Overall really enjoyed it. Whether you like physics or not, it’s definitely worth going and you will learn something new all the time.
An amazing experience - I saw all of the exhibitions and went on a guided tour of the ATLAS control room and synchro cyclotron. The exhibitions were really interesting with the perfect ratio of information and interactive fun. I specifically enjoyed watching a Cloud Chamber in action and listening to a guide telling me about the ELISA beam. There are CERN guides in red jackets around the exhibitions who you can ask questions to at any time.
When we arrived at CERN, we went straight to the Cafe to get a baguette and chips, and I have to say the chips were delicious. They have locker rooms which you can store bags in no charge, and they were very easy to use. The people there spoke English and French, the two main languages of CERN.
We also got to see the Proton Express show which was interesting, where we were shown and explained how the cooling and magnet systems work in the LHC to steer protons around the 27km ring.
The staff were all friendly and generally amazing!
The gift shop was quite expensive, but the products were good quality.
I ended the visit loving physics even more than I did before, and I learned about the many opportunities here and experiments.
You can only buy tickets to things when you are at CERN, this was actually quite convenient and they were quite available when we were there.
