Chambres d'hôtes "à gauche du Pont" du Gard

France only got 10 gold medals at the 2016 Olympics but if there was a category for Breakfast then Veronique & Fabien would have taken that tally to 11. Put simply, it was the best breakfast I had during my fortnight in France and that alone is enough to warrant 5 stars. Veronique & Fabien are fantastic, welcoming hosts. The accomodation was superb; clean, calm and charming. It's a short stroll into the lovely little town and a 40-minute walk to Pont du Gard, along a picturesque Roman path. I really enjoyed my time there. Go, you won't regret it!

In September, 2017, we stayed for 5 nights at a Gauche du Pont. It was our first trip to Provence and the first time we have stayed at a French-owned bed and breakfast and it will definitely not be our last time to stay there! Fabien and Veronique are incredible hosts, anticipating our every need. When we arrived late on a Sunday afternoon, Veronique wanted to make sure that we had reservations for dinner at a nice restaurant, so she helped us select one from the choices available and made the reservations for us. Petit dejeuner was served outside on our lovely patio and the food was “formidable”! There were always fresh fruits from their garden—peaches, grapes, etc., and also almonds from their almond tree. The homemade jams and caramel sauce were delicious! When we would go out for the day we would come back to a lovely platter of grapes, both red and white, from their grape arbor for us to enjoy. My French is very minimal and my husband, thanks to lessons he has been taking, is a little more adept, so he really enjoyed practicing his conversational French. Fabien and Veronique both speak a little English as well, so we had no problems at all! It was an amazing experience to be submerged in the French culture of a small village—the perfect setting—away from the crowds, but close enough to see important sites and cities. They were always ready to help with directions and make suggestions on what to see as our time was limited and we feel that we only scratched the surface of the area. Fabien is an avid cyclist and runner and took my husband on 3 runs and a bike ride while we were there, which was very nice for him to have the company and be shown the ways to go. The property itself, besides being in the perfect location, is lovely. Our room was more than adequate and comfortable for the two of us for our stay and we are thinking of possibly renting the self-contained gite that is available in the future for a longer stay. There is a beautiful pool, although this trip we just didn’t have time to make use of it. I cannot say enough about the hospitality that we received—we felt as though we had made 2 new special friends—and definitely look forward to going back in the next couple of years!

A wonderful sanctuary in an old village near the Pont du Gard. Fabien and his wife are excellent hosts. The rooms are nicely decorated and super clean. Fabien even took us on a early morning hike to the Pont. A perfect tour guide too. Visit à gauche du pont if you want to relax by the pool or start exploring Nîmes etc from this superb location. Hope to visit soon again.

This was one of the more memorable and wonderful parts of our trip...an amazing hike to see roman ruins in the woods with Fabien, picking wild herbs and seeing the Pont before the crowds descended. Also a lovely breakfast and great location. You will be so glad you stayed here.

We spent 4 days here. Fabien and Veronique were extremely welcoming offering suggestions for us re cycling, canoeing, restaurants and the Nimes's arena. Breakfasts were eagerly consumed. And we had a great last night in the village square "dancing" to the band. Great 4 days.

Amazing place in a beautiful village. Rooms were wonderful - quiet, spacious and tastefully furnished - and Fabien and Veronique were the perfect hosts. Breakfast was amazing, too!

We had a very nice moment in this lovely place near UZES last summer 2018 in august ! The Host are very nice, location is great ! Beautiful place very clean and very romantic !! Thanks Fabien and your wife ;) see you soon Jonathan and Sarah

Wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad bij A Gauche de Pont! Het ligt in een leuke plaats met een gezellig barretje naast een mooi Frans pleintje. Het complex zelf ligt binnen een prachtig ommuurde tuin met als extra een fijn zwembad. Véronique en Fabien kwamen met goede tips, hielpen bij het maken van reserveringen en zorgden elke dag voor een heerlijk Frans ontbijt met elke ochtend wat anders. Als je kan, ga dan vooral met Fabien 's ochtends vroeg op pad naar Pont-du-Gard, een bijzondere ervaring! Het was ons beste verblijf tot nu toe in Frankrijk en dat kwam vooral door de uitzonderlijke gastvrijheid van Véronique en Fabien! Wij hopen ooit terug te keren naar deze heerlijke plek.
