Cellar Door Chocolates

I LOVE Cellar Door Chocolates! I have been there a number of times now, and I have never been disappointed. The atmosphere in their store is so cool and fun, and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable about all of their products. They make all of their chocolates right in their kitchen, so I always know I'm getting a product that has been given time and attention, which I really appreciate. My favorite has got to be their peanut butter cups with sea salt, which is my go-to item along with their brown sugar pecan bark. Since I fell in love with their chocolates myself, I thought it only fair to share the wealth with my family. I had them try my favorites, and also got a box of 16 assorted truffles (that I was able to choose myself upon recommendations from staff). After sharing with some of my family members, they too were converted to Cellar Door Chocolates lovers! They also have adorable specialty items on every holiday which is always a hit when getting together with family (or for a significant other on Valentine's Day). I would recommend that anyone in or around the Louisville area looking for quality, hand-made chocolates head over to Cellar Door Chocolates!

In a recent quest to find the best tasting bourbon ball in the city, I tried at least 10 different ones. I searched high and low and included the most popular local retailers as well as some from grandmas and aunts that friends and family swore were the best around. My conclusion after trying them all was I didn't need to look any further than Cellar Door Chocolates. The size, appearance and most importantly the taste was exactly what I imagined in a perfect bourbon ball. Their selection of other chocolates at a fair price combined with friendly service is a winning combination.

I brought a selection of bourbon balls, barks (the brown sugar pecan is amazing!), and truffles to my family for the holidays and they couldn't get enough of them. I love their daily special chocolate creations that they post of facebook (only like them if you want to be tempted to drive to there daily to get another piece of something super delicious). Overall, I am so thankful to live in a town that has such quality chocolate made by hand. Seriously, if you haven't paid them a visit you are cheating yourself out of an amazing chocolatey experience.

We went to Cellar Door Chocolates over Christmas while shopping in Butchertown Market, and I was amazed at the quality and selection of gourmet chocolates. This place is truly a gem. We were able to make a custom box of uniquely flavored bourbon balls, (the mocha bourbon balls and smokehouse bourbon balls were our favorites) and we couldn't keep from helping ourselves to salted peanut butter cups. The shop has the most welcoming atmosphere, and the product really sells itself. Whenever we know someone going through town, we beg them to bring us some chocolates from Cellar Door.

Hope all is well with the owners/ employees, but I visited both locations today to find paper signs saying they were temporarily closed. There was no mention of the closure in the website. It’s definitely disappointing as it is the day before Valentines Day. The truffles are very good and a lot of their work is aesthetically appealing. I’ll definitely give them another shot at a later time, but I wish I could have the wasted travel time back today.

If you like wax in chocolate this is your place. I got a cinimon truffle and it tasted as if I ate a ghost pepper. The package was sealed with paper and tape. And you could tell that it was very old the chocolate had started to bloom. I would not recommend this place to someone who wants a nice treat.

I have been here several times,during the Day of the Dead Celebration. They make excellent Mexican hot chocolate for the occasion. The desserts are decadent, and they are dog friendly. Highly recommended.

Cellar Door Chocolates has the best chocolates around town! I am a chocolate fiend and there is always something tasty and delicious to be had at Cellar Door in Butchertown Market. There are so many different kinds of truffles your head will spin and your mouth will water! Not only can you pick from an amazing array of these truffles, but they also have a gourmet selection of barks, bourbon balls, and many other hand crafted confections.
