Perfect Exposure

Google
Brilliant highlight of Santiago! We visited the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Centre on a Tuesday evening and we were super impressed by its vibrant atmosphere and rich cultural offerings. The centre hosts a variety of performances, exhibitions, and events, making it a hub for art enthusiasts - including informal performances which were being practiced in the amphitheater area near the bar. The building itself is architecturally a statement, which we loved, with mixed materials and angles making up the facade. The contrasts in the scale of exhibition spaces against the wide plazas and circulation space is also very well considered. Finally, the free admission makes it accessible to everyone. The surrounding Lastarria neighborhood offers up its historic charm and lively streets plus plenty of dining options and bars. Definitely worth a visit for anyone interested in the arts.

Fantastic atmosphere, marvelous architecture attracting young people, enabling organic interactions. The building hosts a very nice and popular bar with direct view to skaters and young apprentices of different performances.

This place has a strong reputation for being a gathering point for multiple artistic activities, dramatic plays, and other cultural events 😀 This pride month, they decided to show a series of activities like dancing, plays, and if I'm not mistaken, movies. This is a very inclusive place that I love from the bottom of my heart ❤️ Totally recommend it! BTW, go to its library, one of the most pleasant places to have a good reading session!

Visited in June 2024 and enjoyed wandering around the center. Lots of art to check out as well as a good cafe and bar. Spent some time here on a cold day while traveling and staying in the area. This was a great find.

The place is organized, but during the Mondays I think it's closed, because there's only some squares to hang out. There is also a coffee shop inside, but I didn't tried.

It is a contemporary space where you can find many art exposition forms, such theatre performances, music shows, sculptures, paintings, etc. Keep in mind to see in advance which presentations are open and the tickets availability. Otherwise you will only visit the public place (which is beautiful), but will not explore all areas of this cultural centre.

I came on the weekend with my mother, and while the building and interiors are well kept, the gallery offerings were a bit underwhelming. This is purely from the perspective of coming to see art. There is the performing arts component along with others that were not functioning on the day we visited. Regardless, it was still a cool site to visit.

This building is a really Iconic Architectural sample for the urbanisation of Santiago de Chile. The fretted corten panels, structured in the grid, gives transparency to the facades. The compound it becomes light and natural colored, as a ground an authentic material. The main gap between the entrances is always in a privileged atmosphere, with colours and life.

Yelp
Only enough time for a quick visit here at the GAM where we looked at a couple of the exhibits. It is an interesting spot and I'm sorry that I wasn't able to give it the time that it clearly deserved. It's sort of a cultural center but also a contemporary art museum. And it's free which is awesome and they have a free wifi which is double awesome.

Yelp
Formerly Pincochet's operational headquarters, GAM is now transformed into Santiago's cultural and creative hub. The building has a rusted exterior shell and a large gold fish woven with strips above the terrace. It is a great place to people-watch teens practicing their dance moves in the courtyard or catch a concert or performance held in GAM's theaters.
