Friday night we tried Chambers Hill for the first time, specifically for their fish fry. They had a ton of options, but we went with the deep fried haddock and cod nuggets. Of course, our daughter spotted the white cheese curds on the menu and that decision was made immediately.
Before dinner, we ordered their hand-muddled old fashioneds, which were excellent, exactly what you want with a Friday night fish fry.
The cheese curds came with fries and were fantastic. I know people say “they’re just cheese curds,” but these were everything you hope for, squeaky, salty, stretchy, with a perfectly crunchy breading. Easily some of the best cheese curds we’ve had.
The deep fried haddock was a large, hand-breaded piece of fish. It was just slightly overcooked, but the breading was well-seasoned and the thickness was spot on.
The cod nuggets were fried beautifully. The fish was flaky and buttery, and we ordered them with baby red potatoes, which were so good we took the leftovers home.
Our server, Kathy, was absolutely a highlight of the night. She treated us like old friend, so personable and genuinely hilarious.
We will absolutely be back for their fish fry, and on Sundays they offer a broasted chicken dinner, which we definitely want to try next.
