Celtic Royal Hotel

Absolutely NO! I am currently here with my family - hoped we'd celebrate nice and cosy... Alas! That's NOT the case! This "hotel" is a joke, where should I start: When we booked a month ago we specifically asked if there will be a place to dine APART from the gala dinner organised by the "hotel' otherwise we would NOT have booked this place. That was not the case we only got to know upon our arrival (after paying the non refundable rate). Not only was the staff we spoke with over the phone uninformed but also the one who checked us in didn't even bother to inform us we needed a reservation for tonight 01/01, too. So here we are looking for a reataurant again! I want to mention also that the spa working hours are different from the ones we were informed about on the phone. Won't even comment that the pool was proper cold! On top of that, there was no hot water in the room shower yesterday on New Year's Eve - thanks so much!, which miraculously appeared after we complained today! I could go on but my holidays have already been ruined so I'd rather not. Please, don't put yourself into this situation! Avoid it straight away!!!

Brilliant hotel. Large enough to offer plenty of good options and good service but small and more personal to care about guests needs! Very conveniently located, close to town centre, castle and marina. Super friendly and helpful staff ( especially at the pool and at the reception) Pool and area were very well attended to and clean. Great addition! Our room was a bit dated but clean and comfortable, with a small tv, tea/coffee etc and local info. Very good. Lift also available. Parking -payable. Nice, smart and modern area at reception , bar and restaurant too. Whole family loved the pool and sauna&steam room. Meals at the bar seemed a bit pricey for us so we ate in town ( pizza place called Tan - very good!) but enjoyed a drink and some family games after swimming. Good to have the option to eat in though. Would return and stay again - thank you.

Nice hotel. Our room was a good size. Bath was small in size. Water temperature was hot. Bed was small not very comfortable. Staff was pleasant. Stayed for dance xmas weekend. Dance floor was great. Food great. We had used the swimming pool and saunas. Very nice.

Honestly didn’t have a great time. Booked for NYE, was told we couldn’t use the spa on NYD after check-out time because of “insurance”-which is the first time I’ve heard of this and I’ve been to a lot of spa hotels! Opening times were incorrectly listed for spa, thought they’d run Sunday opening times which would have been 7am, but as it was NYD it wasn’t until 10am which they hadn’t made clear anywhere, so we only had an hour to “enjoy” it. When I say “enjoy”, we got there at 10:15 and they were already out of towels, and told us we had to go back upstairs to our room to get our room towels, which were of course wet from our morning showers. When we got inside, the sauna was off, the pool & jacuzzi were cold, and it was rammed full of kids. Honestly about 15 from babies to 13. It’s not a huge pool, they were bombing in, splashing, shouting, parents didn’t care and just stood around chatting in the pool or were on one of the 6 available loungers. The manager of the hotel came and chatted to the receptionist at one point, popped her head in, and went back to chatting with the receptionist so clearly this is normal. There was literally no where for us to go to get away from it. We went to the steam room, 6 of the parents in there chatting and laughing so loudly that my partner asked after 5 mins if they could keep it down a bit because it was an onslaught from the echoing screams of the kids and then their loud parents in here - the only place we could get away from them. It didn’t feel like a spa, more like kids leisure centre. And seriously, why was the pool cold and the sauna off?! And only 6 chairs. Madness. Absolutely would not stay again. Room was dated, windows didn’t open a crack and it was deathly hot in the room. Curtain rail also fell off while opening the curtains. And no one came to serve us coffee at breakfast despite trying to flag them down a bunch of times. Not that I care about stuff like that normally but was just the cherry on the cake. Not worth the money, and they want to charge you £10 for parking too?

The Royal Celtic Hotel in Caernarfon delivers exactly what you hope for in a small Welsh town stay: comfort, warmth, and character. The rooms are impressively spacious, not just “enough room to move around,” but genuinely roomy, making it easy to settle in and feel at home. The food is excellent. It’s hearty, flavourful, and clearly prepared with care. But the real jewel in their crown is the people. Every single member of the team radiates friendliness, not the perfunctory kind, but genuine, old-school hospitality that makes you feel like you’ve just come home after a long journey. We chose it because it was classed as dog-friendly, but achieves this in the truest sense: not merely “allowed,” but warmly welcomed. It’s easily one of the most welcoming places I’ve ever stayed. If you’re visiting Caernarfon and want a stay that’s as warm as it is comfortable, the Royal Celtic should be at the top of your list.

We have stayed at this hotel many times now - and for good reasons! We stay with two dogs (when they say they’re dog friendly, it extends beyond the luxury dog beds, bowls and packets of treats provided - the staff are definitely dog people too!) and our latest stay yet again did not disappoint. Spotless room, staff on reception that go the extra mile and more, and a breakfast to die for. Thank you to Jules, Juliet, and Kim on the desk especially. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them. We’ll be back again very soon!

Perfect location, staff are very helpful and cant do enough for u food it spectacular. Very very clean hotel but bedrooms are a little dates and rooms are very warm even without heating on but the do have air-conditioning so that helped. Swimming pool sauna and steam room where a bonus and clean they also provided extra towels to use this facility. Entertainment every night during our stay which I was surprised at as its November and midweek. Definitely would stay again and recommed👍👌

Disappointing Stay – Needs Significant Improvement||The hotel’s central location is undoubtedly its greatest asset — everything is easily accessible, which was very convenient. Unfortunately, this is where most of the positives end.||The room itself was below the standard I expected. The bathroom was outdated and not well maintained. Even more concerning, the windows wouldn’t close properly, and we had to use towels to block the cold air. The beds were uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's rest. One of the amenities I had specifically looked forward to, the spa area, was out of order during my stay — a major let down.|Small and not nice changing rooms, to lock the locker you had to pay extra. ||Breakfast was particularly disappointing. The food quality was very poor: overcooked fried eggs, low-quality bacon, and only one pot of strawberry jam for all guests — with no marmalade at all. While the tinned beans and tomatoes were passable, the overall breakfast experience fell far below what I would expect from a hotel of this kind.||Service was inconsistent. One staff member in the breakfast area — originally from Romania — was warm, helpful, and professional. He was a true credit to the hotel. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff were neither friendly nor attentive, which added to the overall feeling of neglect.||In summary, this was an underwhelming stay. Unless significant improvements are made in both facilities and service, I would not consider returning.

Staff was friendly upon waking in. Hotel is neat looking from the pictures but upon pulling in... We can see that photos online can be very deceiving. This was booked on Expedia and looked to be a great spot based on 884 Trip Advisor reviews and 4.5 stars. Errrrr wrong. Room smells like cheese and is hot as balls. There is an "A/C" in the room but the control to use it is kept at the front desk and they'll bring it to you so you can use it, but it goes back with them. Well, after all that you find out it doesn't work any way but they'll bring you fans, but no outlets near the bed to plug them in. Furniture is filthy, old, and dirty. Spots on walls and doors. Pillows are a joke. Don't book.

This had to be the worst experience of my holiday Rooms need updating and are dirty The air conditioner did not work and the window open inwards over the kitchens do was useless to open They have one remote for the AC at reception and you have to call room service for an adjustment on a unit that didn't work anyway It was like a Monte Python episode

This place is well presented and has a friendly staff up front. It appears to be the place to stay in Caernafon, there were several different groups staying and a wedding going on when we stayed last night! I enjoyed sitting in the different lounge rooms adjoining the lobby and the bar, and thought the place was well put together. The rooms are standard and clean, and breakfast was pretty standard. No complaints!
