I always enjoy visiting this shop. It’s a must-visit if you’re passionate about your drinks. Overall the selection in the shop is amazing. The size of the shop is not massive and yet they have a huge selection of everything, especially whiskey. The staff are beyond friendly, and knowledgable. Down to the point of giving very specific recommendations based on your tasting notes and interests. I went in to look for something that could not be found outside of Ireland, and they didn’t disappoint. I was given several options, some of them were even unique just to the shop itself. Great shop, highly recommend a visit.

Celtic Whiskey Shop has a fast efficient response but the carrier UPS, one of two providers offered to deliver to Australia are a nightmare. They do not respond to telephone or email and their website is shocking to use. Watch out for custom charges that you/or receiver are liable for when items are delivered.

Me and some buddies bought a bunch of bottles including several barrel picks and i must say every single one has been amasing so far, the staff have been quick to answer emails, and they even included some samples and a hand written note in the box. 5/5 would shop again

Literally from the second I walked in to the time I left the service here was too notch. Everyone was kind and pleasant. It's not too big but also not too small either. Literally the perfect selection of whiskey and more. I loved how the employees explained the whiskey to me and gave their personal recommendations as well. This place is magical. Very magical. Have you ever walked into a spirits shop and said to yourself, "I'm in love"? That's the feeling I had when I entered the Celtic Whiskey Shop. This place offers a vast array of tremendous whiskeys, especially, those that aren't carried in the U.S. -- such as pot stilled whiskeys, which I picked up a bottle of one by Teeling Distillery to bring back with me. If you're a connoisseur of spirits such as whiskeys -- especially, those produced in Ireland, you will love Celtic Whiskey Shop. Additionally, they offer a diverse selection of other spirits (vodkas, gins, rums, etc.) and wines. The decor is also inviting to those who want to take a peak with its rustic wooden walls, shelving, and floors. Celtic Whiskey Shop is almost like walking into an old bookshop, but has bottles of booze instead of books. The staff was very helpful and recommended some good selections before I decided on a bottle of the Teeling pot still whiskey. Making my first experience at the store, as well as this part of my vacation, and first time in Dublin, a... (wait for it) ... magical one.

Still love this shop!! I made a recent purchase of two bottles of whiskey. One personalized for a retirement, and since I was buying a gift.... and paying shipping... seemed logical to get a little bottle for me too. All in all, the cost for both bottles, the shipping and the personalization; still less then I would have paid here for just one bottle. I love that when I order, they tell me when the shipment has been "dispatched", with the FedEx tracking number and an estimated number of businesses days till it will be sent. And the selection! I am able to pick up rare bottles, bottles I have have never seen stateside and long time favorites. I also love knowing the feeling that I'm getting it closer to the source. The packaging, what fantastic!! I have never see. Such amazing packaging for shipping. It came across the ocean with not a scratch on any bottle, box or crease in a paper container. This shop has it figured out. I've only purchased whiskey, scotch, cordials and such; however they also sell beer and ales. May I just rave about this lovely store? My friend and I were visiting from a cruise and was on a hunt for Irish Whiskey that I could not buy at home. This store is absolutely full of a variety of alcohol to meet everyone's needs. Now, this is standard. One is not going to find too many liquor stores that does not have a shortage of alcohol. Nor is it exceptional to find many different shelves and solid lighting to display their product. These are not exceptional items. What this store did have exceptional was fantastic customer service. The salespeople were just fun. They laughed, joked, gave us samples and wonderful suggestions. They were fully engaged and made us feel welcomed. I don't think I have had such a good experience buying whiskey as I did here. I would highly recommend people visit this fanatic location!

Nice whiskey ans scotch selection. The employees know their products and are cery good to help you find exactly what you want/like. They also have wines, Champagne, etc. Will definitely go back.

I came here looking for a bottle of Irish whiskey I wouldn't be able to find in the States and explained this to the man counting money behind the counter (it was nearly closing time.) He conferred with another employee and decided that Cooley Distillery's Greenore Single Grain Small Batch was the Irish whiskey for me. While purchasing the booze, I explained that I needed to take the bottle back in my suitcase with me so it was promptly bubble wrapped. While the selection here is grand, if you want to chat extensively before buying I recommend coming in well before closing. The environment was pretty frenetic (boxes everywhere, cashier visibly frustrated) when I stopped by near quitting time.

The spirit selection here is superb. Upon walking into this cosy establishment, you are surrounded by friends on the shelves - a warm feeling I do enjoy. The staff here are very helpful and you can find some nice and hard to find bottles. On occasion they have samples, around lunch time, of the spirits they are promoting. One thing worth noting, however, is that their prices are higher than their competitors. Not marginally higher, significantly higher. For instance, a 700ml bottle of Jameson was 4 Euro higher than Dunnes around the corner or Tesco in Jervis. For less common items, this is the perfect shop. Or if you had questions or wanted to broaden your tools of inebriation, then I'd rather seek counsel from this lot than your local teen at Tesco.

They certainly have the widest selection of Irish Whiskey and Scottish Whisky in a brick and mortar environment in Dublin. The have everything from run of the mill single malts to the rarer bottling including independent bottlers and everything in between from blended to no age statement. You can also find bourbon, Gin and many other spirits here. As the second part of the name suggests they carry lots of wines as well as beers but I mainly come here for the single malts. The only downside here is price, they are priced at the higher end and you can find bottles cheaper on-line or source them from other places around Ireland. Its not that I have a problem with the price but I do have an issue with +10% for some bottles. Anyway, well worth a visit.

I agree with other reviewers that the selection here is good. However the staff I encountered were less than helpful and didn't seem the least bit interested in helping me find what I was looking for. The young man I tried to ask was looking over my head the entire time I was talking to him and obviously not listening to me. When I asked if another brand might be similar to the one I was looking for he just scoffed, said they were completely different and moved off to speak to another woman. In the future I'll be taking my business to the other whisky shop.

I ordered and had shipped 6 bottles of whiskey to California. First of all, The staff was really helpful with picking out the best within my budget that I couldn't get in the US and second of all, everything came on time and wrapped carefully unscathed. When I am back in town, I'll surely stop by again to get more! Is it a little more than duty free? Yes but I didn't have to haul 6 bottles... win/win!

Wines on the Green sits very nicely alongside its whiskey selling counterpart, the Celtic Whiskey Shop. In fact, they are run by the same people and even share the same front door. The wine part sells a huge variety of reds, whites and a very very impressively large range of champagnes (I know this because I spend a good part of every visit here drooling over some 250 euro bottle I'll never be able to afford). There is also a very large range of discounted wines at the front of the store... these usually go for about 7 or 8 euro and don't look half bad either...

I personally know next to nothing about Whiskey (despite becoming a "certified" whiskey taster at the Old Jameson Distillery) but I'd like to know more. I keep thinking that if I know all about whiskey, I will gradually begin to like it. I have this image in my head of the kind of girl that drinks two fingers of whiskey on the rocks. That girl is a badass and, for whatever crazy reason, I want to be her. This shop is step one in becoming that girl, because not only is it stuffed to the brim with dozens, maybe even hundreds of whiskeys, but the staff is extraordinarily knowledgeable. They know so much about the stuff, I kind of just want to hang out there and absorb as much information as I can. Hopefully I can absorb enough whiskey that it no longer tastes like jet fuel distilled through dirt. Also, this is a way better place to get souvenirs for your friends and family. What are they really going to do with a keychain of a sheep wearing a leprechaun hat? They're going to throw it away. Give em a bottle of whiskey and they're going to really enjoy it. WITH YOU. Win win.

Anytime I see the term Celtic on a shop front the negative associations that O'Carrolls shops have forced on me arise once more. So I was wary checking this place out. Window display got a big thumbs up and pulled me in. It really is a great place, best selection of whiskey that I have ever seen in Ireland. It's mellow and somewhat rustic in there, they really managed to personify the quality of a good whiskey with the decor. Staff are very helpful, I usually go for Middleton but they talked me round in to exploring different stuff, not in a pushy way, actually the bottle I ended up buying was cheaper then what my intended purchase was.

Worth a stop for whiskey lovers. This shop is not far from St. Stephens Green in the heart of Dublin. They have a huge selection of Irish whiskeys - many that are not readily available outside of Ireland. The staff is knowledgeable and usually has a few bottles open for tasting.

I was visiting Dublin and went into this wine shop to purchase a bottle of wine for dinner that evening at my cousins house. The wine was fine however my credit card company later told me my credit card was compromised in their machine. For the rest of my trip I could no longer use my card and spent a great deal of time on the phone getting it sorted out . When I returned to Canada I was still having to deal with it. If you go to this place whatever you do don't not use your card!!! Only use cash if you make a purchase

Amazing service! I was here to purchase a local bottle of Irish Whiskey and the staff is great. Very attentive and because I don't drink (the bottle is for my daughter), they "schooled" me on the different brands and alcohol content. It is a definite visit if you are in the area!

I went to Ireland back in 2015. I was looking to get my dad a really nice gift for father's day. I knew my dad was into whiskey but I'm more of a gin person so I had no freaking clue where to start. It was so intimidating to enter some places just because I didn't really feel like I belonged. I was shopping around and I walked by this shop. It looked friendly enough so I decided to brave it and walked in. I looked around hesitantly when one of the employees asked me if I needed help. I admitted to him that I was looking for something nice for my dad and I had no idea what I was doing. He began to ask me what kind of drinks my dad liked and he suggested the Celtic Cask Aon Deag 11. To me, it looked super fancy and limited and within my price range so I bought it. I went back home to Seattle and gifted it to my dad. My dad was in love with the first sip. I believe he made the bottle last half a year. Once he was done, he saved the cask and the bottle. Once his birthday rolled around, I asked him what he wanted and he was wondering if he could get another bottle of the Celtic Cask. Unfortunately, at that time, I don't believe the shop was shipping overseas to the US. My dad still has the bottle in his liquor cabinet to display to this day. My coworker mentioned a trip to Ireland and that reminded me of this shop. I went online and I was delighted that they were shipping to the states now. Unfortunately, as I had suspected, the Aon Deag 11 has been discontinued but I bought two different Celtic Casks. I'm excited to surprise my dad with them :)

To say this is the spiritual home of Q is not some sort of bad pun (though in truth it is), nor is it an exaggeration, this is simply one of the best shops in the city if you are a fan of Irish, scotch or American whiskies. Oh they do other stuff like port and armanaque but it is not what they do really well. Being that this is Ireland and the cost of alcohol is twice that of any other city in the world you would have thought that nothing in this shop is affordable - and indeed they do offer a couple of bottles for the 1,000 Euro mark but for the most part the prices are not stupid - sure this is present or 'treat yourself' territory but then when is a good bottle not!? They do regular tastings so it is always worth stopping by just to sample what ever bottle is open on the day - last time I was there it was a Scotch from the Isle of Sky - so peaty it was practically alcoholic bog-water.... Lovely!

We chose to purchase some whiskey souvenirs during our trip to Dublin at the Celtic Whiskey Shop because a promotion they were running in conjunction with our Dublin Pass that gave us some free whiskey glasses with a purchase of 50 euro or greater. I had been searching for a few bottles of much heralded Green Spot to take home and it was prominently displayed in this great little whiskey shop. They have a deep selection of wines and whiskeys here. Very obscure and expensive bottles of whiskey line the shelves here. The help was very kind and informative and offered us many options to get our purchases back home safely. I was so impressed that I will probably use this specialty whiskey shop to procure whiskeys from the British Isles that are difficult to obtain back home. I left very pleased.

This place is the hella best booze shop in Ireland! Whiskey heaven, and you're in for a lesson about whiskey if you ask questions here. There are so many bloomin' choices. Thankfully the staff can steer you towards what you might like. For our part we bought several small bottles to sample and this helped us make the small investment we made. But sitting here with just a dram...such memories. Dublin if not the world is lucky to have this shop! Enjoy!

I love this shop! The only place where I can find the most random things I might look for for my cocktail endeavours. There are often free tastings of whiskey and the staff are incredibly knowledgable about everything in the shop. Things can be a bit pricey, but that seems to be what many of the patrons of this shop are searching for, because I've seen many take some very expensive recommendations from the staff. My one complaint is that, because I like to peruse the stocks myself, and because I'm 21 years old and not the usual patron, I tend to get funny looks from the staff until I pick something up to buy it. Meh, such is prejudice. They're still very helpful if I have any questions. Worthwhile if you're a tourist with a taste for whiskey-- you'll find something perfect to bring home here!

For a place that should be disgustingly touristy and astronomically expensive, the Celtic Whiskey Shop thankfully only ticks one box, and it's not the monetary one. Although technically specialising in whiskeys, they do a serious range of other spirits and wines. For surprisingly good prices too...their litre bottles of vodka and rum are cheaper than most other places and you can pick up a bottle of decent wine for under a tenner. And it's not even Booze 2 Go (which, much as I love it, certainly lacks a good customer relations ethos). The staff are lovely, more than willing to make suggestions, and even more willing to laugh with you when you're desperately trying to find the cheapest thing in the place. So I'm told. It's never too busy, which is surprising for its location, and is possibly my favourite off licence in the city. Not too bad considering I abhor whiskey...

I was severely disappointed in my experience with this shop. While their selection is superb, their salespersons pushed very hard to upsale my choices and dissuaded me from my first choices. The thing that very much dissapointed me though, was an underhanded tactic in the name of charity. They run a campaign in the name of Mary's meals, a foundation to feed needy children. Which is fine. What isn't fine is that they make a mandatory donation and append it to your retail sale within the store, and make no verbal mention of it, nor give you the option to out out. The sign stating they do this is really quite small, and even though it is by the register, it isn't forthright. I'm not sure that it is an entirely legal maneuver, but it happened. I would look elsewhere for a more honest vendor in the future.

Huge selection of whiskey and love that there are lots of small bottles so you can try everything. Also, lots of great gift ideas can be found here. When you enter the store you'll see a nice wine selection, and the room to the left is where you'll find the hall of mini whiskey bottles and all your whiskey needs :) Very helpful staff!

Selection ... top notch ( lots of scotches, whiskeys, rums, etc. ) Shop-keeper's knowledge ... vast ( knows history, production, inventory, etc. ) Prices ... crazy high just like it seems all alcohol is in this country. Free regular tastings of both well-known and obscure whiskeys make this place a definite swing-by. If you want something you can get anywhere, get it somewhere else cheaper ... if you're looking for something obscure and can't find it anywhere, come here and you'll probably find what you need.

The selection here is exceptional (even if the prices aren't) so you can be confident that they will have whatever you need. It may be better known as a whiskey store, but this is literally the only shop in Ireland that stocks my favorite rum. For that reason alone I find myself in here with disturbing regularity. Disturbing but delicious. Even though I come here for rum, the warm interior is built for whiskey. I feel the temptation every time I walk in, and someday soon I'll be duped into buying a delicious €60 bottle of Irish sunshine.

What's not to love about this place? Beverage city for grown-ups. If they don't have it here it will be tough to find in Dublin. Unfortunately alcohol is not a bargain here, but this is the place to lighten your wallet. Ask for a sample and very knowledgeable staff.

A fine liquor shop, Celtic Whiskey. And it's not just whiskey sold here. While there is an emphasis on whiskey and whisky, you can also buy wines, other spirits and a selection of craft beer + cider. There is a good team working the floor and they are always on hand to answer your questions or help you to a taster of what they have for sampling. I did think it was a bit pricey though. We priced a Patron Tequila here at 60 EUR. Another off licence not far from here priced it at around 50 EUR.... hmmm. We decided to leave it for the moment. That said, I am glad tourists have somewhere like The Celtic Whiskey shop to go to when they want to get good advise on what to buy when they are here in Ireland.

It has been far too long since I've started going here, and I'm ashamed at myself for not writing a review of the place. Bad Ryan, BAD! I love this place. I have yet to find another shop in Dublin that specializes in liquor. There are plenty of off licenses, and shops that will sell you the run of the mill Irish drinks, but nothing that has a passion about what they sell. Why the hell not?!? Do people really not enjoy a well crafted drink? Don't even get me started on the cocktail situation in Dublin, that's for another post. Anywho, reviewing the Whiskey Shop, right. Well, the name pretty much says it all. They have a wide variety of whiskeys and whiskys to suit your pleasure. From medicinal to sweet, cheep to "even if i could afford it i wouldn't feel right drinking it!" The people who run the shop are very knowledgeable and they even have a dedicated wine room for those that aren't into whiskey. Go, have a taste, I'm sure you'll find something that you fall in love with right away. (Mine is Redbreast, just sayin')

Attached to their bar and restaurant in Killarney, this is where you can do some serious shopping for rare and hard to finds, including some super rares from Powers and Teeling that go for €300 to €3300! They ship and handle customs. Can't beat them in Ireland !

Decent selection of spirits and wines. Convenient location right off of St. Stephen's Green. Welcoming, and informative staff. Free samples of tasty Irish Whiskey which sells for €43-€98. No pressure and the staff has detailed knowledge of the products. They also ship internationally - which is great for the whiskeys that are not available in the U.S. and you don't pay the VAT.

Free whiskey samples, knowledgeable staff with good customer service and an aroma to die for. This is easily the best place in all of Ireland to get your whiskey/whisky fix. I just nabbed a bottle of Greenore 6-year-old and newly bottled Connemara Turf Mór (58% ABV!) both of which I was told are ONLY available in the Celtic Whiskey Shop. If you like whiskey and you're in Ireland, don't miss it.

I love Whiskey and I tend to be very picky when it comes to picking a bottle of the good stuff. A current favourite is Tyrconnell, which is surprisingly hard to get by considering that it is an Irish Whiskey. The first place selling Tyrconnell I could find in the city centre was the Celtic Whiskey Shop, which is why I like it as much as I do. It is also one of the few shops, where I can talk to the staff about the 'nose' and 'finish' of Whiskey and they can recommend similar ones that I might like. Great selection, bit pricey in fairness but still one of my favourite Whiskey shops.

The Celtic Whiskey Shop was excellent. I was looking to bring some Irish whiskies home as souvenirs, but wasn't checking any bags. Luckily, the shop was able to ship my boozy beverages back to the States. Gavin was a great help in offering suggestions since I'm not as familiar with Irish whiskies. He also let us sample a few different things to pinpoint the whiskey flavor profile we typically like. I ended up purchasing a few good Irish whiskies and an Irish gin. If you're looking for special selections that you can only get in Ireland, I highly suggest you visit the shop while in Dublin. At the very least, they can tell you what you can and can't get outside of Ireland and even what's available to purchase in Duty Free at the airport. I'm so excited for my package to come in so I can have another taste of Ireland!

I must preface this by saying that I do not drink whiskey. But, a friend had requested that I bring back something that he couldn't get in the states. The staff at the Celtic Whiskey Shop were very helpful! Thanks to them, I got him a nice sampling of Irish whiskeys. The selection was large, so I think if you were knowledgeable about whiskeys you could certainly find what you were looking for. One side of the shop is whiskey and the other is wine. The prices seemed a bit on the high side, but again I'm not sure what one would typically expect to pay for these whiskeys, and the service was worth it.

I love this place. They have a pretty decent selection of Irish craft beer (which is nice considering they don't specialize in that) but their real selection is in whiskey. They allowed me sample a few different Irish whiskeys before I made my choice, which was extremely helpful for me. By the end, I found a bottle of rare whiskey to take home for Christmas last year. I still haven't opened it as it is only for a special occasion, but I'm extremely happy since I had never seen this anywhere else and never will again. The staff is friendly and helpful, the selection is great, and it's not too tourist oriented like some scotch stores in Edinburgh.

Excise taxes are ridiculous in Ireland , so the whiskey is absurdly expensive but the selection here is unusually good.So I picked up some of the little sampler bottles.I recommend Connemara cask strength single malt highly.Ialso got some saffron gin from France.

I found a gift voucher dating back to '08. I thought I had lost it. Got on to Celtic Whiskey and they told me there's no problem redeeming it. How good is that !!

Wonderful little wine shop with a knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff. We purchased a couple bottles of wine and after being offered several tastings from the whiskey side of the shop my husband was easily talked into a couple bottles of limited release Irish whiskey. If you are looking for good wine or for some great whiskey then check this place out.

I went here to purchase some whiskey souvenirs during my trip to Dublin. I found this place on Yelp of course. I went there looking for whiskey that you can only find in Ireland. I bought Green Spot, Paddy Wagon brand along with others that is hard to find. I also tasted a few. Friendly staff they know alot about whiskey. This place is great for wine, champagne and for whiskey that is very hard to find and expensive. If you are looking for a well known brand I will just wait until you get to airport and get it duty free for cheaper. Nice shop!!

This is Ireland's specialist Whiskey Shop which offers free Whiskey tasting, hence why I actually came in here! They have award winning ranges of Whiskeys, spirits and wine and & champagne. The shop itself was really impressive and well stocked and you can try some lovely brands of top notch stuff!

Awesome place if you're ever in Dublin and looking for whiskey or liquor in general. Staff is amazing and very helpful. I purchased a bottle of a whiskey liqueur while there based on one of the staffs recommendation. When I got home to the states and finally tried it I fell in love and wanted to purchase a few more bottles as Christmas gifts. I didn't see the item on the website but reached out to Ally. She was so helpful, took my order and figured out why the liqueur wasn't showing up on the website, basically got it all situated. I tried to see if I could purchase this liqueur through another website but couldn't locate it anywhere so I'm very grateful to Ally and the Celtic Whiskey Shop team for their level of professionalism and more importantly, recommending such an awesome liqueur!

Best place to shop so you can bring your favorite whisky home. Good service, knowledgeable staff, and awesome selection. We bought 3 bottles of Irish whisky that's hard to find back home where all the focus is on blends instead of single malts. Make sure to pick up a vat refund form.
