Beautiful open cenote with thick vegetation that makes it a great place to connect with nature. This cenote is the entrance to an expansive underwater cave system. Cave-diving is posible. Amenities and a small shop are available at the entrance of Dzonbakal and X'batun. At the X'batun cenote there are very dilapidated bathrooms (out of order) and some shelter to change.

Wonderful cenote. Probably one of the most beautiful ones I have seen (and that is a lot). Pretty accessible, no 4x4 necessary. You access via the pueblo of Cacao, and when you get to the entrance, you have to pay entry fee for the two cenotes, Xbatun and Dzonbacal . You can only access either cenote by paying there. They give you a card that you will give to the guard sitting at the gate about 900m further down the road. Fee: 75 mxn for nationals wirh valid ID & 150 mxn for foreigners. Considering that you get to see two beautiful and clean cenotes that are well taken care of, this is a pretty fair price. Xbatun was my favourite, it literally looks like it is out of a movie set. Accessible for everyone, I would say, as the stone stairs are in perfect condition and not steep at all.

Beautiful place and scenery. Not to crowded when you arrive early enough! Magic place that seems like out a movie

X'batuun is, in my opinion, the most visually appealing cenote from the surface. The diving is also amazing. It's got a great big cavern and a lot of cave to keep you busy, both deep and within recreational limits. The best time to visit is 8am when they open. Once the swimmers arrive, they destroy the visibility for the first 10m of the dive. Then it becomes crystal clear.

One of a two cenotes that you enter with the same price. It is medium-sized and open above with only a few stairs to navigate to get into it. It has more than adequate facilities; changing rooms and toilets. It is a ways off of the main road and the last 3 KM of road are dirt that is rocky and pitted. I have a bad back and I made the drive slowly so that I could experience this lovely jungle cenote.

Nice cenote. The water is incredible (like in every other cenote) we was here during the afternoon but it wasn't full. You pay the entrance fee in the small town and the road to the cenotes are very bumpy. Unfortunately no shadow at the parking lot. Because no dogs are allowed (and we are traveling with them) they had to stay in the car. Managed it but it would be more relaxing if there were shadow spots somewhere.

Lovely cenote, half open, we were the onely ones there when we visited which contributed greatly to our experience!

Compared to other cenotes we visited, this one was quite small. Water is not clear like in others. There were even some water lilies on one side of the water. Entry into the water was a little bit difficult as there was no platform or stairs. You pay in the village right before and then continue on a dirt track for about 3 km. Entry was around 150 pesos for 2 cenotes, X'batun and Dzonbacal. The place is popular with locals. When we arrived at 2 pm, they told us that X'batun is quite full and we should first do Dzonbacal. Upon arriving at the cenote, two locals take down your name before you go down to the water. They cross it out again when you leave. Facilities are quite basic, we ended up changing in the car. Small parking space.

Yelp
Cenote X'batun and DZONBAKALare within the same area. Google maps will make you come from highway 261 from the north side even though a road from the south shows up on the map. That is a private road so if you are coming from Uxmal or Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyché you have to drive up past them - per google maps. You will reach a 'ticket' area where you have to get your temp checked and buy tickets. Then you drive down the road off the pavement onto a dirt road to give your tickets to a guy. Then drive a couple of K until you reach Cenote X'batun. Some have complained that they were over crowded and all, we went in Jan of 2021 and they are really practicing social distancing - we were the only ones in the cenote! IMPORTANT NOTE if you can get to any cenote/Mayan site when they open or before noon - chances are you can have the place pretty much to yourself. Also you don't have to climb down a 100 foot hole in the ground on a sketcy ladder to get to this one. Pretty easy solid stair case to get here. Can recommend if you are in the Uxmal area
