CentrePoint on Colombo

This place is great, my only complaint is that they charge an extra $10 for parking which surprised me because 1. It’s a Motel and 2. When I checked more carefully they do indeed state this but it’s hidden away in the ‘amenities’ section and you really have to look carefully to find the ‘parking charge’. Better to know this upfront on the booking confirmation rather than getting an unpleasant surprise when checking in.

My room and bathroom were very clean and I found the bed comfortable. The highlight was the reception. He was so friendly and helpful. I had a good sized room for a very cheap price and the location is perfect in nice walking distance to town but very quiet. They serviced the room and replaced the towels and tea bags and cleaned the cups and glasses. I would stay there again.

Extremely unforgiving and unhelpful Manager! Yes, so I made a mistake and in my hurry to book accommodation at the same place as my friend, accidentally booked my room for January instead of February! There was no contact from Centrepoint in January to question why I didn't show though (they had my contact details), and so when I showed up in February, I was genuinely shocked and confused to find I didn't have a booking! This was just before the start of the massive Electric Avenue festival, so no other accommodation was available anywhere! My friend still had his double room booked though and so I paid over $400 for my non-appearance in January, thinking he would let me bunk down in my friends room. How wrong I was! I was told very clearly and unsympathetically (after paying) that despite us both paying in full there was absolutely no way he would allow me to stay in my friend's room (the price was exactly the same when booking for one or two people). He 100% could of helped me and chose not to help in any way. He could have informed me about the no-show so I could have prepared another booking for February. He could have allowed me to stay in my friends room. He could have helped me find another place to stay. To make it even more challenging, I'm from the North Island and so didn't know anyone that lived in Christchurch! Fortunately, a friend of my younger brother had recently moved there and was able to save the day short notice, but I certainly will NEVER recommend Centrepoint on Colombo - from my experience they will most take your money and then leave you on the streets.

BEWARE! I booked a “pay at property” room via ringing reception 3 days prior but had to cancel 15 hours later due to sickness and was never advised that I would still be charged… fast forward to 5 days after cancelled booked date and I have just been charged full price for the room, if you book within 7 days of your stay please beware you will be charged full price as their cancellation policy apparently states you have to cancel 7 days prior to checkin. Which is impossible when you book within that 7 days.

Location is great and rooms are in good nick, but I could hear noise (including normal conversations, footsteps, and their bathroom tap) from the room above me. This meant I couldn't sleep until they slept and I woke when they woke.

Beautifully appointed room more like a flat plenty of room even had recliner chairs .Spotlessly clean and very friendly staff . Highly recommend staying here

Do not let hotel arrange transfers because they only wait 5 minutes after published arrival time (we prepaid then had to pay again because train was 10 minutes late then it took 12 minutes to disembark & collect bags)! Also, charged 3% for paying by credit card although we fully paid via Hotel.com with no mention of the fee. Decor is 60s at best (everything right down to lamps), carpet was totally worn out and badly needs replacing ASAP, and bed sagged in middle making sleeping uncomfortable.

The rooms are clean, large, spacious and quiet. Leon is an excellant host. İ would recommend this motel to anyone.

Clean, nice, large room with kitchenette. Whirlpool tub even had heaters on the jets. Heated towel rack, cookies & milk in room, over 500 channels, comfortable bed, free WiFi, & friendly, family owned business. The owners really care & went above & beyond. Reasonably priced. They had a card with free recycling service that took food compost, plastic, & even offered to deliver unwanted clothes or shoes to those in need. What a great idea! Highly recommend!
