Central Hotel Wolter

This hotel will meet all your needs. I'd pay or atleast ask for a room with a view, as this really boosted our stay, the views from my hotel room were beautiful. Breakfast is basic, but does the job. Some staff friendly, others quiet. Rooms clean, and were fine. beds were great for me and had good sleep. If your in a wheel chair, hard mobility or have heavy luggage, the lift access is through the restaurant, pass the bar. Not sure how this is used later in the night, when the restaurant is closed, as this is the only way to access the lift (elevators).

I stayed at Central Hotel Wolter on my second night of a six-day hiking tour of the Bernese Oberland portion of the Alps. Even though it was not what I would call a "luxury" hotel, it would end up being one of my favorites for the week. This was due to the friendly staff, the attractive room (with lovely view), and the excellent restaurant. It was also very close to the train station, which proved useful when I had to return for some luggage (The staff were nice enough to let me store an extra bag in their luggage room for no extra charge). Breakfast in the morning was good, if a bit too crowded. But my dinner at the ground floor restaurant was delicious. All in all, if I ever return to Grindelwald, I would stay here again.

We loved our stay at Wolter property. We are a family of 3 so we were staying at their studio apartment which was right behind the hotel. With kitchen, balcony and all necessary amenities it was a very pleasant stay. Coop, migros, grindelwald First station everything was nearby. Breakfast was amazing with beautiful view from the restaurants. Specially the croissants in the breakfast was my personal favourite. Staff was really good and Helpful. Highly recommend staying at Hotel Wolter.

We visited the hotel restaurant, and the food was delicious. We sat outside, enjoying the gorgeous views of the Swiss Alps! I ordered the vegetable soup with croutons, and it was incredibly flavorful and served piping hot. I absolutely loved it! My daughter wanted a burger, but she was disappointed to find out that they only serve burgers until 1:30 PM, and we arrived at 1:50 PM. My husband ordered the farmer's sausage, and he was pleased with his meal. Service and atmosphere were beautiful!

We stayed for three days. The front desk staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was plentiful. The hotel is very close to the train station. On the last day, we left at 6 a.m. and couldn’t have breakfast, but the hotel prepared a packed breakfast for us, which was also great. A perfect experience. The hotel is conveniently located close to train station as well as very near to coop grocery store. About rooms, they are sufficiently big and maintained really very clean. We stayed there for 2 nights and has zero complaints about this. Talking about breakfast it was super delicious with variety of options and of course you will get snowing Mountain View. Over all I was happy with my stay there and would definitely visit in future. Thanks.

We stayed at Central Hotel Wolter for 3 nights. We were a family of four and had connecting rooms. These family rooms are on the side of the building with amazing views. Waking to this epic scenery was definitely a highlight of our trip. The location is amazing, near both the bus and train stations and a few steps from Coop the supermarket. The breakfast buffet was delicious. Luca, the night manager was extremely friendly and helpful with local knowledge. If you are looking for a good priced, well located hotel, look no further

The hotel is conveniently located close to the train station, about a 5-10 min walk from the train platform to the hotel even with all your luggage. Rooms were clean and cozy The room was of decent size good for 2 people and offered a breathtaking view of the mountains (my absolute favorite thing to do during our stay). The beds were not as comfy because the mattress was a bit too soft causing me to sink in. The breakfast was good as well but the menu is a bit repetitive. But overall it was a good place to stay within a budget.

The spargel soup was amazing!! The salads were large with fresh ingredients and very filling! The bread was rustic and delicious, too! Thank you for a great dining experience!

From Vegetarian's PoV Food: (1) Vegetarian Burger: so delicious and tasty. No fake meat (sietan or tofurky) actually veggie burger with veggies. So flavorful and fresh tasting. (2) vegetable cream soup: base has too much of a cauliflower taste. It's an acquired taste but with enough hot sauce the flavor is palatable. (3) Thet have a huge dessert menu with a 12 gelato/ice cream flavors and some 12 other dessert combos with ice cream & fruit combo. This place feels like they actually care about the flavors and end product of their food. We've tried many places in the city center area of Grindelwald and this one stands out to us. We'll be here tomorrow. Service: authentically sincere and prompt. Ambience: great with indoor and outdoor seating facing the mountain.

Good food and decent prices for Switzerland. We really enjoyed the Apero Plate. The spring rolls, shrimp, and chicken nuggets were tasty and perfectly fried. I loved the sauce and pickled vegetables they were served with. Everything was a great combination.

The restaurant boasts excellent food and a delightful ambience. As a steak house, it takes pride in perfectly seasoned cuts. The tomahawk steak, especially recommended for parties of two, is a standout. Our meal included tableside carving, crispy French fries, steak-cut potatoes, and a generous salad. Our kids ordered the Fitness combo which included fresh fruit, large fresh salad, roasted potatoes and a choice of steak cuts. An excellent chose for a single person. Additionally, they offer fish dishes. The salads are fresh, and all dressings are made in-house. The attentive service ensures a pleasant dining experience. The price may be a little on the higher side, it's definitely worth it. While reservations are ideal, walk-ins are also welcome."

Expensive, took a long time, didn't taste good, and worst of all had a huge fly problem. My son Timothy was crying by the end.

This place is in the Swiss Alps, OMG!!!!!!!!! its in such a beautiful location. It's almost like a mountain top chalet. The place has a restaurant attached to it for all the tourists and for the guests. The staff was so nice and they have outdoor seating. The swiss arent really known for their beers but the chocolate in this country is amazing. I'd definately come back here.

There weren't a lot of options when we were in Grindelwald, I think it was a holiday and many restaurants were closed. This place seemed busy, so we glanced at the menu and stopped in. There were flies buzzing around our head all dinner. The food was not tasty. A pesto pasta that was bland and oily. Bread not fresh. I'd look other places. To be fair though, our server was quick, responsive, and friendly.

Great filet (steak, 7~8 oz. or 200g) , fresh vegetables, and fair drink prices. If you're in Grindelwald this is a great dinner option with a patio (with radiant heat). Pricing is $$$. NOTE: This restaurant is inside the Grindelwald Hotel Wolter.

We noticed this restaurant had more patrons than most so we thought we would try it and we are so glad we did! After starting in Amsterdam and travel through France and Germany including five days in Switzerland, this was the best meal we have had. I had the chicken and my wife the Asian salad and the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed the restaurant!

A great combination of location, price, food variety and quality. The service is a little inattentive but acceptable and the food tastes good. They have some exotic items as staples (first checked out five years ago) like kangaroo steak. The five stars are based on what the competition has to offer.
