The Calgary Central Library is like no other place on earth. While every library serves a purpose, the structure and size of this one are unparalleled. Each floor caters to different needs, whether you have small children, teens, students, or are looking for book club gatherings—there's something for everyone.
The library is a welcoming open space for readers of all ages. It features accessible elevators and nice, cool air conditioning for hot summer days. The teen section has two big-screen TVs for kids to play video games, as well as tables for school projects or just hanging out. The children's section on the second floor has a small playground with ropes where kids can lay down to read a story. There are several brain games for kids, including letters, dinosaurs, and blocks, allowing them to let their imaginations run wild.
Recently, they added a cute little fruit stand that offers free pears, oranges, and bananas—a nice thought for those who might have forgotten a snack. You can spend hours in this place without getting bored. The beautiful paintings at the front door add to the charm. If you're in Calgary, visiting this unique library is a must.
The downside is that there are a lot of homeless people mingling around the stairs outside the library. Some don’t bother anyone, but others might be throwing trash or playing loud music.
