My friend Cathy and I are both wine industry and we had such a blast wine tasting at Chamisal. Our server was Tim and he went above and beyond our expectations! I loved his natural sense of what to talk about and I left with something I didn't know about wine before. The wines were great! They have food options so you don't have a taste on an empty stomach. Cathy and I were there for 3 hours and every minute was enjoyed.

Our friends took us here at the last minute and they know all of the wineries very well and they were a little bit shocked at the $40 per wine tasting price. The wines were OK and the server really did not seem to know or care much about the wines beyond some stock phrases. Noticed that the tar odor from the old phone poles was getting pretty intense at end of day.

Another lovely day in Edna valley but an extra special visit to Chamisal winery. Jacob was more than willing to share his knowledge and passion for the wine of Chamisal vineyards. Such a great time, great views and the most delicious wines. Highly recommend stopping by this tasting room!

A beautiful location with some delicious wine. We also had a Stepladder Creamery cheese board that paired well with their amazing Chardonnays. Gavin was very friendly and knowledgeable. Will be back soon 🥰

We had a great wine tasting experience. Chelsea was so welcoming and knowledgeable. We loved all the wines and highly recommend this winery. 🍷

The wine can get a bit spendy, but it's so good! We dropped by for a wine tasting on the recommendation of another local vineyard. The atmosphere is very laid back...the tasting room personnel (this day it was Guillaume) greeted us warmly and offered to bring our wine out to the patio. We chose a table with a view of the vineyards and enjoyed a sunny afternoon watching the hummingbirds and sipping our wine. Beautiful day, gorgeous views, and friendly service. The wines are, of course, spectacular.

Upon the glowing recommendation of some SLO locals, we made it our initial vineyard stop in the area, and it proved to be an exceptional choice. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by Tim and the staff. Tim's expertise elevated the wine tasting to an unforgettable journey through flavors and terroirs. What truly set him apart was his intuitive sense of when to engage with us and when to give us the space to savor the moment, all while maintaining an effortlessly friendly demeanor. The team went above and beyond by graciously offering to take our photos and even brought us a delicious charcuterie board. It was a personalized, unforgettable experience curated by someone who truly understands the art of hospitality. If you're seeking not just great wines but a genuine connection to the place and its people, this vineyard is an absolute must-visit.

With the help of the amazing events mgr Brooke Serafine I booked this spectacular setting and charming winery for a rehearsal dinner and wow! Everything exceeded my expectations and the guests are still raving! Thank you to our amazing hostesses for the evening Chelsea & Barbara - you are rock stars!

Yelp
After breakfast by the beach it was time for some wine! We made reservations and came to enjoy. They have a lovely outside seating area, right near the vines. Our host was great! She leaned what our pallets preferred and brought a few "bonus" tastings to match that. She was spot on with her direction, so much so that we ended up buying the bottles she directed us too! Was such a fun afternoon sipping wine and enjoy the view!

Bre R.

Yelp
Small tasting room. Pretty ambiance & view of the vines. $40 tasting fee is TOO HIGH for the experience and the setting. We are return customers & had a disappointing day. We already love their whites, made the mistake of purchasing two flights seated outside. We should have asked for a counter tasting - a couple glasses. It took sooo long ! We appreciate the history, the terroirs, the valley. The gentleman Tim served and did a great job for us, but he just didn't have any help with the 4 or 5 parties being served. We love their whites and Pinot. Will not come again to taste though.

Yelp
This was our first time at a vineyard winery since we are not big wine drinkers! Gavin was awesome and very knowledgeable which made the experience better for us! The patio was clean and relaxing! We will be back!

Anissa R.

Yelp
I can't say enough kind words about Chamisal! We came here one early afternoon on a Thursday with a prior reservation and loved it! The grounds are gorgeous and the tasting was a blast! Our sommelier was also kind, attentive, and so informative. She answered all of our questions and even suggested a dinner spot for us to try. We're well versed in wine (being so close to Napa Valley, we go there often) and we also love SLO wine! I have to say, the white wines DOMINATE in SLO! Be sure to try Chamisal's Chardonnays! I'm a chard girl myself and loved every drop! 10/10 would recommend!

Foodie B.

Yelp
Dog friendly and outstanding wines. We love visiting whenever we are in town. Had an amazing time with their Chardonnay. I'm not a huge oaky Chardonnay fan but they make all kinds which are fantastic and something for everyone's palate! Also, love love love their Pinot!! Everything from the retail wine to their higher end Califa line. We bought a little of everything and look forward to our next visit!

Julie S.

Yelp
We visited Chamisal this afternoon for a wine tasting. We were greeted by Tim a gregarious host. We sat on comfy couches facing the Vineyard in glorious sunshine. We told Tim we would like to share a flight and he said that was not a problem. He personally brought out five different wines for us to taste. He spent time chatting with us and explained the different wines. He gave us plenty of time to sample and enjoy each one. They were all excellent. Tim turned what could have been a quick stop at a Vineyard into a delightful afternoon. I cannot recommend more highly to stop by if you are in the area. It was an excellent experience!! Thank you Tim!!!

Yelp
3.5 Stars Several Flights to choose from: Estate Flight $35/person, Signature Reserve Flight $65/person, Anniversary Flight, and wines by the glass for $12 - $18. They also offer a couple different tasting room food bites. Small, rustic winery building with a large covered outdoor patio offering views of the vineyards. Cole poured for our group of nine, and was friendly. It was a busy afternoon and times between pours were a little slow, so allow yourself plenty of time for your visit. It was nice that they allowed us to bring in our own picnic lunch, but I would suggest calling ahead and making sure it's okay to do so. We shared several of the tasting flights and found a few wines that we enjoyed. We purchased a Pinot Noir and a couple bottles of Chardonnay, including a 2018. Unfortunately, after we had paid and they started putting the orders together, they discovered that they were out of the 2018, and we would have to accept a 2019 instead. They did offer to provide a refund, but due to time constraints we had to make do. Personally, it was an "okay" experience, but I wouldn't rush back. I think the wines are well made, and I always recommend that you give them a try for yourself, as palates vary so much. Might be a better experience if you can visit on a weekday.

Lynn H.

Yelp
Love everything about this winery. But mostly their wine. The grounds are great, servers very knowledgeable.

Yelp
My wife and I joined their club last April in 2023 after belonging to another Edna Valley winery we weren't as thrilled on the wines on. Chamisal is definitely in the upper echelon of EV wineries when it comes to the quality of their wines, their space itself, and their staff. We always enjoy visiting their tasting room for member tastings & events and enjoy the aspect of their Malene brand Rose's being part of their operation. We also enjoy their cool climate pinot noir, greanche, and syrah to go along with their chardonnay and rose. Special shoutout to Tim who always is the most lively, friendly, and entertaining host in all of Edna Valley!

Nory B.

Yelp
Came for their Sunset Series on Thursday with wine and food truck and music on the patio from 5-7pm. Beautiful tasting room with a large outside patio with a panoramic view of the vineyards. The music was amazing, the food was smashburgers and tacos and chicken bowls--good balance to sipping wines. I was able to bring my dog (on a leash) and just chill on the patio and enjoy a beautiful sunset and rainbow before the flash storm. The next one is on October 17--definitely will come for that!

Daniela H.

Yelp
Took my friends who were visiting here because we saw the great reviews and they did not disappoint! Super knowledgeable on the wine and we were able to bring our own food! The other food options they had seemed super great too and i would love to try them next time!!! The ambiance was super calming and relaxing & my girls and I had a great time. Thank you!!!

Joanna H.

Yelp
I loved the open outdoor seating they had. It was a very relaxing wine tasting experience since we went on a warm, sunny afternoon. We had Devin (apologies if the spelling is incorrect) pour for us and she was great throughout our entire tasting. Very well spaced out between pours as we like to take our time with our tastings (relatively soon after we finished each wine). We didn't bring food but saw another party that brought a feast of a picnic to pair with their tastings which was fun. I also loved how they provided a map of the different areas where they grow their grapes.

Melina A.

Yelp
Visited the Chamisal Vineyards during my 5 year anniversary trip. I am recently 21 and lack any knowledge of wine. I was scared for my first wine tasting because I did not want to be judged. However, I walked in and was immediately greeted with kindness. The girl who took me through the tasting was so sweet, constantly giving me all the information possible on each wine. The views were perfect and it was very peaceful. Other people were there just sitting and chatting. Hoping to bring my best friend next time. 10/10 recommend.

Jennifer G.

Yelp
Are you a chardonnay hater like me? Well this place blew my socks off with one of their chardonnays! It was light, crisp, airy and refreshing! SOOO GOOD! We even took a few bottles home. The hospitality and views were also amazing. Highly recommend trying this winery, it was a fun stop on our way to Paso!

Elise A.

Yelp
Another lovely day in Edna valley but an extra special visit to Chamisal winery. Jacob was more than willing to share his knowledge and passion for the wine of Chamisal vineyards. Such a great time, great views and the most delicious wines. Highly recommend stopping by this tasting room!

Yelp
Really enjoyed our tasting with Tim - fun, laid back but great service and engaging Highly recommend the sparkling NV

Angela S.

Yelp
The staff was excellent. Great customer service! Their Pinot Noir was yummy! Dog friendly.

Yelp
we came last weekend to celebrate my birthday. we loved the atmosphere and the view. we were also able to bring food which saved us money (i would suggest calling ahead or looking at their website for days that you're not allowed to). the wines were good as well and we will definitely be back!

Mellissa J.

Yelp
We came to celebrate our 8th year anniversary. I had made reservations for us to get the bubbles and caviar. We came in and when we were seated I realized that there was only half of the patio uncovered on the sides so you can see the vineyard. I saw that there was an open table but we were told that it was reserved already. So we had no views at all. Then the hostess comes up to us and asks us what we would like. I was a bit confused because I had put what I wanted on our reservation and we weren't given any menus either. Since it was my first time if I hadn't reserved what I wanted I wouldn't know what they had. When we received our bubbles and caviar , the caviar came inside an oyster but with no ice in it to keep the caviar cold. Mind you it was warm that day. Unless u want to pay extra for a "view" I'd say go ahead other than that just drive to Temecula there is better vineyards, better views, and a better selection.

Hattie K.

Yelp
My mom and I visited here on a Monday afternoon and Jacob was so amazing and attentive. He is extermely knowledgeable about viticulture yet expresses it in a very approachable way for all backgrounds. He made our experience truly special. I would 100% recommend visiting to enjoy the amazing wine, views, and knowledge of the staff.

Nichole S.

Yelp
Quick stop here before heading back to our hotel. Arrived near closing, not able to do any tours or packages. Grabbed a couple bottle and sat outside to gorgeous views and crisp weather. Staff was friendly and helpful. Let us try three different wines before purchasing two.

Laura G.

Yelp
This is an updated review (my first was quite scathing); however, after a personal message from the winery to address our experience, I feel comfortable recommending this winery. The grounds are stunning and the wines are nice. The upper-end, quality wines have good complexity and are well rounded. Overall, a nice place for a SLO wine country visit.

Kriste M.

Yelp
Beautiful location, excellent service and knowledge of the wine. We had Macie as our wine host. She was so hospitable and knowledgeable. We will return to this gem of a location!

Gabriela R.

Yelp
Went tasting with my girls and had the most incredible experience at Chamisal. First off, the stunning views captivated us and set the tone for the tasting. Devan our wonderful pourer was extremely knowledgeable and took the best care of us! We will be back.

Macie J.

Yelp
Wonderful experience! Had a great time with friends, service and ambiance was amazing, even with unexpected rain!

Christie S.

Yelp
Wow what an amazing vineyard tour we had with Jacob! He was so informative and friendly. And the views/wine/cheese board were to die for. Would highly recommend!!!

Claire L.

Yelp
Tim was so wonderful and gave us a very immersive experience. He educated us on the wine and was super conversational and overall a positive person to have around. 10/10 recommend!! And the wine was DELICIOUS!

Charlie R.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time at our estate patio wine tasting. Chamisal is dog friendly and even provided a treat for our pup. The tasting menu was excellent and I absolutely recommend this winery if you're a fan of Chardonnay. In addition, the winery had a food truck with sushi bowls plus a lovely gift shop. I highly recommend making a reservation as they seemed extremely busy and keep strictly to your allotted time. They also served a Rose tasting from their sister winery Malene. Delicious wine overall and only drawback is not waiving the tasting fee even if you buy bottles. We knew this going in so it didn't impact my overall star rating. Beautiful vineyard and tasting room.

Gabriel V.

Yelp
A great place to have an amazing moment. We went there in a 7 people group and all of us enjoyed so so much. I could not forget Julie and Jaco, they made sure we were happy. Jacob is the Assistant Tasting Room Manager and he knows a lot, so if he is there, you are in luck.

Kylie W.

Yelp
My friend and I came to Chamisal today for a Monday afternoon wine tasting. She had never been, and I had been multiple times prior; for both of us, it was the best, most immersive wine-tasting experience. We got so much advice, special tidbits, and even got to taste grapes off the vines themselves!! Ask for Tim, he's the best there is. Love love LOVE this winery and these servers.

Christine W.

Yelp
Wonderful Chardonnay they have at least 5 different, staff is very friendly and ambiance is beautiful, it was a bit chilly on patio and they have blankets to use

Joey C.

Yelp
Everything was great there, good vibe / scenery and help from all of the sommeliers. Thanks

Serina L.

Yelp
I believe Chamisal is currently only taking reservations right now. We made reservations online on their website a few days before and were easily able to make a reservation for a Saturday morning. They have free parking right in front of the vineyard and you are greeted by the hostess when you arrive. Everyone here was extremely friendly and the service was exceptional. We arrived a few minutes late but no problem, they were able to get us seated within a few minutes. They have their tastings outdoors and the ambience is perfect. It is quiet, chilled, and the weather was perfect -- warm and sunny! We booked the Estate Patio experience and it came with 5 tastings. It included 3 pinot noirs and 2 chardonnays. Chamisal specializes in these two wines here on their vineyard. The wine was all amazing, and I loved the selection they provided. A table next to us opened a glass of rose so we were able to get a complimentary tasting of that too, which was nice. Our server Gemma checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing all right. The vineyard itself is very quaint, and the estate patio experience overlooks the beautiful vineyard. The vibe at Chamisal is pretty casual, but if you want to dress cute it's up to you! :) The estate itself is compact as it is a smaller vineyard. Chamisal prices their tastings at $30 which is significantly higher than nearby vineyards which are only around $20/25. However, you can waive one tasting if you buy 2 bottles of wine.

Barbee S.

Yelp
Fabulous experience, excellent wine, Julie was a great wine guide...attentive, informative and accommodating of our very early arrival. The cheese and fruit plate was a great addition. A beautiful view and perfect weather. Glad we joined their wine club.

Chloe S.

Yelp
Made a reservations the week of and was able to try the wine tasting menu on saturday. The atmosphere was beautiful, seated outside with a view if the vineyard very quaint and peaceful. All the staff was friendly and professional. The selcetions of wines were fantastic. It included 2 whites and 3 reds with one of the reds coming from their reserve. All the wines had a distinct flavor and aroma. Someone had opened up a bottle of rose and our table got to try a glass free of charge. Must say the chilled rose was divine. For 5 tastings $30 is quite steep compared to the vineyards in area. However, the selection of wines was quite unique.

Kelsey K.

Yelp
the service, the ambiance, and the atmosphere!! amazing time. it was an incredible time with my friends, and chamisal made the experience wonderful again

Stephani K.

Yelp
My husband, sister-in-law, and I took the vineyard tour. It was a lovely experience. Everyone made us feel welcome and showed enthusiasm that we were there. Jacob was informative and delightful. It was my first visit to a winery and it was beautiful, with very good wines.

Andrew B.

Yelp
With lots of wineries in the area you tend to stick with just a few to go wine tasting regularly. Recently a friend suggested that I give Chamisal a try. This winery is known for their Chardonnay and their Pinot Noirs. I generally do not go for white wines much but their Chardonnay(s) have a nice taste and balance without being too extreme with their flavors. They do have a beautiful view and the back patio is a great way to waste a few hours. The wine tasting fee at $35 is a bit steep for both the area overall. While good to try it once or with a member it seems to not balance with all the other aspects of the winery. I did enjoy the Pinot(s) and were my favorite of the group of wines. I will probably be back but with all our amazing wineries in the area it may be a while. Cheers

James R.

Yelp
Recently we decided to visit Chamisal, that was our best decision in a while... The staff could not have been better, friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and engaging. We got to enjoy a couple rare wines and honestly could not have had a better experience.

Cindy T.

Yelp
This vineyard was down the street from our air b&b with great review so we wanted to check it out. We were just being spontaneous and didn't have a plan and actually saw there were multiple parties there so we were sure if they would be able to accommodate us. They were so nice and we were able to get a table. The views as well as the wines were amazing. We were able to bring in some bbq to enjoy with our wine which was perfect. I will definitely be back if we come back to this area!

Nina S.

Yelp
Amazing wine. Beautiful atmosphere. And Jacob was the best! He was so knowledgeable about how the wines were made, the differing terroir contributing to varying levels of flavor and complexity, and was overall really fun to talk to! I love this winery. Definitely my favorite in Edna!

Icky C.

Yelp
I was very disappointed with our visit for wine tasting. We are new to the area and are trying to visit all the wineries. We took some visiting guests we had staying with us. The wines were great however they have a new policy that the only way to wave the wine tasting fee is to join their wine club. When wine tasting in the past if you purchased a few bottles of wine the fee would be waived, they sold wine & everybody wins. Bottom line - we did not join their wine club and we did not purchase any of their wines - to bad because I did rather enjoy their wines. It boils down to are we really expected to join every winery you taste at? Because of this policy we will not return for future tastings.

Elsa Bates B.

Yelp
Great customer service from Jacob, lovely environment and views. Very accessible from downtown SLO!

Vidyun S.

Yelp
We visited the vineyard on a Saturday afternoon and had an ok-ish experience. The vineyard itself is cute, very close to SLO downtown, and getting reservations was easy via tock. The place had a very country vibe to it. Our server was especially nice and super knowledgeable, it was quite fun to hear about how the wines are made and uniqueness of the soil from her. The wines itself were decent - we liked the whites more. The not so goods. The tasting came all at once, which isn't my preference since the temperature of the whites changes especially on a very hot day. The tasting portions were also exceptionally small. I also ordered a Charcuterie platter - it came in a cute box however, the platter was just not worth the price. It contained a brie, two slices of gouda and manchego, some pieces of salami, crackers, some nuts and dried apricots. It was missing a jam or spread to make it all come together, some variety of meats, and some decent crackers to justify the price. We did have a slightly odd experience with one thing. My husband and I went to take a photograph next to the vineyards, and took our glasses along. We were called back and told that we couldn't take our glasses to the vineyard area which we respected (we were told it's a rule). However, post that we saw several groups step out with their glasses and take pictures exactly where we were attempting to (right in front of the servers), so we just found it to be odd that we were being differentiated. Not the best feeling to be honest.

Vicki L.

Yelp
Great service! Lovely rose. Relaxed atmosphere. Excellent staff. Nice grounds. Easy parking.

Marina H.

Yelp
The place is amazing. Everything there is good, wine, food, plantation and people. We had an amazing white wine and we ate as well, all perfect.

Christian S.

Yelp
Absolutely exquisite winery and tasting experience. Tim was a 10/10 host and gave us all the wine education we could ask for. He took us into the Pinot Noir vineyard section and had us pick grapes to taste to further our amazing experience. Would highly recommend this winery above all with the amazing views and wonderful wines.

Ashleen S.

Yelp
The rosé here was amazing and the Chardonnay had a wonderful taste. We really loved the charcuterie board and how it was presented to us. Kyle was an amazing server and made the experience worthwhile.

Edward A.

Yelp
Maybe we gave off the vibe we weren't buying wine today? They had a gorgeous hillside setting with the vineyard very close to the lanai seating area. Upon entering, our server seemed annoyed from the beginning. Not a lot of volunteered information it felt like we simply interrupted her leisurely day of work. The wine was actually pretty good but because of the we will call it "attitude" we didn't buy anything after our tastings. Once we committed to some tastings, it felt like we were a bother so we took it on ourselves to rush thru the experience and just find another winery to enjoy. It's too bad as they definitely have a nice setup. Maybe your experience will be better.
