The Best Walking Tours of New York City (Updated 2025)

"I went on a Central Park Conservancy tour to learn more about the park’s landmarks—the popular Iconic Views tour covers the Mall, Sheep’s Meadow, and Bethesda Terrace—and discovered they also offer nature hikes, birding, family-friendly, and indigenous-history tours as well as seasonal options (cherry blossom and Halloween). Most tours run about 90 minutes though some hikes last several hours, tickets can be purchased online, and prices start from about $33." - Matthew Kepnes

Took the "Heart of the Park" guided tour and loved it! The tour guide was so knowledgable and it was nice to be in a small group. It was so interesting to hear about the history behind what I had seen many times but did not know the full meaning of. Definitely recommend touring the park with the experts who care for it!

They have done a great job repaving the roads in the park but have failed miserably by not re-lining them with arrows indicating foot traffic and wheeled traffic thereby creating a very unsafe environment for all users of the park. Fix it.

Shame on you for putting more bike lanes in the park!!! Just terrible. And all this construction in the spring. Ebike lanes will not improve safety for pedestrians. This has been proven all around the city. This will go down in history as the 1st step to ruin Central Park.

We took the Birding Basics Tour in early October 2024 and it was excellent. Our guide, Ryan, was exceptional. Ryan was friendly, welcoming and supremely knowledgeable about the whole park and all of the wildlife within it but also about the brilliant Wild Bird Fund on Columbus Ave who also do amazing work. We learned so much and saw some amazing birds and wildlife and would thoroughly recommend this tour.

Great tour. We learned so many things. Can't wait to come back visiting New York (this time during spring) just to go on another tour of Central Park. It was our best guided tour in New York.

Horrible pickleball courts. The players are fantastic people. It’s so sad the most progressive city on the planet is so far behind supporting the fastest growing sport in America. #EpicFail for Central Park. I travel around the US and play pickleball tournaments everywhere. Really expected more from my Central Park visit, but what I observed was shockingly bad. PB Tournaments could bring in thousands of tourist per year!
