"Oxapampa Village Oxapampa might be best described as a German village transported to the middle of the high jungle. It was founded in the mid-1800s when 10,000 colonists from central Europe came to the Americas in search of a better future. This mix of cultures in a exotic landscape makes it an interesting destination. Once you get there, you find a small village (that seems to be taken from a fairy tale), where the food is great and the people are welcoming. The waterfalls and beautiful green countryside make the surrounding area perfect for hiking and camping. Oxapampa is a ten hour bus trip from Lima – no flights available for coming here."
