18 of the Best Spots in Patagonia

"I hiked from El Chaltén to Cerro Torre along a mostly flat but long 22km route that offers successive photo-ops and culminates at the lake before the famous mountain; Cerro Torre’s three continuous peaks are visually unique and draw skilled rock climbers, making the whole trek memorable." - Matthew Kepnes

Excellent hikking, is a must if you are in the area. I would say that after the Fitz Roy is the most beautiful and amazing hike I did in Argentina Took us aproximately 7h go and back. Easy hike for most of the people if you are a bit fit. Just at the beginning and at the end has a bit of a hill but most of the walk is easy. Totally recommended.

Cerro Torre is an iconic peak in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field, located on the border between Argentina and Chile. Standing at 3,128 meters (10,262 feet). The peak, named "Cerro Torre" in honor of the Spanish term for "tower," is famed for its extreme weather conditions and complex ice formations. It has a reputation for being one of the most difficult climbs in the world due to its fierce winds, technical rock and ice faces, and unpredictable weather.

I loved this place. The hike is way easier than Laguna the los tres. I really loved the way the glaciar and the icebergs are all over the lake. It looks stunning. Yo can walk around the lake, sit and enjoy your food or a beverage.

Quite easy trail, mostly flat until the lagoon. But personal opinion, not worth it to walk pass the intersection with laguna Madre if you cannot see the Mount Torres. The lagoon is brown, and not much to see if it’s cloudy.

I saw HIM for the first time rising from a cloud from Mirador Torre and found myself literally pinned down. Almost obscene in its elegance, force and beauty. And for the average alpinist at the same time a massive provocation: there it is, and of course I want to go up there - and I know exactly that this is beyond my capabilities.

Stunning peak, we are fortunate to have great weather to see this incredible peak

A shorter trek from El Chalten running approximately 9km in length (one way). The terrain is mostly flat with a few gradual ascents. This is an excellent alternative to the track running to fitz roy, especially if the weather isn’t particularly favorable. The views are stunning and it’s surreal to see the prices of broken ice floating around the lake.

Absolutely stop here if you're in town to see Fitz Roy. A huge glacier sits at the foot of this prominent tower mountain. Better yet, spend a few days backpacking through the many picturesque trails in this park. Even if you get rained on, it will be worth it.
