Although the location of Centrum Hostel is great, as it is located very close to Debrecen City Centre, I didn't feel safe staying there. The owner is creepy. Initially he seemed to be nice and friendly but when he found that I was travelling solo, he sent me weird texts. Also, the condition of the room is pretty bad, the bathroom is filled with water and the heating of the room doesn't work at all. Despite my several requests regarding the fixing of the heater, the owner did nothing. And the worst part is during the check out, he asked for extra money on the pretext of "foreign taxes" while I had checked clearly that my payment was inclusive of all taxes. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Room was fine, but lacking hangers and the fridge was smelly. Instead of microwave would be better to have kettle

For a decent price fairly clean and comfy accommodation. In top floors on the hallway is warmer. Windows are isolating but when you open them you can hear the trams. Intense vibrations in the windows. On opposite side there is a night bar- noise from drunk people during night. Close to the center. Various options for breakfast. I recommend the Hungarian style omelette.

The breakfast was in a cellar without any windows. They have a nice garden, but not allowed to eat there. We try to come up from the cellar with the breakfast, the manager say NO. And if we don't like it don't eat here. It was very rude. ||Every morning in front of our room there were renovation. Lot of nasty guy worked on this renovation. It was very loud in the early mornings. ||The manager guy take extra money for Everything.. If you want air-condition, charges you without any receipt! If you ask for the receipt, charges you! Extra 27% to get the receipt...||We wanted to leave our bag in the last day of the reception, they told us every bag every hour is 250huf! We have 4 bags it would cost a lot of money to leave it until afternoon... So we sold this situation in a different way.. ||We had a booked and payed room for 4 night I have an additional person with me. Before rhwy say it cost 2000/night then charges me double price 5000huf/night so 4 night cost 20000 huf without any recipt! When i asked the manager guy ask extra 27% |So the whole 4 night would cost 87000 huf for little place on an very low standards.. In this price we could have a much more better place in anywhere! ||The ladies whose where worked there were very kind. I really feel sorry for them they had to worked with grumpy manager. ||Be aware frome the bold guy with mustache in the reception. He is the money bunny, charges you any time! ||

Now this place is a very thorough study of what a typical commie era housing estate flat would look like in true prole fashion. Very tight spaces stuffed full of all sort of low quality and useless "must have in the apartment" accessories, no items match the style of any other, the placement of fittings and style of furniture is totally random. The staff is creepy at first but then turns out to be kind with a weird attitude, which also comes from the commie Hungary of the 80's. My room was very clean and kinda tidy, but I would get sick of the mood of it if I had to stay longer than a night. Use this place only if you want to spend a night somewhere and move on quickly. The breakfast was okay, though, and the bed was comfy. No photos here, I am not doing visual pollution. Blaeh.

Within walking distance from the center of Debrecen. Quiet, with a green garden. Very friendly and helpful owner and staff.||||Private parking (in a garden on the opposite side of the street). Well equipped, oddly(!) furnished, room with DVD, hundreds of satellite channels, free WiFi, microvawe oven. Clean.||||Location registered in Garmin Navigator database for Europe.||||If all rooms are occupied in the Centrum Pension (Hungarian: Centrum Panzió), there are 3 - 4 other small hotels and pensions within 100 m on the same street.

This is the second visit in pension Centrum, after 4 years we tried again. The small house is very nice, spacious and the way from the entrance is full of flowers and small ponds with water, fish and flowers. The breakfast is nice, the staff try very hard to please you.||||English knowledge improved since the last time we visited!
