My flight to New Zealand was cancelled due to severe weather warnings, and no alternative flights were available. This was completely beyond my control, yet the Chalet Hotel still charged me for the full three nights of my booking. A one-night cancellation fee would have been understandable, but charging for all three nights is unreasonable and feels like pure greed. When I contacted the hotel, the staff showed no flexibility, understanding, or empathy — their attitude was essentially “too bad.” I have stayed at many hotels over the years and have never experienced such dismissive treatment. Because of this experience, I will never stay here again and strongly recommend that others look elsewhere.

We had a fantastic stay, and our host, Shashank, was instrumental in making it so comfortable and welcoming! The personalized à la carte breakfast was a wonderful highlight, perfectly catered to our tastes each morning. Our room was impeccably clean, and the view from it was absolutely excellent. A truly wonderful experience that we highly recommend!"

Really enjoyed our stay here. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful throughout. The room was clean and comfortable with good amenities and an excellent view. The breakfast area was very nice and more resembled a boutique hotel. Breakfast quality was fabulous. Strongly recommend this chalet!

I had my flight to New Zealand cancelled — completely out of my control — and the Chalet Hotel still charged me for the full three days. They were not helpful in the slightest, showed zero understanding or care, and basically told me “too bad.” I’ve never experienced such inflexible, dismissive treatment from a hotel. I will never stay here again and strongly recommend others avoid it.

We had booked 2 double room for 2 nights during a holiday with our friends. And we had specifically chosen this hotel due to its high rating both for the rooms and for the breakfast. The hotel claims that all rooms have views, understood sea view and comfortable. We got a room that most looked liked and funktioned as a 'garage' at the ground floor, a kind of double room with an extra bed, resulting in no space at all to put lugage or move around. The view was at the cars parken just outside our windows, with guests coming and going, quarrelling at our so-called veranda at night, looking directly into our room, so we had to keep the curtains closed the whole time. There was no willingness to give us a better room or negotiate a refund due to 'false advertisement.' Breakfast was OK. But this is not a place that we can recommend as we dont agree to false and wrong advertisement!

This place is cute, the lady who checked us in was nice, it has a solid view, and is walkable to everything in Queenstown. But wow does it need noise isolation in the rooms. I'm laying in bed listening to our neighbor take a shower right now and it literally feels like I'm in a metal box during a rain storm. Any time a door opens in the hallway, it squeaks and the entire floor can hear it. And if someone is having a hushed conversation in the hallway, you can hear every word. Throw in that the bathroom fan doesn't look like it's been cleaned in 5 years, and I can't recommend this place.

So glad we stayed here. Deborah is a great host, making us feel so welcome. The room was very comfy and cosy, and with a short walk into town it is in a fab location. Highly recommend staying here.

Booked to stay at the Chalet Queenstown in winter when it was a bit quieter. A winter storm blew in and slowed traffic over the pass to Queenstown, delaying my arrival. The manager was quite kind and stayed up late to greet me and get me settled. Big thanks for that. The room was comfortable with a compact yet comfortable bathroom. One feature I loved was a door that opened onto a wrap-around balcony facing the lake. What a view! The Chalet Queenstown is located a short walk from downtown. Queenstown is built on steep hills so you do have to climb a bit, but nothing that isn't manageable by anyone in average shape. This is a great, small, hotel that makes it easy to leave your vehicle and explore Queenstown on foot.
