Chamarel Waterfall

Chamarel Waterfall was one of the places that really impressed me in Mauritius. The view of the water falling into a deep green valley looked powerful and calm at the same time. The whole area felt fresh because of the thick forest around it. I reached the lower viewpoint in a few steps from the parking area. The upper viewpoint was even better. The stairs were easy to use and they added a handrail, which helped a lot. Accessibility was decent. It can be a little tough for a ♿wheelchair because of the height, but still possible with support. Even in summer, the waterfall looked beautiful. I can imagine how strong and loud it becomes in the monsoon season. The sound of water and birds created a very peaceful environment. I really enjoyed that moment. The ticket is included with the Chamarel Seven Colored Earth. For foreigners it is around 650 MRU, and cheaper for local residents. If you are in Chamarel, this waterfall should be on your list. The views are clean, the place feels natural, and the visit stays in your memory.

After entering the ticket office/gate control, it takes about 2 -3 minutes drive to reach the waterfall carpark. A the waterfall is immediately next to the carpark. The are two observation decks at different height levels for people to watch the waterfall. It's told that locals are able to walk to the top of the waterfall, but tourists are not allowed to do the same

Visiting Chamarel Waterfall was truly one of the highlights of my trip to Mauritius. There is free parking available right near the viewpoint, making access hassle-free. After taking in the stunning scenery, you can also relax at nearby coffee shops and eateries just a short drive away, perfect for resting and enjoying some local flavors. In addition, near the waterfall, you can visit the tortoise nest and enclosure, where you’ll get a chance to see these gentle giants up close a unique and charming addition to your visit. If you're already exploring the nearby Seven Colored Earths, this is just a short walk or drive away and absolutely worth it. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or simply looking for a serene escape, Chamarel Waterfall is a place that will leave a lasting impression. I highly recommend adding it to your Mauritius itinerary it's a natural gem not to be missed!

Such a wonderful experience and a beautiful sight 😍 the hike was definitely worth it !!! Wear hiking shoes if you are not use to hiking !! It’s a bit steep :)

Crowds:As a popular attraction, it can get crowded, especially during peak tourist season. Mosquitoes: It's advisable to bring mosquito repellent due to the lush surroundings. In short, Chamarel Waterfalls is a must-see in Mauritius, offering breathtaking views of a powerful and tall waterfall in a beautiful natural setting, often combined with a visit to the unique Seven Coloured Earth. There is an Entry fee of 800 MUR per Person. There is ample car parking available

It's a nice view point with a waterfall its a nice stop if your on your way to other places but to do this as one thing its in my opinion not worth it

The waterfalls were just amazing. I'd read the reviews which said they were good, but I wasn't prepared for quite how astonishing they are, the sinkhole they drop into was like some thing out of an Indian Jones movie. Although we cycled there, there is tons of parking for cars and two decent viewpoints. My guidebook said it is as possible to take path down to the very bottom but I couldn't find that. I was relieved as it is a very, very long way down and up in the tropical heat. In theory you could see it for free on foot or by bike, but it is included in the seven coloured earth geoparkentrance ticket and it feel really cheapskate to avoid paying that as it supports the park. Highly recommended for any visitor to Mauritius.
