The Celtic Royal Hotel in Caernarfon has some excellent features, particularly its location. Being so close to the town centre and offering convenient on-site parking makes it an ideal base for exploring the area. The communal public areas are very well-maintained and quite impressive, though, unfortunately, the same can’t be said for the rooms, which feel very dated and in need of modernisation.
The food was a definite highlight, with the BBQ wings being especially delicious. However, the service in the restaurant was incredibly disjointed. Starters arrived after the mains, and each person in our group received their food around 10 minutes apart, which made for a frustrating dining experience.
One standout part of our stay was the fantastic lady working at reception. She was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. She is truly a credit to this hotel and to the hospitality industry as a whole.
The pool, sauna, and steam room are excellent facilities—clean, well-maintained, and a real bonus to the stay.
Overall, I’d consider staying here again because of the great location and facilities, but I would hope for a more modern and comfortable room next time.
