This comfortable hotel has a great location in the village. The single room had a spectacular view of the Eiger and was ideal for a week of skiing. You have the option of taking the short bus ride to the lifts or take the train to the heart of the ski area at Kleine Scheidegg. ||The staff at the hotel were friendly & had a relaxed approach. The breakfast was excellent and dinner in the restaurant was of a high standard too.||Thanks again for your hospitality.

Definitely the best value hotel in Grindelwald. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The breakfast is great and the hotel is extremely well located very close to the train station and bus station. When we checked out we rebooked again for next year. We’ve been to Grindelwald 10 times for both winter and summer holidays and have stayed in various hotels and the Central Wolter is our favourite. It’s the best all round in our opinion.

We went to Central Hotel Wolter restaurant for dinner. We ordered salad, pasta, fish, and steak. We expected the salad first, then pasta, and then the main dishes — this is standard practice. However, the male waiters brought all four dishes at once, seemed confused themselves, left, and then returned. Most of the food was cold except the pasta, and the salad that came with the fish was just a duplicate of the salad we already ordered. When I asked to speak to a manager, an older lady eventually came, but the young manager who then approached us was rude and dismissive. She claimed that “tour groups want all their food at once” and that we hadn’t requested the order to be served in sequence — ignoring that we are not a tour group, just two individuals. It felt like she was trying to put the blame on us instead of acknowledging their service failure. Overall, the experience was frustrating, the service was poor, and the way our complaint was handled was unacceptable. We were only charged for the pasta and steak because of the mistakes. I would not recommend this restaurant.

We would highly recommend this hotel!!! When we arrived to Grindelwald by train, it was less than one minute walk to it. (about 30 seconds!) It is also opposite the area where there is many buses to the different ski areas and other little towns outside of Grindelwald. There is a ski hire shop just a couple of doors down from it. All the hotel staff we met were very nice, very friendly and helpful! The Hotel and bedrooms are very cosy and clean. They have a lovely restaurant downstairs. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning! We would highly recommend staying in this hotel! There is also a very nice supermarket near it, just about 2 minutes walk from it. We have highly enjoyed each time we have stayed there. It is very welcoming and homely! We just feel so at home there! ❤️

Great location 100m from the train station and across the street from the bus stop. Free breakfast was provided and quite varied and good. The room was small but comfortable with great water pressure and a nice hot shower.

We stayed from 4 to 9 Sept 2025 and were pleasantly surprised with our stay. Rooms were cleaned and fresh towels every day. Staff were so nice and helpful from checking to restaurant to room service . I needed a small screwdriver to fix my suitcase and it was no problem. Location across from bus and train stations makes travel easy. Close to shops and good for an afternoon drink and people watching. Food at breakfast and restaurant is excellent. Very happy to recommend Bert and Annie

We had a wonderful stay at Central Hotel Wolter. Our room was spacious, the bed was super comfy, the views absolutely breathtaking and breakfast was yum, but the restaurant food was truly astounding. A special mention to Lukas at reception who went above and beyond to make our stay a breeze. He was so kind, welcoming and incredibly helpful. His warm hospitality really stood out and made our time in Grindelwald even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area.

From Vegetarian's PoV Food: (1) Vegetarian Burger: so delicious and tasty. No fake meat (sietan or tofurky) actually veggie burger with veggies. So flavorful and fresh tasting. (2) vegetable cream soup: base has too much of a cauliflower taste. It's an acquired taste but with enough hot sauce the flavor is palatable. (3) Thet have a huge dessert menu with a 12 gelato/ice cream flavors and some 12 other dessert combos with ice cream & fruit combo. This place feels like they actually care about the flavors and end product of their food. We've tried many places in the city center area of Grindelwald and this one stands out to us. We'll be here tomorrow. Service: authentically sincere and prompt. Ambience: great with indoor and outdoor seating facing the mountain.

The spargel soup was amazing!! The salads were large with fresh ingredients and very filling! The bread was rustic and delicious, too! Thank you for a great dining experience!

Good food and decent prices for Switzerland. We really enjoyed the Apero Plate. The spring rolls, shrimp, and chicken nuggets were tasty and perfectly fried. I loved the sauce and pickled vegetables they were served with. Everything was a great combination.

The restaurant boasts excellent food and a delightful ambience. As a steak house, it takes pride in perfectly seasoned cuts. The tomahawk steak, especially recommended for parties of two, is a standout. Our meal included tableside carving, crispy French fries, steak-cut potatoes, and a generous salad. Our kids ordered the Fitness combo which included fresh fruit, large fresh salad, roasted potatoes and a choice of steak cuts. An excellent chose for a single person. Additionally, they offer fish dishes. The salads are fresh, and all dressings are made in-house. The attentive service ensures a pleasant dining experience. The price may be a little on the higher side, it's definitely worth it. While reservations are ideal, walk-ins are also welcome."

Expensive, took a long time, didn't taste good, and worst of all had a huge fly problem. My son Timothy was crying by the end.

This place is in the Swiss Alps, OMG!!!!!!!!! its in such a beautiful location. It's almost like a mountain top chalet. The place has a restaurant attached to it for all the tourists and for the guests. The staff was so nice and they have outdoor seating. The swiss arent really known for their beers but the chocolate in this country is amazing. I'd definately come back here.

Great filet (steak, 7~8 oz. or 200g) , fresh vegetables, and fair drink prices. If you're in Grindelwald this is a great dinner option with a patio (with radiant heat). Pricing is $$$. NOTE: This restaurant is inside the Grindelwald Hotel Wolter.

There weren't a lot of options when we were in Grindelwald, I think it was a holiday and many restaurants were closed. This place seemed busy, so we glanced at the menu and stopped in. There were flies buzzing around our head all dinner. The food was not tasty. A pesto pasta that was bland and oily. Bread not fresh. I'd look other places. To be fair though, our server was quick, responsive, and friendly.

We noticed this restaurant had more patrons than most so we thought we would try it and we are so glad we did! After starting in Amsterdam and travel through France and Germany including five days in Switzerland, this was the best meal we have had. I had the chicken and my wife the Asian salad and the dishes were beautifully presented and tasted even better than they looked. I cant say enough about how much we enjoyed the restaurant!

A great combination of location, price, food variety and quality. The service is a little inattentive but acceptable and the food tastes good. They have some exotic items as staples (first checked out five years ago) like kangaroo steak. The five stars are based on what the competition has to offer.
