Le Chalet 1864 (Le Grand Bornand, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This five-room luxury boutique hotel is exactly what you’d expect from a place called Chalet 1864: an original Savoyard chalet, now a century and a half old, whose timeless atmosphere and perfect coziness remain untroubled by the addition of contemporary furniture and artworks. The four bedrooms are luxurious enough, with Bose sound systems and Le Labo bath products, and the Suite Aravis, occupying the old barn, is a two-bedroom suite with a fireplace and some spectacular mountain views. Also present: a spa with a heated indoor pool and hammam, as well as the guests-only Table 1864. Guidance is available for everything from guided walks to heli-skiing." - Tablet Hotels

This was our third stay at Chalet 1864, proving that it is a great destination both in summer and winter. The rustic farmhouses offer a staying-with-friends atmosphere coupled with a high level of comfort and serene spa. The staff is dedicated to the well-being of its guests. The Aravis suite with fireplace is almost a private chalet in itself and is highly recommended for a group or two couples.

This is the kind of place that you hesitate to review because you would prefer it to stay a well-kept secret. Authentic farm house with loads of charm turned into boutique hotel with high level of comfort and attention to every detail. The spa is exquisite. Super friendly hosts who provide a warm and private atmosphere. Perfect for a romantic get-away.

Our last minute stay in this charming place was a blessing. We stay with our two young children and everything was organized so that we have a perfect stay. Dinner was always tasty and balanced and adapted to the taste of our kids, we were driven to the bottom of the chair lift to be on time for the kids ski lessons and they even organized our ski lessons with ESF thanks to their network, even though everything was fully booked. The pool area just below our room had a wonderful and romantic view of the stars in the evening and enables rest for the following day. ||Peggy is a passionate manager and take care of her staff and of her customers with the same respect and dedication. ||As I wish to reserve for next season it is only fair to share our enthusiasm about Chalet 1864. ||All the best for your next stay there

Recently stayed here with a group of friends to celebrate a big birthday. If you are looking for understated class and authentic glamour then this is the place for you. An old farm, sensitively transformed in to 5 rooms and a spa and a restaurant in separate buildings with little paths lit by candles in between them. ||Our rooms were big, spotlessly clean, private terrace. Beautiful open bathroom so make sure you are comfortable with your room mate! The spa has an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub, sun loungers with incredible Mountain View’s and offers treatments - we had a massage which was amazing. ||The restaurant has lots of small rooms so it feels intimate even if the hotel is full. The food is amazing - our dietary requirements were well catered for including providing a delicious birthday cake. They did a fantastic job of serving the buffet with social distancing and hygiene by serving you according to your choice. ||The host, Peggy, is so lovely and gave us lots of great advice in advance about the area and hikes etc. ||Amazing service, location and I can’t wait to return.

We have spent one night from Friday to Saturday in a separate little house Mazot. It has two levels with a main bedroom and a bathroom on the main flour, and extra 2 twin beds in a smaller room downstairs. The house was great, everything is new, clean, very tastefully decorated in the traditional Chalet style. The dinner and breakfast were delicious, and even a bit too much food :). The hotel staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. The most important is that the area is absolutely quiet and you can totally relax. We have spent all Saturday morning in the SPA where we were the only ones, and it was a totally relaxing and just outstanding experience.

We stayed as a couple in the Suite Aravis. Exceptionally beautiful decorated. The large Suite has also a second room which is great so we will come back with our children.||This place is more of a hotel than simple B&B - its a true mountain hideaway. The location in the very end of a valley, yet with great lights and stunning mountain views, its the ultimate escape. We enjoyed especially the great food of Chef Didier, the cosy salon/living room and the Spa. A large indoor pool with outside deck and Jacuzzi. The Winter must be magical. Thanks to all the lovely team!

We spent a wonderful week end at the Chalet 1864. This place offers a combination of comfort, exclusivity, excellent food, calm and serenity. The room we stayed in was superb with a fireplace in the living room area and great music sound system. The bedroom offers a great|sitting/reading area next to the window with a view of the mountains. The service is top notch super helpful yet very discrete. This place is simply a jewel which i highly recommend.

This is a very intimate, authentic chalet. Beautifully positioned -it is the last building along the road into the valley and offers great views on the opposite mountain where you can see the chamois coming down in the early evening. Maybe more important: the service is very personal and the food is outstanding (but beware of these oudated 50's songs which are played in the background) . Hiking trails start a few hundred meters from the hotel (both short and all day/ multi day options). Another perk is the beautiful wellness facility.
