City Center Plaza Hotel was absolutely fantastic and exceeded our expectations. We were pleasantly surprised with an early check-in, which made a huge difference after traveling. The location could not be better. There is a lively ice skating rink right outside the hotel, creating an amazing atmosphere, especially during the winter season. The hotel is surrounded by countless food and shopping options, all within easy walking distance. Getting around was incredibly easy with Bus Stop 1 just steps away, and there is also a taxi stand directly in front of the hotel, making transportation effortless at any time of day. The combination of comfort, location, and accessibility makes this hotel a perfect choice for anyone visiting the city. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.

Stayed here for 1 night when I arrived at Iceland from Copenhagen. The rooms was clean, tidy and spacious (@ level 2) However, the toilet setup is not really great as the fittings seems to be badly abused by others who stayed in that particular room. My 2nd and 3rd night was after visiting the places of interest in the Eastern side of Iceland and pending my return leg to Copenhagen again. This time round, the room I got was still acceptable (@ Level 3). However, again the toilet condition is pretty bad. The sink visibly had cracked but luckily it was not leaking. This followed by the broken shower head at the location where the hose is connected. The hotel staff replaced it with a new one but the holder is not able to hold it in place. So I have to improvise it using a thick rubber band to hold it so that I can control where it is pointing. The breakfast is great similar to other icelandic hotels. Seems like they serve almost the same type of buffet where-ever you go. Other than the toilet, the rest of the hotel is fine. Centralized location and easy to move around.

Very clean . The free continental breakfast was small but always fresh and the staff cared enough to scrub the coffee pot so the coffee was good. So above average staff, especially the maids. The location was perfect to see all the stuff in downtown. You are surrounded by resteraunts, clubs, and shops. However, expect the rooms to be small and you'll need to play some music when you're in the bathroom. The bathroom doors are short and see through so no privacy. Excellent shower pressure. Hard beds but not awful. The worst thing is that instead of sheets and blankets, the bed had a bottom sheet and duvets. I felt short sheeted all the time and I'm a short person. Still, I'd stay here again without hesitation. I'd bring a topsheet and blanket for the bed though

Location was excellent and would definitely stay again because the bars, restaurants and shops was right outside the door. Car parking was convenient too just the P2 street parking which was easy. The rooms are a little dated, TV didn’t work, the bathrooms were on the rusty side and the flooring in the bedroom was also looking tired. They are also really thin so you can hear other people in their rooms walking around which was was a problem on one of the nights as somebody was banging above us throughout the whole night. Apart from that though the staff were lovely and the hotel itself was modern in the lobby. Would stay again because the location was perfect for us.

Great hotel everything was easy and simple. The room was clean and a good size and the bed was comfortable! Great location if you want to explore Reykjavík and go on excursions, all the important bus stops are only a few minutes walk and the harbour on the doorstep. Would recommend to anyone going for the first time!

Perfecr location and free breakfast. But the staff dont give a shit if you go missing. Room not soundproof. The location of this hotel is honestly prime. It is basically right in the middle of everything, which made getting around super easy. The price is very affordable too, which makes sense since it is a three star place. The continental breakfast was simple but honestly appreciated, especially since not all hotels provide it for free. It is great to eat something before starting your day, especially because everyone knows that Iceland is expensive. They had basics like eggs, sausage, beans, bacon, bread, yogurt, muffins, cereal and oats. I especially loved the chocolate muffin with the melted chocolate inside. The noise was one of the biggest issues. It constantly came from above, and all three of our rooms had the same problem. I even wondered if we were put in the “bad rooms” because they were right above the lobby floor. When you first enter the second floor it actually looks clean and nice, but as you walk further down the corridor toward our rooms, everything suddenly looks older and more worn out. Our doors had old dark chocolate frames that were chipped, and the newly screwed on card lock showed peeled paint marks from before. This looked nothing like the first few room doors near the lift, which were basically brand new oak chocolate. It really makes you wonder if they only bothered updating the parts most guests would see at first glance. Throughout the night we kept hearing banging and what sounded like furniture being dragged around from the room above. In the morning I even saw a cleaner slamming a mop on the floor so aggressively that it might explain some of the noises, but either way the sound proofing was extremely poor. The worst part of the stay, though, was the experience with the night receptionist. My fiancé went missing at around 2am, and I spent hours walking around town from 3am until 5.30am trying to find him. I asked the receptionist for help, but the older bald man working that night was very unfriendly and had a very “I don’t care” attitude. He saw me coming in and out of the hotel clearly distressed for hours, yet showed no empathy. When I asked what I should do and if he could call the police, he just said “you can if you want” in a flat, unhelpful tone. I also asked about security footage and he only said it would not be available until the next morning. In the end I went to the police myself because I did not feel safe relying on him. Overall the hotel has a great location, good prices and a decent free breakfast, but the noise from above, the worn out condition of the corridor and rooms, and the complete lack of support from the night staff made the stay very stressful. I would not return based on this experience.

Rooms facing the plaza have a much better view. We had room 766, which was high up, but not much to see in that direction. The only easy place to charge my devices was on the surface near the hot water boiler, by unplugging that appliance. Other receptacles were too high off the floor. There was also a USB charging port on the wall, but that was nonfunctional. Free breakfast buffet from 7 am to 10 am. Lots of good stuff, but starts closing at 9:50 and strictly closed at 10:00 A few days later, our tour returned to the hotel, and we got room 425. That had a FANTASTIC view of the lights on the Plaza, the city, and the Church. However, a similar issue with lack of convenient power outlets. There was a sort of counter where one could use a laptop, but it had to be off battery power, as there was no power outlet nearby to plug in the charger. There are powered work areas near the lobby that you can use, if privacy is not an issue. Basically, this is more of a tourist hotel, where one spends their days outside, and merely sleeps in the room. It's not a place to get serious work done. Our first room had a huge no-step shower, big enough to roll a wheelchair into if need be. The second room had a tiny shower, 24" clearance from the taps to the shower door.

Well, when I choose a 3* hotel the only thing I’m expecting is a quiet, comfortable and clean place to sleep. Nothing else! And this ended up to be one of the worse sleeping nights I had! The noise of the rooms facing the plaza is unbearable!! The plaza is the night meeting place for young people so we had screams, music and all type of noise until 4am. Then, at 7am the cleaning trucks joined the “show”! This would not be an issue if the hotel had decent noise cancelling windows which is not the case. In fact, rooms are a bit cold also… But maybe that’s why when we arrived with -7 degrees Celsius one window was open!!! Service at check in was not great either. The receptionist took ages to find our booking and ended up asking support from others which freaked our nerves!… This was a Booking.com reservation and we showed the confirmation number, but still… the guy seemed a bit unprepared. Apart from that, the rooms are clean and location is very central. But if you’re not looking for nights out I would surely recommend you picking a central hotel in a quieter area (there are plenty of them!)
