"“Dude” is a word that's used a lot around Rancho Pescadero, a small hotel in the surfing town of Todos Santos, located in the Mexican state of Baja California. The rooms here, however, don't reflect the dude aesthetic, which is to say they are clean and classy. Spacious suites offer comfortable spots to relax, with most having retractable glass doors that eliminate barriers between indoors and outdoors and open up onto terraces that have hammocks or lounge beds. Terra-cotta tile floors, rattan and wood furniture, and locally made accents—such as hand-embroidered throw pillows—are some of the decor elements found in rooms. Surfers won't feel totally out of their element, though; world-famous breaks are less than 10 minutes away and staff can give pointers on the best spots to hang ten. Apart from surfing, the hotel encourages guests to spend a lot of time relaxing and immersing themselves in the laid-back Baja lifestyle."

Yelp
My wife and I had a very delightful and delicious lunch in Todos Santos after beachtime. They offer a fantastic buffet lunch with such variety we got to taste everything. The carne empanada rellena was both our favorite. I had a bright and fresh Tamarind agua fresca. Just off the main street in El Centro. Have a great meal!!

Yelp
Fast and friendly service. We came for lunch so it was a buffet. Clean restaurant and delicious food! Didn't snap pictures but it all tasted great. The buffet price doesn't include drinks, which is where they charge more. But overall is was yummy!

Yelp
We went to the Sunday buffet at La Generala based on the overwhelming 5 star reviews. We eat a lot of Mexican food in San Jose, California and from being raised in SoCal. The food is just ok. Cochinita, chicken mole, chicharrones, bbq chicken wings, birrira, soles, etc. Nothing special by California standards just an all you can eat Mexican place with homemade blue corn tortillas over a beautiful garden. Next time, we'll go to the fish taco place around the corner.

Yelp
As many of you know, I oversee the Instagram Fails HOF, Bonus division. Our motto is "Where clicks go to die." This week I'm in Todos Santos, about 60 minutes northwest of Cabo San Lucas. I've been to La Generala before, for breakfast or as we say it here desyanos. The offer either a la carte or buffet. I strongly recommend buffet. Both times it has rocked. They change up some dishes but keep others. La espousa loves the mole. I find it to sweet, for my fine palate. It has pollo in it, but again, she loves it. I like the spicy eggs. Which is rojo salsa (means red sauce) that is spicy and eggs are scrambled. It's so good. If you love refried beans, you will love theirs. They show corn tortillas, but if you ask they have flour in the back. All are homemade. They have fried eggs, a couple of pollo dishes, and a couple of carnitas (pork) too. The latter does change in dish type. They also have at least one veggie dish and the Spanish rice, is to die for. The price point is good, parking is street only. I recommend getting there before 10 am otherwise lots of humans hitch means you are parking about a couple of blocks away. I strongly recommend La limonada de Nautral. It's made on the spot and rocks. And it is nonalcoholic. Please be aware that any time you get a refill it's a fee. Coffee I believe isn't but always ask. And please tip. I recommend 20 percent. The wages in Mexico are pretty bad. For example, the daily wage minimum is around 8.40 a DAY. Sure at restaurants it should be higher, but who knows. Oh, and it is 100% legal for any retail/hospitality or service place to choose their own exchange rate. So you can ask them, if you are concerned.

Yelp
Out of all the places I've eaten at, probably one of the best. Just a good place overall for some good home cookin'

Yelp
When the line's out the door and you're the only gringos, you know you've come to the right place! Pop your name down and sit in the sun, the line moves quickly but no matter how long the wait is it's worth it. Walking in, it feels like you're in someone's house, it's open air at the back and you can wander down into their garden. This is buffet brunch done right, everything is served out of clay pots and the tortillas are being made fresh right next to the buffet. My favorite thing about La Generala's is their goal of zero waste - so serve yourself only what you will finish and eat, or you risk getting charged an extra waste fee! We didn't discover anything we didn't like, and that's saying something because between the 3 of us we tried basically everything. Highly recommend!

Yelp
autentico mexicano, No ordinario!! A veces es mucho más feliz admitir que eres normal y corriente que sobresaliente. Vamos, nosotros ordinarios!!!

Yelp
When the line's out the door and it's mostly locals, you know you've come to the right place! We were craving some local, authentic things and after hearing so many great things about La Generala, we knew we had to try it. We just wanted to come here for a Sunday breakfast...the problem is that we were too late for it. ON AN EVEN BETTER NOTE...their buffet was LIVE and ready to be devoured. Our wait time was about 15-20 min at max which wasn't too horrible. It was for sure WELL WORTH IT! As soon as you walk in, you feel like you've just entered a family's colorful casita/patio. Everything is open, breezy and well ventilated. We were seated in the back area which we loved, right near the buffet station. As is, I'm never really a huge fan of buffets since usually the food isn't as good as it would be if you ordered a la carte. Also, with covid, I didn't really feel too comfortable having everyone touch everything. Good thing La Generala thought of EVERYTHING. The buffet stations had plexi glass, masks were mandatory and also provided. Plastic gloves were also mandatory and provided. Fresh plates available as well. My favorite thing about La Generala's concept is you can eat anything and everything, as much as you like. Their goal is zero waste. So serve yourself only what you will finish and eat. We literally ate everything we had (except for this one soup that was a huge portion). Everything was brought out fresh at the moment, tortillas made in front of you, ingredients were ridiculously insanely amazing. There was not a single "bad item" on our plates. Our guava agua frescas were so delicious and refreshing. This is one of our favorite spots for authentic, large portions, cheap, delicious, homemade, mom and pop, mexican food! Can't wait to be back!!!!!

Yelp
I highly recommend this place. It's authentic Mexican food. Very beautiful outdoor sitting and food is delicious .

Yelp
Just come here, don't think about it. Food was outstanding, real authentic and tasty. So many dishes to choose from. Came with a party of 12 and they accommodated us.

Yelp
Best meal we had in the area. Very authentic and delicious! Our favorite was the mole and Rojas- so flavorful. The mole was sweet and it was the first time I've had real mole without all the other Tex Mex condiments. It was amazing! Slightly life changing the corn tortillas were good and the staff was extremely attentive (Arturo was awesome!) The whole restaurant is cute and we really enjoyed our time. PS get the cafe de olla!
google avatar

Oren P.

Yelp
The buffet is very popular with locals. I could only eat one full plate plus soup and desert - but some people went back for several plates. The food is considered "traditional Mexican". Flies can be a little annoying and the little fan they put on the table doesn't really help. I liked that the tortillas served were made from blue corn - and that as soon as they ran out of any listed fruit flavor of agua they erased it from the chalk board. The many signs with sayings about food posted on the walls are amusing to read, remember, and share. There is also a bit of a view from the back patio seating area.

Yelp
Amazing little place with a delicious brunch buffet! We had chilaquiles, sopa de letras, and many more authentic dishes!

Patricia P.

Yelp
This place has really good home cooked food. The pollo en salsa poblana and the mole Dulce tasted just like my grandmothers cooking. The staff is very friendly and the place was clean. I highly recommend this hidden gem.

Yelp
This was a last minute pick after a long day ....we came in without reservation and got seated! The 7 of Our party were all impressed with the food the quality in the amount of food served in each plate the service was excellent everybody was very cordial cute little setting on wall that apparently the locals and the tourists enjoy!!! love the decor.

Mellissia Y.

Yelp
We went for lunch and it was buffet only. The food was good, some was better than others but for a buffet it was cheap and authentic. The servers were great and the restaurant was open air and beautiful. Definitely would Recommend to anyone in the area.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican food. Good service and attitude. Patio in the back is very nice. Good place to meet locals and have good Mexican food. The owner is usually there making sure everything is ok, that makes a big difference in any business.

Yelp
This was pretty good! The barbacoa was the highlight for me (deep flavor, salty, not sweet like in some places, very tender like corned beef) as well as the chichuronnes guisado (wonderful tomatillo-based stews). The chicken mole was too sweet for me and the corn tortillas (handmade in front of you) were underwhelming. Fantastic salsa. Overall great value. Nice airy outdoor space.

Yelp
This place is ridiculously delicious! I did a yelp search and went with a highly rated place. I could not be more impressed! The buffet was fresh and had lots of variety. The mole and chilorio were my favorites on the menu. If I lived here, I'd eat here at least weekly. They have a great thing going and the flavors were amazing. Well done!

Diana G.

Yelp
Excellent buffet. Authentic delicious Mexican food. A local place of the tourist route. I would highly recommend walking a half mile from the tourist part of town to La Generala

Yelp
This place is really good! I initially tried coming on a Sunday but there was a line out the door of people waiting, so I decided to come back the next day and there was no line at all. They were only in buffet style for that day but I didn't mind at all because there was such a huge variety of things to try, so I tried everything! I loved it all, especially the birria they had. I also had pineapple juice with my meal and it was homemade and not overly sweet. The staff is very friendly and the environment is amazing, I will definitely be back!

Yelp
This place was seriously the best. We went here almost every day for the breakfast buffet. You can't beat the price and food was so fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the most amazing cocktails I've ever had from the bartender turned friend Jonathan. Please do yourself a favor and ask him to make You a fresh fruit cocktail. He literally went and picked fruit off a tree and made us the best mezcalitas. Thank you Jonathan for The best time! See you in March.

Yelp
Great buffet with so much local fare variety ...delicious! Great service and yummy margaritas. Authentic, must visit!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute ambiance! It's a buffet style type of cuisine and it's DELICIOUS!!! The staff was sweet and the food is constantly stocked up. This was the first place that my group and I went to when we landed.

Yelp
Very good breakfast!! We stopped here on our way to La Paz. Great place! They also have these homemade blue corn tortillas that were very good.

Richard H.

Yelp
Great food by menu and excellent buffet. Servers accommodating for changes to some selections. Drinks were well made and priced reasonably.

Yelp
If you want cute ambience and a nice view of a garden with authentic Mexican food, this is your place. We had the buffet and every item we ate (which was everything provided) was incredible. They literally make the tortillas next to the buffet.
google avatar

Yelp
The buffet is to die for. My party of 4 saw this place had good reviews so we checked it out- and were blown away. We had an unforgettable lunch and the drinks were awesome!!!

Yelp
Amazing gem! Breakfast and lunch buffet. Cafe de olla is very unique and delicious. All the goods are homemade, authentic and delicious. Fresh tortillas as well. A must if you're in todos santos!

Heather N.

Yelp
Fantastic lunch buffet with traditional food from scratch. Blue corn tortillas made to order. Great service from Arturo and his team. Fresh ingredients, clean restaurant, with friendly people.

Yelp
I can't recommend this place enough. The buffet is $145MXN over age 10 and $75MXN 10 and under. It has taquito con papas, two types of posole, caldo de res, empanadas, fried eggs, arroz, frijoles, grilled nopales, pancakes, salchichas, rajas, scrambled eggs in red sauce, scrambled eggs and ham, chilaquiles, three types of salsa and really good blue corn tortillas. They also had lots of different aquas frescas: pineapple, banana, orange, guava, lemon, watermelon, cantaloupe and a couple others. They also had some licuadas that my kids liked. They loved the strawberry one. My wife and I loved their jugo verde which was celery, cilantro, pineapple and some other stuff that made a delicious green smoothie. We are seriously considering coming back down to this restaurant from where we're staying in La Paz again because we loved it so much. This is a destination for breakfast.

Yelp
They are open every day except Mondays till 9pm. We are spending few days in Todos and were recommended this place for dinner. We walked through beautiful front doors into an open room with massive concrete island with clay pots seating on top of it. A Mexican buffet to enjoy!!! There were plenty of food to choose from but could resist the buffet. Our child enjoy the buffet as well at almost half the price. You got to try it if you are in TS. And they have a full bar, Cheers!!!

Yelp
Amazing food and wonderful service. Everything is made fresh. The tortillas are made right at the buffet and brought to the table. The inside is airy and charming with lots of seating. I hope to be back soon.

Maki Y.

Yelp
just had lunch, my boyfriend had the quesadillas with beef and they were good, my ceviche was also good but there was nothing really that stood out for us to come back. The server was nice but there is only one for all tables so it was slow. I guess there would be more value if we had the buffet and tried more dishes but we were not so hungry. The outdoor seating is pleasant. You can't beat their price. It was the cheapest restaurant we ate at through our trip.

Ben T.

Yelp
Visited Todos Santos near Cerritos, we were amazed at how good the food was here. Get the buffet and ask for what each item is. Everything is awesome, clean, VERY inexpensive. Probably our best meal on our trip to BCS
google avatar

Yelp
The food is so good! Must try if you are in the area!! My husband had the all you can eat breakfast buffet which included many different choices & handmade blue corn tortillas. I went with the Chilaquiles Especiales. Both of our selections were amazing!! They have breakfast or lunch options, come hungry for quality food at low prices!

Yelp
Ate Sunday Lunch here on the recommendation of our hotel manager. The staff was very friendly. This place was amazing, the best. Great Mole, Fresh blue tortillas. Huge Sunday buffet with too much to mention except that it was all delicious. Highly recommended if you want to get slightly off the well beaten tourist path and have some authentic Mexican food.

Yelp
Stop by here to eat on my way to La Paz, I had the Buffet and tried all the food they had here and it was great! Handmade tortillas and the margaritas were awesome! The owner was really nice! Highly recommend this place to everyone!

Yelp
Delicious fresh food. The buffet was excellent and affordable. Would definitely recommend this place. Staff was very attentive and friendly.

Yelp
This is by far the best place I have tried in baja...buffet $6 And the best mole I have had in Years! Every dish we tried was delicious.
google avatar

Ish S.

Yelp
Stumbled across this little gem when looking for some lunch in Todos Santos and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing traditional Mexican food served buffet style or entree. I got the buffet and it had the works. Red rice, beans, scrambled eggs and veggies, mole, pazole, rajas and more but probably the my favorite had to be the hand made blue tortillas. I wish I took some home with me!
google avatar

Patricia N.

Yelp
I would've given this place 5 stars a few days ago as I've had some great breakfasts there in the last month. Great breakfast buffet, omelets, delicious salsa and best of all, hand made blue corn tortillas cooked outside on a griddle. Today I was very disappointed with the food. They changed the menu, they upped the prices and the food was not as good. The potatoes they serve with every mean we're so undercooked I couldn't eat them. The wonderful fresh salsa I was used to getting was replaced with a goopy, oily, spicey something that I did not enjoy. Even the blue corn tortillas didn't seem the same, over cooked possibly. I don't know what happened. I would still give it another try at another time.
google avatar

Sandy L.

Yelp
Excellent authentic Mexican food and drinks. We had the lunch buffet and everything was fresh and flavorful. Prices are fairly reasonable.

Yelp
Omg, This place was absolutely amazing! And very affordable! I absolutely loved the little brunch buffet they had going on. He couldn't beat the price it was under $10 a person and so authentic. Their smoothies were amazing! Can't wait to go back
google avatar

Yelp
This breakfast buffet! So good! So affordable! So many options! Such beautiful atmosphere! If we're in the area again, we will definitely be back.

Yelp
Yummmmmmm! My wife and I finally had dinner here and OMG what a great place. First, I must admit I was hesitant because we understood they have a buffet, which gave me pause - we changed our minds twice previously because of this (REALLY DUMB on my part). As it turns out, you have a choice of the buffet or anything from their menu. After learning what was on the buffet, I chose this and could not have been more; surprised, thrilled, and stuffed!! The buffet is wood fired, and has traditional Mexican crockery pots which hold incredible food; Amazing Chicken Mole, Bisteak Fajitas, hand made yellow and blue corn tortillas, Macaroni Soup, beans, rice, shredded chicken breast, and much more. This came with Green salad, and cheesecake, and rice pudding, and more which I am forgetting - this was really, really, really good. The atmosphere is very nice. We sat at a table near the bar which has ivy type greenery growing on two walls giving it a garden spot feel which was very cozy. There are many areas to choose from which range from indoor seating with nice artwork, to patio dining under pergolas - lots of room and beautiful seating choices. They have every aspect of a great dining experience down. Service is excellent, food top notch, and the Margaritas are some of the best in town! I can't wait to go back to my new favorite place.

Bruce S.

Yelp
This place always has good authentic Mexican food. Margaritas are hit and miss. Depends on bartender

Jody K.

Yelp
I love this place! It was the best restaurant I went to my entire week in Mexico. The staff was just amazing, and the food was just as good. We actually got to make our own tortillas and guac, and were taught how to make authentic quesadillas. They even grow all of their own produce right out back. I really love this place and my only regret is I don't live closer. The next time I am within 100 miles of this place, I will be sure to return

Sidney M.

Yelp
We ate here twice in December 2020. Both times we enjoyed the most delicious lunch buffet.
