CENSU TOKYO

A fun, modern Izakaya experience. Definitely catering to a western crowd with their dishes, so I would reccomend for a non traditional take on Japanese food. I did find a most of the dishes very sweet, but for people not living in Japan it might not be noticeable. The dishes do come out quite quickly, compared to traditional fine dining places, more attune to a traditional Izakaya experience, two or more at a time. Watching the chefs in the kitchen is definitely a highlight, and their energy was fun to partake in.

I would rate 10 out of 5 for their food, service and vibe if I could!!! We had their “TAKE” omakase which was great value for 12 dishes. Each dish was amazing in its own way. The wagyu beef and the dumplings in pumpkin sauce were the highlights for me, and my boyfriend’s favorite was the fried cheese sticks with mushroom sauce. I highly recommend the bar seats on the first floor if you enjoy watching the chefs cook. I’m impressed by their dedication to the food and the communication among the whole team. Their food is innovative and refreshing, if you’re looking for Japanese-style fusion cusine, I highly recommend checking Censu out! The staff were super friendly and attentive. They play hip-hop music (mostly from the 90s), the fun and chill vibe really made them stand out from the other traditional Japanese restaurant we tried. I’m so glad we decided to make a relocation here after walking by it during their closed time but were curious because of their cool exterior design. Overall, we had an amazing experience thanks to the whole team at Censu!

Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Atmosphere ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Having ingested so much fantastic food in Tokyo and having been enriched with so much wonderful hospitality, I would have to say, in my opinion, CENSU TOKYO has been my favorite restaurant. Loaded with Modern design and feel, the food really stands out as so well presented and prepared, especially if seated 1F at the bar. Please, make sure you make a booking and experience all that this beautiful little restaurant has to offer.

Found this unexpectedly. One of the best meals in Japan. Fun and interesting flavors. Stands out were any of the crudos, the onigiri with uni, tempura with truffle sauce. Every dish was hitting with interesting notes. Loud bumping music we were sat right at the counter watch the chefs work. Only regret is we wish we could’ve gone twice on our trip!

The food and the atmosphere are certainly good if not very good. It just felt very touristy and the prices are more Hong Kong than Tokyo appropriate. Also the cheeseburger roll needs to be a bit bigger, please. I would still recommend to anyone looking for a less Japanese meal out though.

After being deeply impressed during my visit last year, I returned this time to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We booked the three-course wine pairing, and once again, the experience was both historic and emotionally moving in terms of flavor and atmosphere. Censu always pursues a hip and stylish vibe, and I hope to see it again next year.

The environment is very nice. We’re so lucky to join a special dinner of the Christmas. The foods also nice, especially the Bao with the foie, strawberry.

A 5* izakaya experience fashionable Jingumae. We came on a Wednesday evening and the place was bustling . There are counter seats on the ground level where you can interact with the chef owner which makes for a more intimate experience. Larger groups will be more suited to the upper floor. The place is laid back and the service is friendly prompt and efficient. They also speak good English here . The menu provides a good selection on their a la carte menu but their dishes are not typical of izakaya . The ‘censu’ reinterpretation of the dish has been applied. We decided to have the taka omakase and this features a selection of their highly recommended dishes. You won’t be disappointed and this is part of the experience. A great place for a date or a night out with friends. You won’t be disappointed!
