Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights with our twins. Overall, it was a decent stay, but the building definitely shows its age. The staff were wonderful — very friendly and accommodating, especially when they provided cots for our twins without any fuss. The room was spacious, which was a big plus for us as a family. Unfortunately, the hotel itself and the room had a musty, damp smell, possibly from old water damage or mould. The air conditioning helped air things out, but the scent was noticeable when we first arrived. The decor and building are quite dated and could really use a refresh. The view from our window was lovely, though the window had a tint or film on it that made everything look a bit blurry. The buffet breakfast was good, especially the kids’ area and options for younger guests, which we appreciated. However, the menu was the same every day, so a bit more variety would have made the experience better during a longer stay. The location is convenient — about 10–15 minutes from most tourist spots, which made getting around fairly easy. Overall, it’s a good hotel with great staff and a nice family-friendly atmosphere, but it’s definitely in need of some renovation and a fresher feel.

I chose the hotel thinking it was another large place further up the river, with access for watercraft. Not sad with my mistake and made the most of the huge rooms and gym. Still had water access to the river, however not as easy as SUP CNX does and there is no where to store watercraft (not that the usual person would care about that, I’m very well aware haha). Options around the hotel are quite limited and I was happy with having a motorbike for most of my stay to get around the city.

Centara platinum member and have stayed in several other centara hotels. Not much of benefits for platinum member. Upgraded to similar room but with river view. Did not mention platinum membership benefits at check in until I asked. No executive lounge so no compliments breakfast or drinks. Other hotels would provide breakfast if there is no executive lounge. There is little advantage of being a Centara Platinum member here. Rooms are worn out and dated. Not much around the hotel so need to Grab. No massage in the hotel so need to walk 10 minutes to Health|Land. Staying here for another 2 days. Probably will look for other hotels when returning to Chiang Mai.

I liked that even though it's an old hotel its interior is well maintained and generally clean ( I wish they vacuum the carpet in the room tho, seems dirty and dusty). I appreciate that the sheets, pillow, mattress, and towels seems brand new. The staffs are all very courteous and responsive. They offer wide variety of breakfast foods however, for the 8 days that I stayed there, the food choices are the same everyday. Overall, it was a great stay.

Great hotel in a fabulous location. The old city is a very short drive away (100 baht). The hotel itself is lovely, great food, the breakfast buffet is fabulous, the staff are wonderful and very accommodating. The pool is great, however very quiet, the pool area could do with a slight revamp. Maybe some overhanging vines over the outdoor seated area and some trees. Other than that the kids thoroughly enjoyed. The rooms were a little outdated, our toilet leaked and the cooling didn't seem to work well. Was very warm in our room. However was very clean and charming decor. Overall good hotel in a convenient location, just slightly let down by some outdated decor at the pool (with 2 young girls we spent a lot of time here) and a warm room that could not be adjusted. Despit this we would recommend and would visit again.

Had a lovely Thai & Western dinner buffet (550THB per person)at Centara Riverside Hotel Chiang Mai. Great variety of dishes, tasty Thai curries and grilled pork, plus delicious desserts. Beautiful riverside view and friendly service — worth the price! 🌟🍽️

Large hotel, with more than 500 rooms.|On the other side of the river, downtown quite far away.|Quite old, in need of renovation. |Room sufficiently large, traditional furniture.|We had some issues with the room lighting, which didn‘t work properly.|Large bathroom but with old fixtures.|Shower cabin with old shower faucet, cabin door didn‘t close properly so the floor got very wet.|Extensive breakfast buffet.|Friendly and helpful staff.

Been traveling all over Thailand and this hotel is a gem. The staff was accommodating and friendly and the rooms were big and comfortable with views of the river and mountains.
