Yelp
A once in a lifetime experience, living in a medieval storybook home, right next to Our Lady of Mary church and Lover's Bridge.
The owner, David, an artist, is warm, welcoming and outgoing character. He spent time going over the map of the city, highlighting special restaurants and attractions - of which there are many. And, I am glad we listened to him --one night we didn't and it was a mistake.
Back to the B and B - IF you are looking for a flat screen TV, room service and a new bed, this is NOT for you. IF however, you are looking for the most unique experience, then stay here.
The breakfast is a 3 course gourmet feast that David prepares himself. The fruit is fresh and cut up, with various nuts, yoghurt and dried fruit. Course 1. Then course 2 was an egg dish that were so flavorful with a lovely presentation. There was a sandwich as well for those used to a more traditional European breakfast. We wrapped ours up for lunch as there was no way possible to eat this. A little sweet for dessert along with tasty coffee. One morning we had champagne! Freshest squeezed orange juice We also had a warm fire going throughout.
The downside - it is OLD. Medieval. So the insulation isn't great and conversations can be heard and footsteps as well as floors creak. We were in the middle floor so we did have people above us and conversations were downstairs below us. I use earplugs which helped somewhat but not completely. BUT - it is quiet on the outside as the cars are not allowed to drive at night close to the house after a certain hour.
The mattress needs to be replaced - I don't love springs in my back.
I say this in the interest of full disclosure, however, I still feel this is a once in a lifetime experience and loved it!!
