If You Are Traveling to Milan, Here Are 12 Wineries You Have to Visit

"A multi-generational Piedmontese estate that combined early investment in Barolo crus with a strong commitment to biodynamic farming, contemporary hospitality and integrated art. The tasting experience is theatrical — including a cantilevered, room-sized plastic bubble offering dramatic vineyard views — and the family’s investments extend to acclaimed local restaurants (from a celebrated trattoria to a three-Michelin-starred dining room), making visits memorable for both wine and food enthusiasts." - Federico De Cesare Viola

In Piedmont, Unearthing Wine and Fine Dining to Rival Tuscany’s

"Ceretto Wineries, located at Tenuta Monsordo Bernardina in Alba, is a dynamic winery known for its Barolos. The winery's setting includes a company HQ among the vines, where landscape, design, and contemporary art intersect."

Overpriced and disappointing wine experience. Cru tasting was 1 white, 2 Barbaresco & 3 mediocre barolos all from a single vintage showing no real variety or depth for a ridiculous high price. Way, way, way too much very basic wine talking and walking and very very slow to pour the very few wines. Too much time in between pours. Too much unneeded endless information. Friendly and delightful staff and the fantastic toasted hazelnuts do not make up for the fact that this is not worth the price at all. There are so many better Barbarescos and Barolos for better prices nearby. Avoid. Ceretto Cru tasting... Langhe, Barbaresco, and Barolo. Lots and lots of talking in broken English. Horizontal 2021 was good but not great - very odd choices if their intent was to hopefully sell bottles of wine. Asili Barbaresco tasty but not full. La Morra lots of perfume. Surprise 2014 bottle was awful and oxidized (oddly a few people in the tasting argued that they loved it) - a terrible example of how structure should stand up. Ceretto can do so much better, but for this $400 price (for 3ppl) and 6 tasting pours of relatively mediocre wines, I would never come back. Perhaps they don't actually want people to come and taste?

My partner and I had a vertical tasting yesterday at Ceretto and it was absolutely an amazing experience. Particularly we want to thank Clara (apologies if the spelling is wrong) who was extremely kind, knowledgeable and patient and who had gone out of her way to accommodate us. My partner and I had such a great tasting experience with her that we both thought she made our day and we decided to buy one of the most expensive bottles before we left as our way to thank her kindness. We will surely want to return sometime in the future.

We really enjoyed our wine tasting experience here. The wines were excellent, the views breathtaking and our guide was both knowledgeable and kind - making the visit relaxed and memorable. Book for tasting in advance especially in high season.

The place is amazing, the wine is very good and a super interesting experience. But a very important thing to highlight was the person running our visit: Irene We couldn't believe it when she said it was only her second week. Known the wines perfectly, the region, the history, and spoke about all of them with passion. Even I had to delay the experience for work and she waited while spending time with my partner. If someone goes, I strongly recommend asking for her

Yes €90 is not cheap and you can also go to smaller vineyards for less. But you get 6 Barbaresca and Barolo from vintages back to 2008, from the best patches that this house has acquired over the years. Our guide Elena was very welcoming and even waited a bit for the couple that was late, calling them as well. The environment is so picture perfect. The wines have great depth which is perfectly explained by Elena. Afterwards I was treated very friendly with my modest order for shipping to the Netherlands. So they are definately very hospitable as opposed to the one star reviews that I've read.

Tried cru tasting with my wife. The overall experience is above average. Instead of serving wines and let us try one after another in a fast manner, maybe it’s better to give few wines some time to open up. A bit too commercial and wines themselves are overpriced to my own taste.

I chose this winery for tasting because of their attitude to art and modern architecture. And it is appeared to be one of the most well known and big wineries in Piedmont! May be we were the first guests after Christmas holidays and there were just a small degustation for two of us, which was hold by Claudia, who was very-very nice with us and explained the difference between Barolo and Barbaresco :) We tried beautiful wines and bought couple of bottles. Thank you!
