Awesome!! A bit disappoined with camping faciities that had no bucket showers as advertized (obviously been taken by someone) and some loos were broken. Also very poor sign posting. Used GPS all the time. Do not try to go alone!! It is extremely remote and difficult terrain

For game viewing 1 one star in winter rather go to Pilanesberg or Kruger. For ambience solitude this is the place it gets 5 stars but then perhaps the Karoo does the same without a 2 day journey to get there. Hear lion faintly every night but no sightings of lion or leopard in 9 days in Central and Moremi.

What an experience. Beware if you are attempting to go there from Ghanzi, when you see the New Xade sign take it. And as you get to the water treatment facility you'll need to let a lot of air out of your tyres.

For extreme camping this is the best place to go! Good sightings of Gemsbuck, Springbuck, Lion, to name a few. Also bird sightings. All camps have longdrops and structures for showering, but NO water supply. Not for first time campers.

The Central Kalahari is one of the last unspoilt wilderness areas in South Africa. Endless deep sand roads, mopani, mopani, mopani awesome Salt pans, sky of stars beyond words all nights. We have crossed the Kalahari South to North. Khutse Game Reserve and the Camps are very lovely. In our stay we was alone in the area and had some awesome Thunderstorms for fear. Middle of the park is stressful for driving, mopani and trees punch the vehicle all the time on the deep sand roads. Sightings of Animals are very spare in this area. Piper Pan and Letiahau Valley is Lion Land and very impressive for sightings. If you plan to cross the Kalahari, the most important things are: more as enough fuel and water as you need!!!There is no Gas Station anywhere!!! Your vehicle fuel consumption will go up to 20-25l or more when you go 4x4 on deep sand roads. The Park Fee as german is not cheap, but its worth, it was a amazing experience.

This was our third visit to CKGR. The isolation is the attraction rather than game viewing. It's a long drive in and out! Lots of flies which were a pain and lots of bees which are attracted to water - if you put a bowl of water out it attracts them and keeps them off you. The bees are fine as they are gentle and don't sting.

What a fantastic place. If you love wild camping and animals, this is your place. Take plenty of water and be sure you have enough fuel. Suggest a solar shower (black bag on the roof) to clean off the dust as the buckets are not all in order. The pit latrines are more than adequate. Have key waypoints stored in your GPS. The reward is remoteness, serenity and animals/birds totally in their own environment. What an experience. This is a bucket-list tick that should be ticked more than once.
