How to take a sauna in Stockholm if it’s your first time - SilverKris

"Situated right in the heart of Stockholm, I found Centralbadet unbeatable for location; it combines gym facilities, spa treatments, a restaurant, a swimming pool, steam baths and saunas, and my favourite is the herb sauna, whose herbs and spices provide a unique, therapeutic aromatherapy experience — guests are even given luscious bathrobes on arrival." - James Wong

Great spa and bath place! Reserve it in advance, morning tends to be cheaper (half price). It has multiple sauna variations, hot and cold bath alongside room temp swimming pool and gym!

Lovely spa with all the amenities you wish for. Different saunas, thermal baths, a big pool and some amazing relaxing areas where you can find a spot to wind down. The package comes with comfortable bathrobes, towels and slippers - very convenient. The facilities are very clean and we were there on a Monday and it wasn’t too busy.

Decent enough experience but very low price-to-quality ratio. Tried their regular visitor (klippkort) deal and it is ghastly; they treat you like a second rate guest throughout. Some tourists might enjoy it but for locals it is more than worth to pay the premium and go to Sturebadet instead. Ps. Staff is very uneven. Today I had a great guy working in the reception; sometimes it has been ok and sometimes awful - just not a consistent service experience that is expected at this price point.

I got a massage here that was mediocre but reasonably priced considering the other options around. I also paid for entry to the spa, including pool, steam room, sauna, etc. I am glad I visited but it was probably 3/5 on the niceness scale. That said, if you are in central Stockholm and looking for a spa/bathhouse, this is your spot!

Google
Amazing experience to end a trip in Stockholm. You have everything that you can imagine there: jacuzzi, cold bath, hot small pool, different kinds of sauna and a swimming pool with a lot of places to relax while listening to the ambience of music. Totally recommend the visit.

Stopped here on my last day for a traditional Swedish massage which was 895 kr on the weekend for 30 minutes. While it’s expensive, the massage was pretty good and I felt relaxed

We booked a 180minute spa visit for 17:30 on a Friday evening. And whilst I’m well aware that it might be slightly busier a time than others, the spa was at capacity for entire duration. It felt more like a bath house than anything. Somewhere where you can go and sit around and talk and laugh with your friend group. The pools in the “silent area” were constantly full and the atmosphere did not reflect its name. The “silent area” was nosy and busy. Another aspect we believe needs improvement are the dressing rooms. Due to the large amount of people it felt like a gym locker room. Everyone was in everyone’s way. Little to no bench room and it left me stressing to get out of there. All in all Im disappointed in my experience and I definitely think that if you are contemplating visiting centralbadet; book for the middle of the week during the day. I will say that the architecture of the hall with the big pool was beautiful.

Yelp
Centralbadet truly is an oasis in the middle of the city. While here, you can leave the hustle and bustle of the world behind for a little while. The energy is quiet and mindful. The surroundings are historic and gorgeous. The saunas are plentiful, the pool area is relaxing, and just for a few hours, you don't have to do anything except exist. I'll admit that was difficult for me at first, but wonderful once my nervous system caught up. Bring a book and read in one of the little nooks surrounding the pool. Breathe deeply in the herbal sauna or bask in the glow of the infrared one. Enjoy the roman baths, or book a treatment for the ultimate relaxation experience. Whatever you choose to do, do not miss a chance to visit. You will love it.

Yelp
We got the weekend joyfully package (3 hr entry and snack tray included) for ~$82 usd which seemed reasonable for the time. We went first thing Saturday morning so not terribly crowded. We tried for large bath, saunas, and hot/cold tubs. Towels and robes and shoe rental included. Do need to wear a swimsuit in public areas

Yelp
The only thing good about this place is the sauna. Even that, half the people don't listen to the no bathing suit rule. The jacuzzi was lukewarm. The jacuzzi and hydro spa was PACKED. Women had their hair down which was gross. Everyone is talking. It's very loud. The pool was okay. Then the massage. You can't consider it a massage. A woman rubbed lotion on my body for $80USD. I asked for more pressure and told her my shoulder was sore. Unfortunately I couldn't speak her language so that was my fault but I tried to communicate. TOURIST TRAP... SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER.

Yelp
No trip to Sweden is complete without a Swedish massage... #firstworldproblems 1110SEK($124) Gets you a 50 minute classic Swedish Massage, robe, 2 towels, slippers for you to keep, and full access to the pool, hot tubs, saunas, jacuzzis, and if you're feeling adventurous: the gym! There's also an outdoor rooftop gym and lounge. I definitely skipped the gym, but the various hot tubs, saunas, jacuzzis etc. were all clean, fabulous, and relaxing. I was here on a Wednesday afternoon, so it wasn't crowded. The vintage Art Deco pool is a time warp back to early 1900s Stockholm...the retro interior design and gorgeous lighting schemes are Swedishly gorgeous. There are private cabanas you can relax in, no extra charge. I wandered up to the rooftop, it was way too cold to be lounging outside in October, but there are some nice views of Stockholm. I was slightly disappointed that my masseuse wasn't a blonde supermodel(joking!), but she did a wonderful and strong job rubbing out the aches and pains throughout my body. (I felt little bad that there wasn't a way to tip her, I had no cash, but I think they get paid better in Sweden than in America). Staff were all very friendly from start to finish, including making massage appointments weeks in advance over email...the Swedes are much better at speaking and writing English than Americans are! There are probably cheaper spas and massages elsewhere, but I think the overall package at Centralbadet was well worth every SEK.

Yelp
We usually go to public bath at hometown1-2 times every week to relieve fatigue. Recommend by a local friend to try this historic baths during our trip in Stockholm this week is really good and helpful for continue journey in Norway and Denmark. Had a good refresh and foods. You can bring towels & swim suit & cap & slippers from hotel for saving cost at 250 Swedish Krona. Of cause to buy a slippers with centralbadet logo is only at 95 Swedish Krona for a keepsake. Today is Monday so cheap than Weekend. I found quite many customers come here after lunch. So better had bath and swim in the morning. Recommend and will visit again when in Stockholm.

Yelp
I went to Centralbadet with a friend when we got a Let's Deal offer, two people for 320kr or something like that. For the price, it was very good. The spa itself is beautiful. We had to wait a while to get in (30 mins) but it wasn't a big deal. The pools are quite nice although they could be larger. The saunas are a highlight - there is a women's only sauna section as well as a large mixed section, with both Nordic saunas and steam bath saunas with music and herbs. That was a favorite of mine - the warm herb-filled steam was amazing! The swimming pool is also large and nice and rather quiet. I read reviewes which said that the staff were quite unfriendly. I don't know if they've been working on it or if I just got different people, but they were extremely cheerful, friendly, and helpful! So I wouldn't worry too much about that. You also are offered chocolate at the reception which is nice. There are a few cons though: This is the only spa I have been to in Stockholm where guests do not get tea or fruit for free. In fact, it seems there is nothing for free, except the one piece of chocolate you take if desire at the reception. But although there are places to lounge and there is a restaurant, you will have to pay to relax with a cup of tea. Also, it is the only spa I have been to here where shampoo, conditioner, and moisturizer are not available for use in the showers/changing rooms. There is soap, and the soap smells great, but after a few hours at Centralbadet my skin and hair were both rather dry and unhappy. I would say it's worth a visit if you get a special deal - I noticed they have a nice summer 2 for 1 deal on Tuesdays - but otherwise, be aware there are better places, like Selma City Spa, Yasuragi, or Blue Hotel.

Yelp
My first few days in Stockholm were in June of 2009. I spent a few days wondering why nothing was going on in town at all, then I realized it was Midsommer. As I was wandering and finding my way in Stockholm. I found that this place was a godsend. I went probably three times in my first week. Swimming, steaming, drinking beer, steaming, swimming, etc. Since then they've remodeled. Some of what they've done I really like, some of it - not so much. Overall I love the place and some of the negatives that people mention are really negatives. I've never found the staff intentionally rude, but they're not amazingly accommodating either. The soap does smell amazing, but it's not so good for my sensitive skin. I've also had moments where the steam rooms weren't amazingly clean. The best screw up they had was after the renovation of this place, they had placed the male and female sauna and steam showers on the opposite sides. So, I naturally had a couple times of stopping myself in my tracks when I was about to walk into the female sauna changing rooms. Then I also had a few moments of women walking directly through the men's sauna change room with us all naked and hanging out for them all to see. I suppose it doesn't matter so much for a women wandering into the WRONG side. I've been to places in Berlin that were basically open changing rooms for all sexes and it was no big deal. It was also nude for both sexes in the same saunas and steam rooms. Of course that's also Berlin. This place gets four stars from me though because I've loved the time I've spent there. Taking a nice relaxed swim with someone special is a joy in this beautiful place.

Yelp
It's gotten worse... I went there last week, and had to pay 350kr. The saunas are now mixed (if you are a man), if you are a woman you have you own saunas, not fair.

Yelp
If I could choose one single word to describe my first, and probably last, visit at Centralbadet it would be 'disappointed'. For such a long time I thought this place would be the bathhouse of all bathhouses and the place to relax of all the hundreds of options in Stockholm, but sadly I was very wrong. My friend gave me a gift card to enjoy one evening here including bathrobe, flip flops, lunch (maximum 130SEK) and access to the relaxing area and the pool. The bathrobes were old and not comfortable at all, the dressing room was outdated and the facility was very small and it did not feel exclusive or calming at all. The staff at the restaurant was obnoxious and the slowest working staff I have seen in a while. It took them nearly 20min to clear our table from empty plates and glasses from previous guests. With this said, the restaurant was not too crowded and they were not short-staffed. All in all, bad service and the quality of the food was bellow average. I wouldn't recommend locals or tourists to come here at all. There are so many other places in Stockholm to go to. And frankly, if you want to relax, a bubble bath at home would have been a better and a much cheaper option than paying a visit to Centralbadet.

Yelp
The prices are way too high. This place is a rip off -- it's short and the massage was terrible. The scenery isn't even nice .. the inside is not calm or relaxing .. my appointment was 40 minutes late.

Gitta H.

Yelp
Beautiful and clean but small and crowded facilities. Great massages. Some staff not serviceminded. The pools are clean and beautiful.

Yelp
Expensive, rude staff - and dishonest! But the killer is, I left and locked my locker at closing time. Five minutes later discovered i left several pieces of jewelry - tho not expensive - things I still would have liked - a fitbit! Called 5 minutes later they are closed. I showed up when they opened next morning. Remember I left as they closed (with locker locked) and showed up at opening. Items gone - were rude and told the staff wouldn't steal. Well, the facts say otherwise.....at least give me the courtesy of looking into it.

Yelp
If only there were negative star ratings, this would get a negative 5. I purchased a massage via Benify (employee discount system offered by my company). I ran 2 minutes late, but understood that their policy is to deduct this time from my massage and that's fine (although this is already shocking to an American, as they would typically make up for your time instead, but I have already learned the hard way that Sweden is not New York). However, the story twists when I ended up waiting 10 minutes for their massage therapist instead! So, I went back down to the counter and I told them that this is not acceptable, I was ok deducting the time I was late by but NOT also deducting the time that the massage therapist is late. Still, they ended up deducting the money from my account as if I did the massage when I did not! After long discussions via phone and email, all they respond to me with is "This Case is Closed". Excuse me? It most certainly is not closed and this shockingly horrendous place cannot get away with this. SAVE YOURSELF THE AGONY AND DO NOT GO HERE. I will be telling every single person I know not to go here and continue reviewing on every single site as well as contact my credit card company and the Benify system. This is horrific and they cannot get away with such disgraceful behavior. No, this case is not resolved.
