Just finished our first visit to Hill Country wines. Cellar Rats were OUTSTANDING! They did a remarkable job of designing and facilitating our two days of tours. Impressive knowledge of local wine and wineries. If you are serious about wine (or just curious) this is the only tour group you should work with. Absolutely recommend them.

Myself and two other friends decided to check out Fredericksburg on a day trip from San Antonio. I chose cellar rat wine tours because I was looking for a small group tour with a curated itinerary - and definitely not a party bus atmosphere. Chris was our guide on our tour. We all met up at the Visitors Center and set out. Our itineraries included about four stops, and a delicious lunch. Chris was professional, very knowledgeable, and it felt like going on a wine tour with a friend who shared their industry knowledge. The pours at the wineries were generous and delicious, and the staff at each stop, was happy to talk about the lines and help us learn. I had no idea about the Texas wine scene and walked away much more knowledgeable. I would recommend Rat Cellar tours to anybody looking for a relaxed atmosphere and a curated itinerary led by a highly knowable guide.

My husband booked this tour to celebrate my birthday and we had no idea what to expect. Clint was our guide and he went above and beyond showing us the best of what Fredricksburg has to offer. We had the absolute best time touring amazing properties and learning to appreciate wine culture. We started our day with an AMAZING wine/food pairing and ended with a picnic/tasting in a treehouse! We even had an added last minute stop and had the chance to taste Clint’s own wine (not even mentioned by him, but by someone else on the tour). It was the absolute best day. My wife and I had to pivot from a trip that involved going through Hurricane Helene ravaged North Carolina. We changed our plans at the last minute to include Fredericksburg and Texas wine country. We didn't know that was a thing when we started so we needed help. So many people were complimentary of Cellar Rat that we felt we would be in good hands. What an understatement! Chris (our guide), picked us up at our door as promised, took us to the wineries and made sure our every need was met. He narrated the drive along the way with businesses and what was interesting about them as we passed. Full fledged tour guide, not just a guide for our stops. Chris was a porter for our wine, a photographer for our travels and a fun personality with which to spend time. We had so many wonderful wines, met great people at each winery and came up with targets to explore on the following day. It was a very beneficial investment and we would absolutely do it again.

My boyfriend booked this tour for us for my birthday weekend away in Fredericksburg. Chris was our tour guide, and he was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the wine industry not just here in Texas but all over. We learned so much from him, and Cellar Rat picked 3 top-notch wineries for us to visit. Cellar Rat Wine Tours is top-notch! From the initial inquiry communication to the completion of the tour. First and foremost I appreciate the professionalism shown by Cadye with her prompt emails and answering all of my questions. She and Clint put together an awesome itinerary, our only ask was to tour Slate Theory. Everything else was suggested and curated by Cellar Rat. Second I appreciate Clint, for the whole experience the day of the tour. We paid for a private tour and it was just that. He sent a text the morning of the tour to let me know when he was set to arrive. He arrived 1 minute early in the SUV and greeted us when we came out. He had a cooler in the truck with ice and water. He is well versed in all things vino and super down-to-earth. We started the tour at Texas Wine Collective where they rolled out the red carpet. We were doing the tour on a Monday so we pretty much had the whole winery/tasting room to ourselves. Sandy at Texas Wine Collective was awesome, ask for her if you visit. While we did our tasting, Clint went to grab our lunch from Fresh Pickens. The food was AWESOME! It hit the spot definitely after all the wine and cheese Sandy gave us! After lunch, we took some photos around the property then hopped in the SUV and on to the next winery, Kuhlman Cellars. Where we were met by Malachi. Malachi served us a flight of 5 wines, 3 selected by Kuhlman and 2 selected by my wife and me. We took a couple of photos out near the vines then headed on to the last winery, Slate Theory. Slate Theory's tasting room is by far the best experience. Words can't explain it. By the time we got to Slate Theory we didn't really want to learn about the wine, we just wanted to drink; and that we did. We hung out there for about an hour before heading back to the Airbnb. Great day of drinking! Met some awesome people and got to enjoy my wife on our anniversary. Clint knew everybody by the way, definitely makes the difference when you visit because you feel like family at each location. The only thing I would change about the tour would be to add an actual tour of the facilities and vineyard to the experience. I'm a visual learner and it would be cool to tour the distillation area and barreling process while learning about the wines. All in all, I give Cellar Rat Tours 5 STARS "A+++". PS: Slate Theory charged us for the wine tasting and Clint stepped in and handled the situation and orchestrated the refund to our credit card. This guy does it all! He's our main man for real. I booked Cellar Rat Tours so that our entire group of 6 could enjoy tastings at the two wineries we had appointments at. Clint the owner and our driver for the day picked us up at our hotel promptly at 10. He was actually a few minutes early, but for our group that was great we were already to get the day started. Two of our friends had never been to Fredericksburg before so it was nice that Clint could share all kinds of fun facts with them. We were driven around in Clint's 7 passenger SUV that looked like it was brand new. It had plenty of room for everyone and for the few purchases that were made. After our tastings we had lunch at Hye Market, food there was great. After headed back into town where Clint dropped us back at our hotel. We had an amazing day with Clint. While we only reserved the private transportation, he walked us into each winter and made sure we were greeted and that we were part of his group. Everyone knew him! He had so many tips and was so kind. I will be using his company again, hopefully have him as our driver for another girls weekend. I cannot say enough good things. Leading up to this weekend I was researching several private transportation companies. One of them had hidden costs. Cellar Rat was very quick to answer my questions and seemed very straightforward with their pricing. That is why I booked with them and I'm really glad I made that choice.

Clint was PHENOMENAL!! Book with them, you won't regret it! We booked private transportation where we booked our own tours, and they were really great giving us suggestions on lunch ideas that would be along the route. Every vineyard we went to spoke so highly of Clint and we were treated so well everywhere we went. He was professional, fun, extremely knowledgeable, and safe. Our last vineyard actually allowed us to saber a bottle in large part because Clint reached out to the owner. Will definitely be booking with him in the future!

Updated Review: We just celebrated our 2nd Anniversary and our 2nd trip out to Fredericksburg with Cellar Rat Wine Tours hosting our tastings. We love these guys more than ever after going out with Clem for a tour of William Chris, Pecan St Brewery, Hye Rum, and Pedernales. Clem was a fantastic host for the day! With several years in the Industry and a passion for wine making, we received the red carpet experience! We once again had a great time touring and learning from an expert. They will tell you as much, or as little, as you want to know - but make no mistake, these guys know what they're talking about! Book your wine tours with Cellar Rat, you'll be in great hands!

We had a phenomenal time on the tour for our family trip (6 people). Cadye was really helpful getting everything all set up on the front end; Clint's phenomenal positive energy, incredible industry knowledge, and evident rapport with all of of the wineries/vintners made the trip incredibly enjoyable. Can't imagine doing a wine tour with anyone else.

BOOK WITH THEM! From the beginning Cayde was a great help with booking and recommending different places and atmospheres. We were looking for a mixture of red and white wines as well as making a stop at a brewery. As this trip was taken to relax a bit we opted to go a more relaxing atmosephere. The three stops that we made were great and weren't typical touristy places which made it even better. Chris was our tour guide and he was awesome!! He gave us recommendations of where to eat, information about the areas, and overall was very personable! We couldn't have asked for a better tour guide, he took all of our bags back to the car, he mentioned that he had umbrellas just in case, and was great about letting us know that he was on his way and that there was a little delay. This company isn't like others, they listen to what you are looking for in the experience and there were no problems! Chris even found our airbnb that was a bit off the beaten path. I would book with them again!

I cannot say enough good things about Clint and Cayde and Rat Cellar Wine tours! If you're looking for options during the pandemic, contact them! Cayde was very informative, professional, and has been staying up-to-date with all the current laws with the changing issues in the pandemic. But the moment your tour starts, Clint takes away all your worries and concerns, and created a fun atmosphere filled with lots of knowledge and wine tasting! If you're looking for a sommelier who knows his stuff, Clint is your guy! If you want your sommelier to not be pretentious, again, Clint is your guy! I would highly recommend them to anyone who does not know Fredericksburg, and anyone from novice level to expert level of wine expertise. We made awesome memories thanks to Rat Cellar, and would use them again in a heartbeat!

A group of girlfriends and I came to Fredericksburg for a bachelorette party and chose to do wine tours with Cellar Rat... BEST decision! Clem was our guide and we can't say enough good things about him! It was such a fun, convenient way to see multiple wineries without having to think about anything. Booked a tour with Cellar Rat during the first day of our trip to Fredericksburg since we had never been. We thought a tour would be a good way to get our bearings. We stayed just out of town on the west side of 490 so our "wine" tour started with a quick tour of main street which was helpful later when making dining decisions and deciding our our tourist stops. Clint was very knowledgeable about the town, the wineries, wine in general, and very personable. He had all our stops planned out and tastings booked. Definitely relaxing to have all that handled for you so you can enjoy your vacation. The tours are somewhat determined by the agenda/goal of the people on the tour meaning you stops might be different. I was told some tours are based on the best views, best wines, and possibly distillery tours if that is of interest. We wanted an idea of what the area had to offer which took us to Kuhlman, William Chris, and Astris. We also had some samples during lunch at Hye Market which was a great stop as well. Several stops included a tour of the grounds and a behind the scene look at the production side of wine making. We ended the trip that day with about a dozen bottles of wine, a mix of reds and white, which is a testament to the quality of the stops and wines the area has to offer as we primarily drink dry red wines; typically pinot noirs. Would definitely recommend Rat Cellar and look forward to touring with them again next trip.

We had a great time with Cellar Rat Wine Tours! Everything went smoothly from booking to the actual tour. Cadye provided a quick and thoughtful response to our initial inquiry and walked us through creating the best tour for our group. She was patient while I got consensus with the group of which wineries we wanted to visit. On the day of the tour, Chris picked us up on time and gave us an overview of what we could expect throughout the day. We had a lot of questions and he answered them well. Our group stopped at Kuhlman Cellars, William Chris and Pedernales. Having worked in the industry, Chris was able to get us some "behind the scenes" looks at the wineries. He also was patient when we wanted to have another glass at certain wineries. Not to mention, he was always willing to help us document the trip with a picture! I can't forget to mention we also had lunch at Hye Market where we got to taste some of the Cellar Rat wines! They were great! The restaurant itself is in a post office that is still operating and looks like it did back when it opened decades ago. Chris was also sure to make sure we had snacks and water throughout our trip! I would highly suggest booking Cellar Rat Wine Tour to learn more about Texas wine culture and the area.

We toured with Cellar Rat Wine Tours for the second time today and we had an absolute blast. You are treated to such a fun experience with delicious wines (and not to mention, plenty of learning), good food, and a great travel buddy and conversationalist to boot. Some may argue the company is pricey considering the available wine shuttles, but it is SO worth it. You get plenty of attentiveness, the day is laid-back with ZERO planning on your part, and you get home at the end of the day feeling great and hopefully, with some delicious wine. I love Cellar Rat Wine Tours and would highly recommend to anyone hoping to check out the wine scene around the Fredericksburg area.

We attended a wine tour/tasting and were extremely pleased with the entire experience. From the start when I reached out to book it until we got dropped off. Chris, our guide was excellent and went out of his way to accommodate us. He is also knowledgeable regarding the wine, spots, and was extremely profesional & nice. They made accommodations to pick up & drop us off where we were staying. He kept the van cool for us & our wine during this hot weather. My sister and I had a blast! Chris, our guide was knowledgeable, professional and prompt! He was also really nice about rounding up our group to leave to the next winery....we weren't always good listeners regarding the leaving part!! Lol!!! Great memories were made and our group even became friends and met out later! Even calling the place to set up was simple. The company was very helpful in setting up where we should go...ex- I said my sister and I only liked dry wines. Out of 19 samples...only ONE wine was sweet! Perfect trip!--we visited William Chris, Kuhlman and Pedernales. Our fave---WILLIAM CHRIS! They were all nice though!!!

Toured with Clem and Rat Cellar Wine Tour over the weekend for a girl friend's bachelorette weekend. We had a 11 people with us for the tour so were in their largest tour van, and even with the large number of people Clem was able to keep the tour feeling small and intimate. 2 of the 11 people were very interested in the actual wine making process and Clem to the extra time to discuss more in depth the process as well as show the group the actual wine cellar where the wine was stored. Lunch was provided in the cost and this made this tour group even more attractive to us, as all the other tour groups we looked at did not provide that. If you're looking for more of a personalized tour from an experienced professional, this tour is definity with the price of admission. Cheers!

Clint's knowledge of wine-Texas wine in particular is mind boggling! The entire experience was perfect...booking, picked us up in time, the perfect wineries, lunch....everything! What a great way to experience Texas Hill Country wine! This was my first time in Fredericksburg and Clint did a great job of selecting wineries that matched our tastes perfectly. As a bonus, he gave us an exclusive tour of one of the wineries we visited. His van was comfortable and roomy, and he even left it running during our stops so that our wine that we purchased didn't get too warm. Wineries visited - Pontotoc vineyard (tasting room only), William Chris Winery, and Lewis Winery. Then we ended at Hye Market where we got to taste some locally made foods, moonshine, and bourbon. All in all, an excellent way to spend a Saturday.

We did a tour with Clem and it was amazing! Having someone who works in the industry (they all do!) adds a level of knowledge and fun you can't get anywhere else. Additionally, he was so great and opened all our doors and carried our packages and put up with our giggly tipsy antics. We had an awesome lunch and I loved the wineries we went to. We booked Cellar rat for a bachelorette party wine tour. It was fantastic. From the booking with Cayde with receiving recommendations on where to go and highlights of each winery to the day of with Clint being our guide. He is the best! He is very knowledgeable and informative through out the tour. He helped us at each and every winery to help gather our things and take them out to the shuttle, he got us blankets (at Kuhlman) when we we are not used to the cold room, he took fantastic pictures of our group and provided great recommended spots, and he was all around very helpful, comical, and pleasant throughout the entire tour. We enjoyed every bit of it and would definitely recommend Cellar Rat to everyone!

Clint from Cellar Rats was the perfect driver and escort for 3 excellent wineries in Hye, TX. He was absolutely right on time to pick up 9 of us. He was professional yet friendly. The cooler was stocked with water to keep us hydrated. We appreciated his help in and out of the van at each stop. Our only tip for improvement was lunch. The sandwiches were very basic....heating them or using a panini press would have been an improvement. Perhaps other Hye Market options would have been tastier. This was the only concern of the trio. Our group is already planning our next Cellar Rats trip on 2017....definitely a 5 star experience.

My gf and I toured with Cellar Rat Wine Tours this past weekend. Each of the wineries & distillery (Kuhlman, Calais, Garrison Brothers) were extremely impressive and provided a top notch experience. We were highly impressed with the knowledge our tour guide, Tom, provided us throughout the course of the day. Tom was extremely personable and was able to give us great recommendations on other area wineries and different places to eat around the area. I would definitely tour with Cellar Rat again.

Tour was fantastic. The guide (Clem) was very knowledgeable and knew all of the owners of the places we visited. The tastings were intimate and we had our own sections when we arrived at places. Will definitely use them again when we go back. This is an actual tour, not a shuttle to just drive you around.

Some of the most fun we've had as a family. Took my parents and siblings on a wine tour with Cellar Rat and it was an amazing experience! Our tour guide, whose name I can't remember, was so cordial, polite and knowledgeable. Treated us above and beyond, having the outmost patience with us answering all my dad's technical questions about wine, grapes, farming methods, etc, etc. I got talking to him on a more personal level and came to find out that besides being an excellent tour guide, he is a proud Vet! Highly suggest you sit up front on the passenger sit and share some stories with him next time you book a tour with these guys! Btw, Cellar Rat, that guy needs a raise!

The very best tour in Fredericksburg! Ok I haven't used all of them but we could not have had a better time on our 5 hour trip. Clem was our tour guide and he is extremely knowledgable about the local wines and the wine making process. Willing tell you as much as you want to know! Lunch in Hye was good as well. Definitely worth the money and time!

Clint was a great tour guide!!!! We had a fantastic time and would recommend this tour to anyone! The tour was organized, van was comfortable and stocked with water. The wineries were great and a stop at the Garrison Bros distillery was very cool.

Had a great time tasting at three wineries with my friends visiting from out of state. They like wine, but had never been to a winery/tasting. When I booked Clint recommended 3 wineries that had a good combination of wine varieties, comfy tasting rooms, and Hill Country views. Clem was our tour guide, and was both a pleasure to spend time with and very knowledgeable about wine making at most Hill Country wineries. The tour went along at a leisurely pace that gave us all time to appreciate what each winery had to offer. He included a tour of one of the production facilities also. And the van was very comfortable. We did the recommended lunch at Hye Market, and it was a big hit. Food was freshly prepared and very tasty. Friends had a great time that they will talk about for a long time. This will be my go-to tour when friends come to visit, for sure.

I was visiting Fredericksburg for the first time with my girlfriend and also celebrating an anniversary/birthday. Wanting something special but unsure of what to expect, I decided to go with Cellar Rat because a) they were the first people to call me back after leaving a voicemail b) Clint made me laugh multiple times when we talked on the phone and c) he offered me a bunch of different options and answered all of my random questions. After deciding to go for a 2-person private wine tour, Clem picked us up at our B&B on Sunday morning. From the beginning, he was so friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He started off by giving us some background on his experience and then explained our itinerary for the day. Every single winery we visited was absolutely amazing. And it wasn't just a "drop off and shuttle in" service. The first stop included a walk through some of the vines, and him explaining how the grapes are grown/harvested. I think the best part was knowing that as soon as we walked into a place, Clem handled everything - getting us setup with the tasting, even adding some additional feedback about the wines. We also had a personalized visit through multiple production rooms to see how the wine was made. We even got to taste some of the grapes! This was honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. Thank you so much to Clem for making our trip so incredible. I can't wait to be back!

My girlfriends and I were coming to Fredericksburg for a girls trip and contacted Clint to take us on a wine tour - thankfully he was available because we had the time of our lives! Clint is very well connected with the hill country wine industry and because of that we were treated really well at each stop and got to see a few behind the scenes places. He also takes care of carrying everything for you, etc which just makes for a nice, carefree day! The best reason to hide him is that you can have a fun, interesting day without doing any planning whatsoever. Clint has an outgoing, funny personality which makes him a great guide. The next time I come back to Hill Country, I'll definitely be contacting him!
