The hotel is in a great location in Namba, close to Dotombori and Shinsekai, and within easy reach of metro lines. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. ||The hotel very kindly upgraded us to a room on the 30th floor for our honeymoon, with a great view, and left us a little card and some chocolates, which was a nice touch. ||Our room was spacious and comfortable. The shower was clean and had good pressure, and we enjoyed the toiletries. Housekeeping came in each day, but for some reason didn’t clear away empty bottles or the packaging that we left in the bin. ||We enjoyed the hotel bars, particularly Smoke and Spin, which has happy hour from 5 to 7 every night. We struggled to get a good seat at busier times though, as many were reserved. ||We ate in the steak restaurant one evening. The food was good quality and we had great service. ||Breakfast was fine but would benefit from more western options, or at least some variety. We understand catering for a primarily Asian clientele, but we can’t eat stir fry and curry for breakfast. ||The ‘European’ section was generally pastrami, salami, camembert, and some salad, and this didn’t change over the five days that we stayed. Some more choice here would have been better. ||Some of the equipment needs to be modernised too. The coffee machines felt old and tired. We were told about a new one, but from day two there was no latte option. When I pointed this out to someone I was directed to another machine. ||We became quite bored with the breakfast after a couple of days. ||We had a couple of issues with service. I ordered a coffee from the 2nd floor cafe and wanted to sit and enjoy a small treat that I had bought. I was rudely told by the staff member that I wasn’t allowed to eat it. As a paying guest who paid for a coffee, I see no reason why I shouldn’t be able to enjoy a pastry alongside it. This was not five-star service. ||We also tried to move to a window seat in the bar one evening, and a staff member rushed over and loudly told us not to sit there as it was reserved. She did this in an almost panicked way that drew attention to us, which we didn’t like. ||Overall we’d probably stay here again, but from experience I consider this a four-star hotel and not a five.
