Do not stay here, for so many reasons.
This is not a five-star hotel, and it is severely overpriced for what you get. We were excited to stay here — we’re vegan and have onion and dairy allergies — and chose this place specifically because their website said they had vegan options and could accommodate all allergies. That was not our experience. Here are the major issues:
Food & Allergy Safety
The food was consistently disappointing. Vegan dinner options were basic — pasta, couscous — and completely lacking in protein. Breakfast was soy yogurt and fruit. We asked for tofu, and they made plain sautéed tofu squares once, but after that, we had to request tofu with every meal. At this price point, there should be thoughtful, protein-inclusive vegan options automatically.
Worse, we repeatedly told staff about our allergies to onions and dairy. Despite this, we were served dinner labeled “no onions” that clearly had onions, which made me sick. I had to start digging through every dish before eating. They also served dairy in one of the “vegan” meals, which made my partner sick as he is allergic to dairy. They knew about both allergies — we told them multiple times — but clearly weren’t careful.
At lunch, the experience was equally frustrating. It was a buffet with soups and pasta served by a chef. We asked about ingredients — specifically onions — and he ignored us completely, repeating “tomatoes or meat?” and then shooed us away, saying “go find someone else.” No one else was around. This was completely unacceptable behavior from any hotel staff, let alone the chef at a so-called luxury property. Surely a chef should know what’s in the food prepared.
And for dessert? There were no vegan options at “cake hours”. So that was just off the table. And dinner was just a scoop of sorbet a night, they should be different each night based on the “quality” this hotel claims to be. Non vegans had multiple options per night.
Cleanliness & Flies
There were flies everywhere — in the rooms, the dining areas, the spa, and worst of all, the gym. We couldn’t get through a single workout without being swarmed. At least five flies would be crawling on us at any given moment, with more buzzing around our faces. This happened multiple times. It was absolutely disgusting and made parts of the hotel genuinely unusable.
Staff & Management
Some staff were kind — one receptionist in particular listened to our concerns about the food and the fly problem and even reached out to the owners. But the owners’ response? Nothing. No apology. No explanation. No attempt to make things right. It was basically, “Too bad. Deal with it.” That’s all we needed — some acknowledgment — and they couldn’t even offer that.
As mentioned, the chef’s behavior at lunch was also shocking — refusing to answer allergy questions and then waving us off like we were a nuisance.
Spa
A heads-up: this is a fully nude, mixed-gender spa, which they do not make clear enough when booking. This should be much more clearly communicated in advance.
They Cut Corners Everywhere
You’re paying over $1,000 USD per night, and yet:
* Water costs €6.50.
* You buy wine at the hotel, bring it to dinner, and they charge a corkage fee.
* No protein in vegan meals unless begged for.
* Pathetic vegan dessert.
This kind of nickel-and-diming is insulting at this price point.
AC
There was no AC in rooms, it was constantly muggy and hot without the patio door open, and that furthered the fly problem. Understand AC isn’t a given in Italy, however shouldn’t it be at a luxury five star resort?
In Summary
Yes, views were nice, massages were good. A few staff were kind. But overall, this hotel is overpriced, allergy-unsafe, and poorly run. We felt like outsiders at a place with cult-like energy — unwelcome, yet they were happy to take our money.
There are better hotels in the area for less. Save yourself the stress. This place isn’t worth it.
Apologies I had to repost this review from the correct email.
