Hotel is a 10 minute walk from the okayama station and is close to the park. Take a walk from the hotel to the karoku-en park and okayama castle. There are many free amenities and on the first floor there is a laundry machine. There are 2 options for breakfast, we took the western style. While the food is tasty the portions are quite small.

Short walk from station and to beautiful gardens and castle. Friendly staff with some English but so eager to please. Economy room small, but very clean. Two highlights of stay were visit to top floor old style rooms with interesting history (and tea!) with owner, and Kibi plain cycle route - an easy, flat 15k cycle on tracks through rice fields and temples/shrines. Free use of hotel's washer/dryer was a bonus. Great stay!

The hotel is well located, next to the canal and only a 10 minute walk to the station. The staff are very friendly but speak little English from our experience. The rooms are a decent size and the beds are comfortable. The free coffee is great for the morning. We used Okayama as a base to visit Naoshima, so did not spend much time at the hotel, but it was a pleasant experience.

I stayed two nights in Okayama and decided to go to that hotel. I didn't know anything so to be honest I took the first one I checked on website.|And actually it was a good idea! |The hotel is not so far from station, you can go by walk or if you are with a big suitcase, you can take the city train and get off after 3 stops.|The place was really nice. The room was clean, big enough for me alone ( took a single type)fresh and the ppl in front desk were very kind. I received free admission for Okayama castle and kôrakuen garden. |It was during Obon time so a lot of matsuri, and local dances were performed. I really enjoy my time there!!

Fantastic service and a great location. Hotel was clean and modern. Rooms were nice and comfortable. Hiro and his staff were very professional and helpful. The location is a close to the train station. The river in front of the hotel was a nice place to relax outdoors. We were in Japan for two weeks and this was the best hotel we stayed at throughout our visit! Would definitely stay here again!

We stopped off at Okayama only for a day/night before heading to Naoshima, and immediately felt the charms of this city as we walked to the hotel from JR station. Walking along a very pretty canal, we easily found the Central Hotel and received a wonderfully warm welcome from the staff and had a quick chat to Hiro behind the desk, who 10 minutes after we arrived dropped of instructions in English for us on how to get to Naoshima easily the next day. The room was terrific, with space and good light and very clean. We only wished we could have stayed longer. The hotel is close to a great eating area. Locals at the park across the road were playing early morning croquet or something similar. We went for a cocktail at a high up hotel and spotted a roof top food area on top of one of the local stores that looked like great fun. I'm sure Hiro would know if you ask...we would love to come back Okayama with more time and would return to the Central without doubt

Our stay at the Central Hotel Okayama was amazing! The staff spoke very good English and really made us feel at home! The owner of the hotel, Masako Sugiyama, was especially amazing! Not only did she give us directions to the nearest pharmacy but she went the extra mile and actually took us there. And when we ask where we could find a matcha tea set she surprised us with a gift when we returned at the end of the day. She went out and bought us a tea set! We were so touched by her generosity! We will stay at this hotel when we visit Japan again. I would highly recommend it for their hospitality and great location!!!

Pros: Walking distance to restaurants, shops & bars. Clean & comfortable with free toiletries. Staff were friendly and there was free coffee in the lobby.||||Cons: Free washing service was a bit of a pain to use – you had to take your wash to the front lobby who would walk you round the back of the building to unlock the room with the machines. Same for when you pick up the clean washing. Also, you have to hand in your key every time you leave the hotel which was a bit of a pain.
