Very small and only 3 rooms to see a minimal amount of mediocre Art. $8 per person senior rate not worth it. The museum was basically empty and now I know why

Excellent exhibition, great place and good bathrooms.

Went to a fun family activity gear for kids to make reticulated animals based off animal themed art in one of the galleries. Had a great time making a wolf with my grandson and son.

This is a fascinating facility. Their exhibits are fantastic. They push the envelope and are a great addition to the Rockland ,Maine art experience.

I liked it, it's pretty small, only enough room for 1-3 artist's exhibits, but they were cool nonetheless. I liked the little space they had for folks to make their own art

Best open studio ever, the show room is so big and contain a lot of incredible art, the management are super nice, the people here also super nice, and most favorite part they have art lab where everyone can do art for free and it’s so fun

This is a small museum but well curated. They cover a couple artists pretty deeply and a couple more less so. We'll be back. Photos are of John Bisbee's work.

Cute, thoughtful-curated collection, worth a quick visit if you’re in the area.

Yelp
This was one of the few things to do in Rockland on a quiet Monday. Be warned, if you arrive off season most stores, shops, and even restaurants will likely be closed but the museum is worth a visit regardless. I can appreciate the efforts of this museum and their commitment to sharing art. We received passes from our hotel nearby and walked over. The building itself is beautiful and the interior is bright and open. They had about four exhibits the day we arrived, each one perfectly described and appointed. I would visit again if I ever had the opportunity. I have a feeling there is a lot in store for this museum!

Yelp
A stunning setting for terrific exhibitions by artists with Maine roots or connections. It's like a taste of NYC's Whitney or the Boston ICA in Rockland. The modern, light-filled galleries designed by NYC-based architect Toshiko Mori (who has a place on North Haven), offer a bright counterpoint to the dark brick-and-wood interiors of older buildings nearby.

Yelp
I live in midcoast Maine, so I'll just say right now that CMCA's move to Rockland has been a complete game changer for this area. All I can say is "WOW" for the world-class art exhibited in the international architect-designed building by Toshiko Mori and presentation of art rivals any NY museum. The artists' works I've seen so far are interesting and varied. A visit to CMCA is well worth the small price of admission.

Yelp
The absolute worst museum I've ever been in...questionable definition of art. Very limited work. Literally 3 minutes in and out. I can't believe they charge an admission fee. Somebody spent a lot of money on a nice looking building with not too much resembling art in it.

Yelp
First visit this week. Was wildly entertaining. Small but beautiful esthetics. Nice addition to Rockland day trip.

Yelp
The Center for Maine Contemporary Art is such a cool addition to the Rockland art scene. The architecture of the building itself is striking, and the permanent courtyard sculpture livens up what could have seemed to be a rather sterile space. Inside, there are several galleries of different sizes, featuring work by different artists in multiple mediums. It's a relatively small museum, but for only $6 admission, it's totally worth it.

Yelp
We had heard about this museum for years and were so excited to go. It was such a disappointment. It's stark with bright lighting and has only one room where they exhibit any paintings. The other rooms are under-utilized and waste precious space with video installations and 3 small paintings in the corner. Thankfully, the admission was only $5, but a big waste of time and of the modern building space. We expected a museum of this caliber to have more art and to at least display it in an appealing way to interest visitors. Fortunately, there were some lovely galleries (Harbour Square Gallery) in town to see some amazing Maine artists.
