The Perfect 3-4 Day Nashville Itinerary for 2025

"This 132-acre park is a relaxing oasis in the heart of the city with tree-covered walking paths, a tranquil pond, plenty of lawn space perfect for picnics, and frequent events like Shakespeare in the Park and music festivals; it was created for the Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition in 1897." - Matthew Kepnes

I needed an airy space to walk and think. My gum is also great for this, it's just sometimes I need some fresh air to get me going, ease my mind, clear my head and experience nature! This place was that and more. And as an added bonus, there is a lake with ducks, etc. Perfect, serene and peaceful. I would visit again and again if I could. I have moved away from the area.

This is a nice park very beautiful. The only thing is that there was a lot of trash in the water that took away from its cleanliness. Other than that, it would’ve been 5 stars for me.

We visited this park on the 2023 Christmas evening following a Facebook post. Our intention is to see and enjoy the lighting in and around the park premises. But it was not that worth visiting the place only for seeing the lighting in the park. This is my personal feeling only. Also there are inscriptions on stone about the history of the city Irving, by which we can get to know things about the initial stages of the city.

It does have a lot of duck poop and debris, but it used to be a good trail to walk. Now it can’t be walked anymore to its design because they fenced and put a building up so people can’t cross and finish the trail. Once you reach so far, you have to turn back around. This is just stupid and an inconvenience to those who want to walk and ride bikes. I’ve tried finding an alternate route to walk in an uninterrupted circle, but there is not one. There no longer is a walkable trail without disruption.

Google
The city of Irving has done an exceptional job on decorating Centennial Park for its residents. Please come and walk around the park and enjoy an evening or morning as there are many Christmas decorations that children and adults will enjoy

I love this park so much. I've lived in Irving most of my life and never regularly visited any of the parks, but I'm over at this park all the time. It's so clean! The maintenance crew is very active and does a great job. Also there's a short loop or a longer path that goes who knows how far (Google Maps probably knows) so it's nice to have options on your walk length. Also there are so many cool birds!

This park is so beautiful! Heads up, there are a lot of birds and ducks in the area! I saw different people feeding the animals and these animals are not shy of humans! You will enjoy the beautiful scenery and animals. Definitely worth visiting!

Google
This place is perfect for picnic and stroll with family and friends. During our visit, there are lots of geese and ducks. Also, the place has informative area that tells about Irving and how it was founded.

Yelp
This park is the highlight of the area and located across from the library. It's scenic and quiet. I enjoyed the Christmas lights, but would have enjoyed them more if they were more theatrical like other towns (more lights, vendors, etc.). There was a reasonable amount of parking.

Yelp
This park is amazing! The city does a great job keeping it clean and safe. We thank God for it!

Yelp
On a recent walk with my girlfriend we were blown away by the sheer beauty of the gorgeous landscaping and there's so much to explore. We thought it would be also great for picnics dates. The authorities do an amazing job keeping it well-maintained. Whether you're in Irving for a day or a week, Centennial is a must-see gem.

Yelp
With a hike and bike trail, history of the city of Irving, historic home, large covered pavilion, statues, multiple bridges, great sunset views, several species of birds, ducks, geese, and turtles and a location within easy proximity to South Irving Library, Millenium Park, and Senter Rec Center, this park is worth a visit. No restroom facilities here but there is a port-a-john near the Senter Rec Center & restrooms inside the South Irving Library. I was surprised by the crowds at the end of May 2020 - some people were fishing, walking, doing photo shoots, biking/scooting, watching wildlife, chilling in the grass with a romantic partner, taking graduation photos. People were eager to be outdoors and active! To top it all off, I saw a gorgeous sunset at this park AND spotted my first green heron!! My only disappointment is the amount of trash along (and in) the water bodies at this park.

Yelp
Centennial Park is great for several reasons. The scene is perfect, especially in the nice warm weather. I was taking a stroll around the lake area with my hubs and noticed the ducks in the water, people having a little family lunch where the tables where on the other side of the lake. The sun was glistening on the water which made the the tranquil vibe more relaxing. The vibe was even perfect for the couple I seen having the photographer take their wedding photos. I'll definitely visit again when in the area. If you like jogging, or walking with your friends, or a peaceful setting this is nice.

Yelp
Centennial Park in located on the South side of Irving, Texas. It was built to commemorate the story of Irving's first settlers. There's a replica of the first log cabin that was built here in the 19th century. While the water in the park isn't all that clean, there are a number of hiking trails and some picnic tables.

Yelp
Beautiful Christmas lights with lots of ducks swimming. Not a lot of people know about this park, so if you like lights and want to avoid crowds, this will be a good place to go to. Lights are turned off around 10 but the park doesn't close until 12.

Yelp
Ducks there are pretty rad. I was running in the park and one of them went up to me so I had to run the other way. 10/10 would run again.

Yelp
We had enjoyed visiting this park since moving to Irving almost six years ago. There's a nice walking path that winds around the pond, which is usually filled with ducks and geese. I love that the park is conveniently located right across the street from the library. Unfortunately, the last couple of times we've visited, there was a TON of garbage floating in the pond. The water was stagnant and incredibly dirty looking. I'm not sure who is supposed to be maintaining this park, but it definitely needs some upkeep. There was also a large group of horseback riders on the walk this particular day and the horses left large piles of manure along the way. It was pretty disgusting to have to make our way around them. Are horses even permitted to gallop through public parks?

Yelp
Beautiful views. A bridge. Nice long trail. Lots of trees and ducks. Lots of things about Irving's history. A great place to take pictures.

Yelp
Great place to take pictures, go for a run and even hit the library. As my sister and I were browsing for places around Irving to go to, we stumbled upon this park while searching on Google. Sadly no reviews at the time to match up with the park, but ladies and gents I present you the 2nd review to come up about place! (BTW: This isn't a park with swings and a playground) This is definitely a hidden gem in Irving! It's a really nice clean park (besides all the algae that grows in the lake and the trash that occasionally floats in the lake...) I even shot a spontaneous photoshoot at the park and it was awesome. The park also has seats lined up around the lake and even a small area with picnic tables for the few that like to stop by and munch on a bit of food. Awesome part is that if you're sweaty hot and aren't doing so hot in the Texas weather the library is actually only a 5 minute walking distance from the park and it's nice and clean and really cold in there. Overall, the park was really nice and we really enjoyed the scenery and the nice library nearby. It's definitely a park that I was surprised wasn't reviewed on Yelp.

Yelp
Great getaway spot from all the bustling surrounding cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. Not to mention a great place for all photographers; I would recommend coming during sunrise or sunset when the sun would be in your favor. Relatively large and clean park with lots of different backdrops to play around with. One of the best parts of the park is the fact that it's located right next to a public library, so you can always count on there being a relatively clean restroom for you while you're visiting the park. Don't be fooled by the surrounding areas not being all so lavish looking because when people talk about city hidden gems, Centennial Park is definitely a hidden gem of Irving.

Yelp
Great park for a walk. There is a library that has a view overlooking the park that one can sit and read. At times the trash can build up along the water line, which is a shame.

Yelp
I like this place it's very fun during the day! There's water canons and ducks everywhere. We'll see how it goes for a few months
