"Hike Cerro de la Gloria The hike up Cerro de la Gloria in General San Martin Park is a steep 45-minute trek but worth the panoramic city views. Make sure you bring lots of water and go early in the day before the weather is too hot and the views too hazy. At the top, you’ll also be rewarded with an impressive bronze monument honoring the Army of the Andes led by Argentina liberator General San Martin, a battalion he marched from Mendoza to Chile to free the country from Spanish rule. The memorial was built to commemorate the Argentina Centennial of 1910. If you’re too tired to climb back down, you can take the public bus, but will need exact change to ride (check current price at the tourist office)."

We definitely expected more after reading some reviews. It’s quite underwhelming, and only has a view from one side which is nice. We walked from independence plaza through the park which wasn’t very nice in certain areas especially at the end as you are walking next to a busy road. The actual pedestrian climb to the monument wasn’t that bad but was a little steep. Potentially because we walked 2 hours to get there, we were a little unimpressed. If you have a morning to kill & you have nothing else to do then we would say to go

Great spot to see the surroundings, has a big parking, lots of people are spending their free time here. A nice place for sure

I was lucky that I found a local guide that was off duty and told me some details about San Martin, his troops and the Spanish priest who thought the locals how to work with steel. Peru was one of the first countries that recognised and paid tribute to San Martin

Beautiful views and a spectacular monument. We walked all the way up and and its long and quite steep in places but definitely worthwhile to avoid traffic and the car park.

Hermoso lugar , están remodelando lo que era el antiguo kiosko me parece una excelente obra ya que es un lugar Muy visitado por turistas beautiful place, remodeling of the old market, excellent work since it is a place very popular with tourists, it represents freedom before Spain It is the only statue of San Martin in which he does not point to the Andes mountain range, he observes the place with crossed arms once the campaign is over
