The CIC is housed in an original Canarian building, providing a series of spaces to hold cultural exhibitions in.
We visited in June 2019, and the current exhibition is of canvases by Ildefonso Aguilar. These consist of textured pictures of volcanic landscapes, depicting an understandable link between Lanzarote and Iceland.
The pictures are displayed on three levels, reached by stairs. There's a fourth subterranean level where an audiovisual display of rock formations is shown against the walls of the cellar. This was very atmospheric and worthwhile taking time to appreciate the changing images.
The entire exhibition is free entry. There is also access via the El Almacen bar next door. For the lower levels this has a lift or alternatively you use an attractive wooden staircase.
According to staff there, opening hours remain the same after this exhibition finishes on 13th July. Check out what follows next.
