We had the most delightful stay at Ferme Elhorga. The location was perfect for us - quiet, private, close to St. Jean de Luz and the Basque villages we planned to visit, with an incredible view of the countryside. They have thought of everything: a well-equipped kitchen for guests to use, chairs, chaises and tables scattered throughout the property to enjoy the views or a quiet moment, a gorgeous swimming pool (with a sunscreen lotion "bar!"), a plancha that the gracious owner showed my husband how to use, umbrellas to borrow for rainy days, a washing machine, and an amazing breakfast every morning. They also have put together a very comprehensive notebook (in French and English) of restaurants, activities and things to see in the area. We were free to use it during our stay and found it to be invaluable. There are so many things we would have otherwise missed. But most of all, Ferme Elhorga has the most amazing staff, unfailingly friendly, patient, helpful and cheerful. If we are in the area again, we will not hesitate to book Ferme Elhorga or enthusiastically recommend it to our friends.

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast set on the hillside with great views. Staff are very helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Common lounge and kitchen for guests to use. Lots of advice on places to eat and visit. An ideal find, thank you Sawdays.

There's lots to love - but mainly its the outside swimming pool and garden area which is really well tended and looks great ! The breakfasts are really amazing with lovely produce and generous helpings and the accommodation, if you stay in the b&b part for a few nights with its inside lounge and outside dedicated seating area, from all the posted reviews, your experience would be great..||We however stayed in a gite for a week which was well equipped though not particularly spacious and with unseasonably poor weather was not that great to stay in on rainy evenings... Yes, and the sloping ceilings were really height restrictive, the staircase was steep and narrow and the toilet was downstairs....not ideal.||The staff, especially Maggie, were friendly and helpful, the surrounding area is really attractive, dining out anywhere is Michelin quality without the associated cost and the recommendations of restaurants and places to visit is excellent !||All very good- apart from the gite and the weather !

Ideally located in a quiet rural environment but in close proximity to quaint Basque villages and all the Atlantic oceans, we could not have picked a better location to immerse ourselves in the Basque country. Julie and her team are simply amazing. The bedroom was well appointed, the breakfast simply spectacular (from the home baked pastries to the local cheese or local charcuterie plates or the detox juice) and grounds pristine. Our 6-night trip went by in a flash and we had a couple of great dinners in the area thanks to Julie's recommendation. The little guide that she and Pierre provided for the area proved to be priceless and really helped us make the best of our trip. Next time we come to the area, we know we are coming back!

We had an amazing stay here late July 2018 - me and my 16 year old daughter. We booked very late which meant we had to move rooms half way through our stay but that wasn't an issue, just meant we saw more of the lovely property. The rooms, common areas and pool are all exceptional quality, just stunning. Our hosts were charming, helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The breakfasts were brilliant - anything we wanted was made available. A lovely touch is the booklet on local highlights that they've produced. You will need a car as the property isn't walking distance to shops, but you'll want to explore the local area anyway. I'd highly recommend this property and look forward to returning at some point.

This was a big treat for us after a busy holiday - we wanted somewhere quiet and relaxing and decided to splash out at somewhere with a touch of luxury. Ferme Elhorga did not disappoint! We had a wonderful couple of days here. ||The pool, gardens and glossy magazines kept us entertained and the breakfasts were outstanding. Our room was a little small for a family of 3 but we managed - we loved the quirky decor, big TV and moving beds!||All the communal areas are stunning and wonderfully lit by candles in the evening. It felt like you were in a very special place.||Pierre and Julie are lovely hosts and made us feel very welcome. ||We were travelling without a car which was fine for a couple of days (there is a supermarket about 25 mins walk away) but if you stayed longer you would need your own transport as it is quite rural. We were able to buy some nice bread, cheeses, salads, wine etc and prepare our meals in the guest kitchen.||Pierre was very kind and drove us to our bus stop in Biarritz when we left - a true gentleman.||This is the perfect place to stay if you want a touch of luxury and a peaceful time.||We will save up and hope to visit again sometime - would love to see how the new kitchen/breakfast room looks like!||Many thanks Pierre and Julie for making the final days of our Basque holiday so memorable.

The bed is extremely uncomfortable although the setting is beautiful. We made reservations on Expedia because we wanted to be able to cancel and the hotel's policy was inflexible. When we arrived, one of the rooms had a ceiling so low that you'd have to be incredibly short or a child to be comfortable. It was also smaller. No one told us that would be the case. And when we asked, we were told we booked it numerous times. We didn't on Expedia, and yes, a misunderstanding, but we were told that this was our fault. I don't write bad reviews but this wasn't something I'd want someone else to go through without being aware of the downside.

WONDERFUL bed and breakfast in a beautiful, peaceful location! Our only regret was we only booked one night here. The B&B is definitely off the beaten path so this is a place to go if you need to recharge from a hectic travel schedule, preferably for more than one night so you can enjoy the pool and grounds. Definitely enter the address into your gps, as we would have never found it without Google maps. Though in the beautiful, bucolic French Basque region (meaning very small villages), good restaurants including Michelin starred ones, are everywhere, and the hosts have made a book of their recommendations in the area. Breakfast was delicious with many different options available, several locally sourced. The owners, Julie and Pierre, and their assistant (I can not remember her name) were very helpful and kind with our simple attempts to speak French. The restaurant recommended by Pierre (La Terrasse) was reasonably priced and delicious! They have 2 well behaved young children who added a fun energy to the B&B, so this really is a "family run" B&B with the owners living on site. I would love to stay here again...next time for more than one night!
