lemon seeds, very sour , hardly any lemon and no sugar. When i asked to politely have it remade they just dumped it back into blender with another slice of lemon. I ended up throwing it out. Overpriced food as well for the quality. The bakery items are not worth it even if you are celiac. Go elsewhere!! This cafe needs to rethink their customer service and quality of the food and beverages they serve. Unacceptable!! Spain is full of delicious food and friendly restaurant staff. This place is not it !!

Great place for GF dining in Madrid! I visited Celicioso during a trip to Madrid- I was staying near the one on O’Donnell but also visited the one in Gran Via. This is a great venue for celiacs and/or someone requiring a low GF diet. I went as 1 of 3 people; I try to eat a low GF diet but have eaten gluten (so can tell the difference) and the I other 2 people eat gluten. We were all impressed with our food. When we went in we were worried about what food was available as the fridge was pretty empty (about 3pm) but we ordered from the menu. As a group we tried the pancakes, poached eggs with salmon and chicken sandwich. The only criticism was the bread was a bit dry, it would benefit from a spread that would make it moist. The pancakes were lovely- I had them with maple syrup which gave it flavour. I enjoy pancakes and have to say these fell into my top 10. I would recommend getting some fruit with it though, to add a different texture. The other two dishes were cooked well. Both stores in O’Donnell and Gran Via have large dining spaces to eat in, or if you want you can take away. In O’Donnell there is a large dining space downstairs. The service was good and the food came relatively quickly. For cakes we tried the lemon pie and the vegan black velvet cake slice. They were both well made- they pastry had a crumble and they both had good flavour. I consider pricing is reasonable- approx 14 euros each for a meal and drink. This is truly one of the nicest places I have eaten that offers a GF menu. I only wish there was one in England! I will definitely recommend visiting

Very nice place after a walk in The Retiro Park, This park is iconical and a stunning place of Madrid, the área where the cosy place is, beautiful and clasy. Have lovely cupcakes, nice coffee and gluten free deserts... recommended

Sandwich was dry and stale, my partner took two bites and refused to eat the rest. Tofu bowl; the rice tasted and felt like it was 3 days old with no flavour. I forced myself to eat half the bowl because I was starving. The gluten free cake was decent. Only thing I would give 3 stars. All for €32. Over priced, wouldn’t recommend.

It was my second time there. The service is great and the food delicious. The cookie was not fresh made but it was very tasty. It’s a nice spot near El Retiro what makes it the best place to go after a running or walking time. I payed around €12 for the breakfast in the picture (the toast was 10/10).

Bottom line: gluten free heaven in Madrid. Gluten line: every. Single. Thing. There's even ciders and beers! Long line: first stop in Madrid after a long flight for breakfast. Had a delicious truffle grilled cheese sandwich. There's a quick paced area upstairs but downstairs feels like a super cool Cafe. Would definitely recommend. Disclaimer: wifey and I both are Native Spanish speakers.

100% celiac safe which is great. Pastry was awesome (i got the Santiago something). A bit overpriced. The 10€ salad I got was all cheap chewy pieces of meat, sadly. But it was nice to have a food option near all the touristy stuff. If you can save your hunger for another celiac safe spot , I recommend doing that.
