Chalet Shiga offers a delightful stay in the heart of Shiga Kogen. The hotel’s prime location provides easy access to the ski slopes, making it a convenient choice for winter sports enthusiasts. The breakfast and dinner options are commendable; breakfast features a mix of Japanese and Western dishes, while dinner offers traditional Japanese cuisine, providing a satisfying end to a day on the slopes. The rooms, though clean and spacious, have a somewhat dated decor. However, the comfortable beds and cozy atmosphere make up for this minor drawback. The staff are friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant stay.

We just finished up a great stay at Chalet Shiga. We stayed in a traditional room which was fun for the kids. All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. The Head Ski Centre and Teppa Room bar down stairs were very convenient. The set meal dinners were great too! The location was convenient with a ticket office across the road and bus stop to/from Nagano less than 100 m away.

Great location, only a 100m from multiple chairlifts. The food was excellent, prepared and presented well. We felt so full after each meal. Rooms are clean and spacious by Japan standards. The staff are extremely nice and helpful.

We are a family of 5 excellent location to two sides of the mountain. Lovely atmosphere and onsen to relax. Ski rental shop and bar is downstairs which is very handy. Good breakfast and the set dinner menu was great noting there is little/no deviation from the set menu for any dietary requirements.

We are a family of 4 staying here with another family of 4 and its been the perfect ski chalet for our group. The location is fantastic - allowing quick and easy access to both sides of the mountain, also allowing for quick trips back to the room for those who need a break from skiing. The common areas on 2 and 3 allow for groups like ours to relax and hang out depending on our mood. The included meals have been excellent and we have been here 7 nights. We are regular skiers in Japan, with young kids under 10 and this is so far the only hotel/ski resort that ticks all our boxes. I would recommend it but not too loudly as we don't want the place to be overrun with people - it is perfect as it is, slightly under the radar.

Great location with easy access to the slopes (~2 mins walk), had dinner throughout our stay (5 nights) and was consistently good quality, rooms are pretty basic but did the job, shared baths were maintained clean, nicely renovated lobby area to have a coffee. Conveniently located ski rental store at the first floor and lockers. Make sure you keep your windows shut to keep the monkeys out (however you get a nice close up view of these monkeys from your window)

We are so glad we stayed at Chalet Shiga. We were here for 9 nights in a Japanese style room with breakfast and dinner included. The food and the service were fabulous, although if I stayed 9 nights again we might not include dinner as it is a very similar set menu each night. A very central location with easy access to the lifts at Ichinose as well as a bus stop close by. The Teppa Bar downstairs was also a great spot to have a local craft beer or sake after skiing/before dinner.

We loved our stay at shiga chalet, it had everything we wanted and the dinner especially was fantastic. Ichinose was probably our favourite part of shiga kogen too, right between access to the two halves of the major area.
