As a foreigner, the contact number provided on the website is working and managed to help us about my queries. When we arrived at the site, we only needed to pay for the entrance fee and that was it! We enjoyed the day at the Museum feeding our eyes with from the written records and facts to architectural and archeological displayed items. Really worth visiting!

Interesting place to visit in Almaty, and learn about Kazakhstan’s history and culture. I didn’t know that they found historic dinosaur’s fossils and skeletal in Kazakhstan. The place is also spacious and the hall is very huge. It has 7 exhibition rooms and very easy to navigate. With 500 tenge for ticket, it was a worthy place to visit

This museum is a very nice place to visit. Where some of the reviews talk negative about it, that’s not our opinion. It is set up still in an older (soviet?) style but therefor attractive! Especially the room with all the tribes and their clothing. When you just buy the most complete ticket, which is not expensive at all, you can visit all the rooms.

The museum was very large with a unique interior. There were a large variety of artifacts from different periods of time. For example on the first floor there is a section that introduces the history, customs, and culture of Kazakhstan. On the second floor there is a section that shows weapons from WWII. And countless more sections covering different topics. I really like this museum and if you ever come to Almaty please come visit.👍

Having nothing left to do in Almaty we went to this Museum. It's located in vicinity of the Independence square with very interesting and beautiful traditional exterior architecture in white and blue colors. Entry fee is unbelievably low at 500 Tenge which is 1 US$ !!! The Museum exhibit starts at the ground floor level to the right with prehistoric era to middle ages. Early life with primitive tools, weapons, flora and fauna is presented over centuries, as well a life size yurt replica. All exhibits have English labels which I found very useful. On the second floor is the modern era. An entire room is dedicated to nationalities with their traditional costumes who inhabit Kazakhstan, which prides itself with its numerous (over 100) nations living in it. This floor emphasizes Imperial Russia occupation, life under Soviet Union and gaining independence in 1991. The exhibit concludes with independent Kazakhstan, it's development under Nur Sultan, Space program,...etc. We spent around hour and a half and really enjoyed it

Up close & personal with Kazakh country. Great museum. Nice layout and comfortable. It has a luggage storage downstairs for free and a cafe next to it. For international visitors, the museum accept payment using VISA card. Very convenient.

Fairly priced entry (you can either purchase a base ticket, add any additional rooms or all access). Overall wasn’t a bad experience for us.

The staff here are uneducated and very old. They yell at both their own children and foreign children! Every staff member is unhappy. Very aggressive. Only the entrance staff can speak English and are polite. The exhibits are nice and worth seeing. But we will never come again.
