On the Grid : Blue Door Antiques & Elements

"If you like a good treasure hunt you will find it at Blue Door Antiques & Elements. Blue Door is light and bright, with lots of refurbished antique furniture and chandeliers adding to the ambiance. Start on the first floor, sorting through their selection of old keys, vintage pocket watches, and brightly-painted iron wall hooks. Then, wander your way into the basement to find more housewares as well as old wooden windows, vintage door handles, or eclectic lawn ornaments." - CreativeMornings Grand Rapids

Pretty good antique store and if you like vintage toys there is a lot to choose from.

While visiting here, there are a couple more in same building. This one is cool. Many booths. Cold, wear gloves. There are a-lot of booths that are 15- 50 percent off. Some things are overpriced of course. Done are right on par for eBay prices. Great variety. I’ve researched antiques and have seen things I’ve never seen in person. Great experience overall.

I truly love and enjoy century the name fits it just right. Because, every time I go in there it takes me back in time. Yes! When I'm there I have to get more then just one thing..

I've been there a billion times. I send a lot of people there. I messaged about a question about an old vintage item and got a very weird rude response immediately. Not professional whatsoever on their social media

First time there and I was in awe of the amount of items there are! A treasure hunt indeed. So much fun, fairly priced. I liked that they didn’t charge an extra fee for using a credit card, just a minimum purchase of $10. I look forward to stopping again in the future to see what I find!

I could get lost in this place for days and go through once in awhile to see whats new. My last treasures I found were this old ladder that is repurposed as a blanket ladder and a stone Buddha statue.

Yelp
If you're looking for some extremely unique antiques- this place is worth checking out. They have a surplus of unique, less unique, old world and simply vintage items. We particularly enjoyed pawing through the vintage clothing section. The building itself is very old and full of character so even if you're not in the market for anything... stepping into Century antiques is worth the experience alone. And, you never know if you may stumble across a hidden gem! They're conveniently located around the corner from Founders brewery, so it's a perfect stop to walk off that beer you just enjoyed!

Yelp
I have to start by saying that antique shopping is not my favorite sport. Unless there is something specific I'm looking for, I usually get a little claustrophobic and overwhelmed at Century Antiques. However, my last visit wasn't too bad. I was looking for a 2 cup Pyrex glass measure, which I figured would be pretty easy to find. Luckily I found one pretty quickly and was then able to focus on finding the weirdest piece in each booth. Every little section has a different vendor, and some take time to make cute displays and tidy things up. Some do not. In fact, the Phil's Stuff area sometimes looks like stuff was literally just thrown into the upstairs rooms with no regard for any kind of order. Some people might enjoy digging through these piles, but I don't. I tend to avoid that area of the store. I think you could probably find anything you're looking for, if you have enough time and patience. I always enjoy seeing things I remember having as a kid or things I recognize from my grandparents' homes growing up. Lots of Fisher Price toys that seem to be very valuable to some at this point. The pricing varies wildly and I think most prices are firm, since the vendors themselves are not often around to haggle with. Luckily they sell snacks because I realized too late that I should have eaten before starting an epic shopping trip. I was able to get some fruit snacks and trail mix that held me over through our whole time there, but I'd probably bring a snack and my water bottle next time. If you're on the hunt for hidden gems and love antiques, check out this place!

Yelp
Visiting this time of year the first thing you'll notice is it's cold. Very cold. Like Bob Cratchit begging Scrooge for 1 more piece of coal cold. Understandable that the cost to heat a huge and drafty space such as this must be a small fortune but I do think that when the temperature makes your nose start running and your hands numb it's time to bump up the thermostat a few notches. The store is a hodgepodge of antique booths, some well maintained, some so crammed and horderesque that you fear for your life to step in. We enjoy visiting and there are treasures to be found. I do wish they did a little better job of nudging their vendors to clean up their spaces. Most recently they have acquired the adjoining space vacated by the former Buckley antique shop. This space still has some of the best curating of items (and some heat!) Worth visiting if you are in the area and don't mind digging through some clutter.

Yelp
Many great treasures! Tons of dishes and pottery. I visit every couple of months and always find new pieces to add to my collections. Most booths are organized well.

Yelp
This is THE best antique store I have been to in Grand Rapids. They have awesome items at very reasonable prices. But.... Jim and Lori Have great knowledge of their items. I found rare items there that were restored to perfection. Handy man Joe does awesome work. Thank you all for such a warm welcome to your second home. I had a wonderful time.

Yelp
Located in an old factory building on Century Ave near US-131/Wealthy St. - kind of difficult to get to just because of location, but worth it when you get there. A lot of great merchandise - and it's antiques, not junk ; very reasonable prices. Because it's a very old building, can be chilly in the winter months, so wear your coat in. Former owner sadly passed away several months ago, so his partner is running the place now. He's friendly, yet has one of those senses of humor that sometimes you can't tell if he's sort of being funny or being a bit biting. Overall a nice guy and helpful. I like this antique mall, and it's also next to 2 others, so you can make an afternoon of antique-ing if you choose to.
