Cerro de La Cruz

A short 10 minute hike through a forest to reach the gorgeous views. There’s plenty of place to sit and admire once at the summit. A safe and fairly busy route, it really is a must visit when in Antigua.

If you’re in the area, this is an absolute must-visit! The climb may get your heart pumping, but it’s all stairs and totally doable—and trust me, the reward at the top is spectacular. The views are nothing short of breathtaking! On our visit, the volcano’s crest was draped in clouds, which added a mystical touch, but on a clear day, it must be jaw-dropping. From the summit, you’ll enjoy sweeping panoramas of the city framed by a stunning volcanic backdrop—perfect for photos and unforgettable memories. It wasn’t crowded when we went, but I can imagine it’s popular during high season. Bring a picnic and savor a meal with one of the best views you’ll ever experience!

Absolutely gorgeous views. Definitely worth the hike up. I had to stop a few times due to the elevation. Vender and public workers were very professional and maintained the grounds well.

This place was so peaceful and the view is absolutely breathtaking. I’m so happy my husband and I were able to experience this while on our mission trip.

The hike up to Cerro de la Cruz is an easy and enjoyable walk, taking about 10 minutes from the base. It’s well maintained and very accessible, making it a great option even if you’re short on time. At the top, you’re rewarded with a beautiful panoramic view overlooking Antigua’s historic center, with the volcanoes often visible on a clear day. A perfect quick outing for photos and a great perspective on the city.

Thera a walking trail to the top. Alot of people were us9ng it to exercise. Thr view fromt he top is mostly of agua. Really nice spot to just sit and relax. Plenty of concrete seating at top. Shaded areas depending on sun direction. There was a coupla small vendors at the top. Not the best place to see fuego. The lower section was closed when I went. There were a coupla birds but not much. There was a pack of wild dogs that got aggressive on the way down but a local chased them off. Recommend.

Cerro de la Cruz is definitely worth the visit in Antigua. The walk up is short and easy — just a few minutes of stairs through a shaded path — and at the top you get an amazing panoramic view over the city with the volcano perfectly in the background. It’s the best place to get that classic Antigua photo. The area is safe, there are usually other visitors around, and the viewpoint has plenty of space to sit and relax. Great spot for sunrise or sunset, but honestly impressive at any time of day. If you’re in Antigua, this is a must-see.

A great place to view the Antigua city from some distance. Easy to see all the popular attractions. It is a little hike and climbing up to the top though.
