Google
Really not my type of thing art-wise and I found the layout confusing (even with a map); the layout seemed random to me and did not flow very well. I think I wouldn't have minded this as much if I enjoyed the art work, but it just was 90% not to my taste. My favourite part was the old ship which is down in the basement - definitely recommend going down to see this. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Lockers provided for personal items/bags, clean toilets.

As others have noted the museum can be a bit confusing to find your way around but - just roll with it. The Utrecht Boat is directly downstairs, there is a special exhibition building attached through the old chapel and the 'main' building is two floors of somewhat meandering corridors. But you can't get lost, unless you want to. Finding the cafe is a bit trickier... Turn right out of the foyer, weave your way through to the end, go out the door and you're there. When you come back, don't go back through the door, turn right, go up the stairs and enjoy the exhibits on the first floor. Easy...

The staff were polite and helpful. The layout of the museum was confusing, even with the help of a map. The art is very contemporary and abstract. There was a section about motherhood which didn't appeal to me at all. The boat on the basement floor is interesting but it's hidden away when it's probably the best thing about the museum.

Loved this Museum, old & new pieces together.......interactive displays - Such an uplifting experience, with lots to see. Lovely cafe w/ outdoor terrace too. When we were there they were setting up for outdoor cinema in the Museum garden.

Nice museum with lots of various paintings and artifacts (Rembrandt and Van gogh).

Google
Nice museum with small collection and various exhibitions. I unfortunately didn't have time to explore more than the main collection but the main collection alone was worth it and very well presented.

Yelp
Nice-sized museum - you can pretty much see the whole thing in less than 3 hours. * Great 700- or 1000-year old ship in the basement * The Dick Bruna studio on the top floor is really great. * Manageable collection of art * Modern Furnishings collection Parking nearby is quite expensive.

Yelp
This was a pleasant surprise! From the ship to the diverse objects, I really enjoyed discovering this museum. Unfortunately didn't have the time to see everything, but that' just another reason to visit Utrecht again.

Yelp
Excellent museum. We enjoyed this so much. This museum has everything- from medieval art to modern. I really enjoyed the way the curator mixed up the historic with the new. In the room about city dwellers, for example, you had challenging modern works shoulder to shoulder to older group portraits- it was a fascinating juxtapositioning. We went for one day, but will go back for a second because it was just too hard to see everything in one day- there is so much here! There was a special exhibition on the Dom when we were here, and we did not have time to see it, nor did we see the Miffy museum. It was literally closing time when we left- so we have to go back. Our favorite period, the Dutch Golden Age, is well represented here, but there were so many other things we found impressive. There is a large gift shop, a nice cafe and a lovely central garden (it was once a house of religious worship). If you are in Utrecht, this should definitely be one of your stops- unless you do not like museums. Entrance is free with the museum card. Note for the disabled- they have small chairs you can take with you to sit on, if you have a disability. I found that very helpful.

Yelp
The central museum of Utrecht is located in centre of Utrecht, but quite some walk from central station. The museum holds modern art and also temporary exhibitions. What I liked: - There are lockers downstairs - With the museum- jaarkaart, free entrance - Not very crowded - Very diverse collection Definitely nice for a rainy day in Utrecht. Tip: the floorplan can be confusing. Take a plan a long with you, and just you may get lost in and discovery a few of the treasures along the way
